- Watch me and Jon build a beautiful tackhead banjo from a kit!!
I take you through half of the build now, then I’ll put out the other half next week. I will also edit these down into 4 short (how to) build videos and put them in a playlist for you.

Lol I love watching you two react to sounds around ya
😂
I've built two carver kits now, first the mountain and then the Americana. I love them both. I like the sound of the Americana better, but prefer the neck of mountain. The way the tuners are laid out on the Americana is a bit awkward in my opinion.
I built a Carver Mountain Banjo kit around Christmas 2021, and it was a lot of fun. It turned out great and I love playing it!
Awesome, it was fun. And whew I was scared to do that tackhead. But wait till you see me doing it next week. You will laugh probably! Yes sounds wonderful.
@@BanjoLemonade I was nervous stretching the small-ish piece onto/into the mountain banjo, even though Brian says in the video that you have about an hour before it gets too dry. I can't wait to see the larger head tacked on.
Oh yeah the kit I got had a giant piece of skin. It was scary because I also foolishly did it outside and it got windy! Hahah
Where's the love button?!
Thank you!
I love Brian’s kits! I built the mountain banjo and want to do a minstrel banjo too.
Looks good 😊
Thank you 😋
Where us part 2? Isn't friction tuners harder to tune with?
Part 2 will come out next Saturday. The friction tuners aren’t bad once you work with it a few minutes. Violins are still using friction tuners today.
I was curious about the friction tuners as well, but once the nylon strings settled in, the tuners seem about like geared tuners to me...maybe a little more finicky, but not as bad as I imagined.
Hey Jason did you go up the pole on the 5th string? I did instead of down since I like a raised 5th.
@@BanjoLemonade on the mountain banjo, the fifth string tuner is on the side, like a “regular” banjo, so that’s not an option. Although, having a raised fifth now has my curiosity.
Have looked at those kits for awhile.
Only cello banjo ya can find that isnt 1300.00
I’m really happy with the kit. Turned out awesome.
I have built Brian's Mountain Banjo kit and I'm very happy with it. His videos answer so many questions and basically walk you though the process. Just take your time and have fun.
Don't sand cross grain 😀
