I know I am several years late but WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK at people saying Jesse McCartney is the original singer and wrote it LMBOOOOOOO!!! 'Stupid Things' was on Robin's debut album 'A Beautiful World' that was released back in 2003. I've got the album and Robin wrote it. And if you google Stupid Things Jesse McCartney lyrics the first website that pops up gives writing credits to Robin. I didn't even know damn Jesse McCartney covered it until I came here.
i love both versions. but since trey's my favorite singer i gotta go with his version. thicke's is breathtaking though... and yeah i know it's a cover and thicke's the original cause i can read
@slik123 - thank you very much!! I think Trey did a beautiful job! And if you didn't, and like to say things like your ears are bleeding then take your extra ass off his songs! And like you said, of course you are going to think robin's was better because it's his song. Stop comparing and appreciate the artist as an individual and stop creating competition! It's stupid.
@TheCheriiLady Yes I listened to it and I think this version is better than his and Jesse's and nothing you say will change my mind everyone has different likes and dislikes so you shouldn't criticize someone's taste in music or in anything really, go ahead and tell me I know nothing about music but that won't make me feel bad or change my mind.
Just my opinion here, but, frankly I don't think it should matter which version sounds better. We all know Robin Thicke wrote and sang the song first. Each singer brings something different to the track. Whether you prefer the original, this one, or Jesse's, it doesn't really matter. It's a great song. Just appreciate it for what it is. Not who's singin it. :D
Just my opinion here, but, frankly I don't think it should matter which version sounds better. We all know Robin Thicke wrote and sang the song first. Each version sounds different because well different people sang it, obviously. Whether you prefer the original, this one, or Jesse's, it doesn't really matter. It's a great song. Just appreciate it for what it is. Not who's singin it.
I hate how a lot of yall sayin how ROBIN THICKE'S version IS BETTER. WELL NO shit, its Robin's song, same thing would be said if Robin tried to sing a Trey song.
@loganlermansbestfan oh please, have you actually LISTENED to Robin Thicke's - it CANT get better than that. This is pants compared to the original. GAH
Sorry Guys. =) I'm Gonna Hate. Haha. Well, It's Good, But I Don't Like How He Drags Out The Notes At The End, While Jesse Brings It Down. I Think Jesse's Is Good. I Think Trey's Is Good. I Think They're Both Good. I Can't Choose! Aaaahh! Haha.
I beg to differ. Now I ain't sayin' Trey ain't good... I do believe Trey did a good job, however if you compare them closely, you'll notice that Trey's rendition lacks the soul/hurt in his voice when he sings it. Where as Robin's version expresses more solitary pain. Trey's just straight out fancy R&B - he misses the mark and lacks conviction.
You're straight out bias due to the fact you're Trey's fanatic. Again, I ain't sayin' Trey ain't good...
Agreed. But that's cuz Thicke wrote it. He writes all of his songs (Save that Whitney song he covered after she passed) based on his own experiences. To quote him, it's like his therapy. so if you listen to his music, you'd hear a lot of angst-y crap happening between them. no wonder he expresses his emotions well.
Yeah. I've noticed that certain elements of the original must to be kept in order to make a successful cover. That's why most remakes are failures, I think.
Love this version still!!
I like both versions. So much nostalgia. Always liked this one a little better
nah i love trey but he didnt even come close to robins, i actually think he kinda ruined it
@@WeOutcheaMane oh okay. Yeah I really like it. Luckily it isn’t ruined for me 😅
@@alicemiriahI feel the same way! Trey did his THANGGG on this song
I LOVE THIS VERSION
Treyy needs to use his voice more like this more often!!!!
He sounds so good! I haven't heard Robin's version because when I was looking for it this popped up. But Trey sounds wonderful to me :)

Also, if you look up the wiki for Robin's A Beautiful World album the track listing credits Thicke as the writer.

Almost made me cry (the beat did)
"A Beautiful World" Robin Thicke's 1st CD came out in 2003, so he did it first.
I practice off this. The vocals are on point💪🏾🔥
i like all three
Only Passion can pull off this cover :)
Trey ain't capable of writing songs with this much depth :) All he does well is covers other people's originals well with his fancy rhythm and blues.
i like robins version betta
The trey I fuck wit ! Classic shit
@stylishdiva122 I like that deep note he hit, lol.
2021 Trey Songz tinha uma voz do caralho em
Then Though this is Robin Thicke's Song Trey still killed it.. He can keep making covers on other artist songs I'll still listen to him reguardless.
i can't stop repeating 0:06 - 0:15
@slik123 - thank you very much!! I think Trey did a beautiful job! And if you didn't, and like to say things like your ears are bleeding then take your extra ass off his songs! @gtakcmo816 That's what I was thinking.
N ITS BY ROBIN THICKE SMART 1 >xO
I want to pay off all my loans and all my debts and tickets
I like this version, but I think Passion probably did the best cover.
FYI, I don't know what year Robin Thicke released his version, but Jesse Mccartney released this song back in 2004. Seems like nobody care tho..
This song was written and sung by Robin Thicke in 2002 from his debut album Beautiful World
Trey has the best voice, hands down
The simple arrangement of the original fits better with the lyrics.
i think this versons better, i dnt think i've herd robins version's properly
I say if you can't make it better than leave it how it was...
2016 .
I don't know, after hearing Robin's version I say Trey sounds better, stop hating ppl Trey is good lol
He’s a terrible human being BUT this cover is amazing.
omG Jesse's version is so much better
@loganlermansbestfan oh please, have you actually LISTENED to Robin Thicke's - it CANT get better than that. This is pants compared to the original. GAH
das tru
trey "too much vibrato in his" songz put too much vibrato in this song
This is decent, but Robin Thicke's version is WAY better
I was expecting this to be the worse...but it's not bad. Robin's rendition is better...but this is not all that bad.
I agree. Robin's voice fits it better and he's more natural with it.
@KLM42708 naw really?
i dont like it, i cant see trey relating to this, i dont like it
Clearly the top says "[ Robin Thicke Cover ]" which means trey is singing Robin's song. Decent Job Tho.
Aaaahh! Haha.
instrumental arrangement is sick, but could have delivered more vocally
this versions still good, but robins is better.
I like trey songz because he sounds like R. Kelly.
Yup, you're right... He "killed" it. Total disaster :S
Robin's (OG) version is better, IMO
@bknbtfc HAHAH lol thats random
How is this way "more original"? Please constructively explain it to me in layman terms.
I beg to differ. Now I ain't sayin' Trey ain't good... I do believe Trey did a good job, however if you compare them closely, you'll notice that Trey's rendition lacks the soul/hurt in his voice when he sings it. he did the tempo a little to fast but E for effort
Good cover, but Robin Thicke expressed his emotions better on his version! The instrumentals are a bit over-embellished, imo.
This is ok. Robins remake is way way better.
Robin thicke is better
@KLM42708
I thought it was Trey's song.
He could prolly sing it better now
The vocal is absolutely on point but all the strange instrumental elements added to it don’t make sense. Sounds like a mess.
Did you hear the original?
Yep and Jesse McCartney’s
Yeah. I've noticed that certain elements of the original must to be kept in order to make a successful cover. That's why most remakes are failures, I think.
nope
i'm liking jesse's version way better than trey songz
is this trey songz forreal????
trey is betta than this....
Robin Thicke will always be the better artist, trey is really a joke
huge trey stan but man he ruined it lol
Robin is clearly better. No knock to Trey though.
This isnt trey these kind of slow songs dont suit him AT ALL
HATER
Sorry dude, Robin Thicke wins
the real version(JESSE MCCARTNEY) is way better than this crap
My ears are bleeding. WTF. Why do ppl keep trying to cover Robin's song. No one can do it as well as he can. Just....no.
