I heard this live back in 1976 and it floored me then and still floors me now. Making it all the more special is knowing Elton performed it at young AIDS victim Ryan White's funeral gratis. He became very close with the family and with Ryan as he slowly lost his battle to AIDS, which he got from a blood transfusion. It was Ryans death that got Elton to assess his own lifestyle and go into rehab.
Obviously, the spanish voice is an interpretation of what Elton is saying...no big deal... Not everyone speaks English. - - Incredible piece of music; one of my favorites. Thanks for posting this!
Elton's voice was in a higher register when he was younger. I guess that's normal for it to drop in later years. Plus, he had surgery on his vocal cords at one point. Great song. I love the original off of Empty Sky the best. Reminds me of being a kid.

This is such a beautiful song...always makes me cry. Elton sang this song at Ryan White's funeral...may his sweet soul rest in peace.

I remember this tour. I loved it, even though - as he said - I didn't know some of the songs. He played smaller venues and put on an outstanding show.
