LOL Good Ole' Sheriff Joe! The Sheriff in these old Dodge commercials must have been the inspiration for Jackie Gleason's "Sheriff Buford T. Justice", in "Smokey and the Bandit"!
Don't ever remove this video, this is classic American art in commercial form!! Why they don't bring back the 'sheriff' to sell the new Challenger I just don't understand. Great car the 70 Challenger, great times the 70's, great Dodge commercial!! I guess everything about the sheriff and American muscle cars is now considered politically incorrect.
My mom says that my granddaddy looked and talked like this sheriff, so sometimes when he was out in public, people would come up to him and ask him for his autograph. XD
Actually, the liberals and the socialists don't want you 'bucking the law' or 'thinking its cool', so be a good sheep, drive an electric golf cart, keep your head down, and eat the Soylent Green like a good little robot. THAT's WHY. To all those who've ever taken a muscle car out, for no other reason than to outrun the cops - and have succeeded, I salute you.
In spite of "polyglass" tires....(I had one of these), they were / are a better car than the new (beautiful/big) Challengers. Ask a man that's owned one!
I HAD A 1970 CHALLENGER R/T WITH A 340 4BL IN 1973 I HAD TO TRADE IT IN BECAUSE OF THE OIL EMBARGO GAS WAS TO HARD TO GET ENDED UP WITH A YELLOW PINTO BAD MOVE

Quite possibly the best ad ever. Wow, cool car and typical southern sheriff.
R.I.P. Sheriff. 1925-1998. And he wasn't just an actor. He held a Phd. in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle University.

Exactly correct! Matter of fact Jackie said he Watched many of them and drew from them.
" Looka hea booa, you lucky you the right cula. Othawise I'd hafta drag you in fa suspicion of grand theft au-to! "
Love this commercial. This cop is great.
This guy was a parody of Rod Stieger who played a racist sheriff in the 1967 movie , In The Heat Of The Night.
@silverbird58 I remember the (1973)movie "Walking Tall" about Buford Pusser. The guy carried a baseball bat to bop slot machines and his enemies.
I wish I had that car in fact I also wish I it was still 1970!
"....Polyglas GT." - "Racing tires!"
Those were the days.

The new Challenger's are made in Canada...not really importing them, just drivng them down south haha could be worse.
1970 New (Standard Equip) Challenger: $3700
Same Challenger in 1991: $1500
