Pro tip: take a klein 32581 screwdriver, pull the bit out, and slide shank over the control board stand offs. It's the perfect size, and it releases them everytime. Works on Hoshi, Manitowoc, Scotsman. I have yet to find a circuit board stand off it doesn't work on 🤙

Great tip ! i think anything Hollow would work. a piece of 1/4" copper might work too if u don't have a multi bit screwdriver.

Steve Lav taught me the neat trick of using a round bic pen. Have not had it not work so far.

No knee pads on this one! I just ordered mine same Selstrom grey and orange. After an accident with our crank lift at work, at 30 I’m not taking any more chances if I’m going to last as long as you have in this trade! Anyways love the videos, thank you for taking the time to make them. Take care man. 🤘🤘

Yep, i Just ordered 2 sets too. One Gray set like dave's & 1 Black set. i've had lots of knee pads over the years. most very uncomfortable , strap behind the knees syndrome. gotta see if these are any different.

Man I wish Hoshizaki would go back to making machines like those. I guess all good things must come to an end.

No kidding. I took pride in replacing Manitowoc’s with Hoshizaki’s now it’s tell the customer they all suck. 😂😂😂.

I had a customer replace the board on a hoshizaki machine that called us because it still wasn't working after replacement. I diagnosed reversed polarity so that was a $600 board that got turned into a paper weight when they powered it up.

Hoshizaki after hours tech support #1. Here on Oahu on a saturday night in Chinatown. I was stumped on a IM 200 BAC .... I called after hours tech number and left a message... Brah they called me back and saved my ass!

I really think it depends on the area you live in, for example my area in Colorado is dominated by older Manitowoc machines.
Hoshizaki, Scotsman and Ice-O-Matic machines are less common, therefore I am less familiar with them and prefer to work on Manitowoc. Some of the best refrigeration training I have, I got from my yearly Manitowoc training class. I also attended the 5-day Manitowoc factory training in Manitowoc, WI.
If any of you refrigeration techs out there haven't been to the 5-day Manitowoc factory school I highly recommend it, especially if you have been in the game for a long time you are going to absorb so much more knowledge than if you are a newbie. Thats my tip of the day.
Dave is such an OG he could probably teach the class.

Hoshizaki has the yearly training as well. There great machines very simple, but take a long time clean.

Hard to believe that old r22 unit is still making ice. They don't build quality like that anymore.

I thought those old ice machines use R134a which has been used in all residential refrigerators and car ac systems since 1992.

I ran into an R22 from 96 a few months back. One of the larger nugget style. It was in a government building. The thing was in great shape. Very low scale build up.

Where i work, we have an old Scotsman I/M that is still pumping 502. It has the old board with the mechanical timer with the cams that make/break micro switches. Machine is surprisingly pristine and has been well taken care of.
