Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.
Regular boring cars are plentiful, but it is those who dare to change and try something new that are remembered.
These are the most innovative cars ever!

It's really disappointing how underrated this channel is
I agree putin
@@nutshellscience1979 very underrated. Good humor on narration, good technical knowledge, good production values and generally informative and entertaining at the same time about a subject we all like or we wouldn't be here. Just found it yesterday and have been watching one after another.
Bruh it does nit matter
Ikr!
@@gregvarner9562 True!
The Ford Model T was the first mass produced car, and 15 million were sold between 1908 and 1927
I would put that in the top three if this was the even ten since how common it was and it looks brilliant as well
You missed the most important aspect of it. *Standardized parts* . Since you don't bring this up but say "it looks brilliant" you're as ignorant as somebody reviewing paintings from whether they make an impression or you or not. Btw, the Model T was called "Tin Lizzy" at the time because it was awfully crude and simple. But Ford understood that a crude and simple car would be cheap enough to mass manufacture and ordinary people would be able to afford it,
@@paulallen8109 Are you always this big of a douchebag when you go to parties? If so, then I understand why you’re mad that you weren’t invited back.
It was also one of the first, if not the first car to be painted quickly and not fade. Hence Ford’s famous color quote and later discontent with the paint progress moving forward
The Citroen has been on my dream quirky car list for a long time. So funky cool
change your choice ..... get a car for men
@@JohnSmith-rw8uh Don't knock it until you've ridden in a DS. Folks in North America hated them because they were so "unreliable" but that's what one gets for using brake fluid instead of the LHM fluid for the suspension, and rounding off the metric bolts and nuts with SAE wrenches. We had a few of them and never had issues. I get it that Citroen did a dreadful job of getting spares to North America, and training the mechanics wasn't even a thought that entered corporate Citroen's mind.
@@andrewwatson9805 I am European not American, although I do like yank cars
Like they say, either you luv them or you are heterosexual
@@JohnSmith-rw8uh Like they say. You're either a troll or an idiot. For your sake I hope troll. Then again idiots at least have an excuse and can't really help it. What's your excuse?
@@McLarenMercedes Yeah you cant help being an idiot and praising these shit boxes.
I dont need an excuse.
Lancia has been very innovative: 1913 Lancia Theta first car with electric starter, 1922 Lancia Lambda first car with self-supporting body and independent suspension, 1950s Lancia Aurelia first car with V6 engine built in series, 1970s Lancia Fulvia first V4 engine with 15 crad angle, 2002 Lancia Thesis first car with LED taillights in Series built , and the hole Rally Wins
Thank you had to scroll why to far for this
It’s unfortunate that the same can’t b said 4 modern Lancia
Don't forget the 1985 Lancia Delta S4, which was the first ever car to use a twincharging system!
I now have noticed how much Lancia loves naming their cars using Greek letters.
mmmm the fulvia man i love it
Citroen Traction Avant was also an innovative car, it kinda invented the FWD
True, the DS was pretty much a successor
@@luscorpio3679 Not really, dead end tech... ureliable ugly slugs on wheels that appeal to dickheads.... also other companies had fwd in the 30's also
@@luscorpio3679 The DS had more innovations overall, though.
@@JohnSmith-rw8uh There's always somebody who has to be a troll, isn't there?
Gabriel the Traction Avant was also the first unibody car - which became the *industrial standard* . Citroen did it first though. Prior to the Traction Avant cars were basically chassis with coaches bolted on top of them.
all of the holy trinity of hypercard too
In a way, yes. But Czinger is also a performance hybrid + 3d printing.
TopCars TV bringing car manufacturering to the next level indeedy!
Hypercars*
Hypercards is an innovative idea. We have normal cards, why not hypercards.
@@TopCarsTV yeah
A couple of things you didn't mention about the Citroen DS: in a head-on collision the engine was designed to slide under the front occupants' seats instead of into their laps. The steering wheel was also designed to break partway down the shaft so the driver wouldn't be speared in the chest in a head-on. A blowout in one of the front wheels at speed wouldn't cause the vehicle to lurch towards the blown tyre. In fact, you could still steer the vehicle with one finger through the blowout, as per some advertisements. Self levelling headlights were standard in the late 60's. Essentially, safety was engineered into the DS. Even the spare tyre was in front of the engine to reduce impact. In 1971 my parents were in a head-on collision where the oncoming vehicle veered into their lane and hit them head on. Mom and Dad walked away from it, but the occupants of the other car--a BMW, if I remember correctly--died on impact. Police estimated the collision speed to be in excess of 160 kph (100 mph).
Fun fact: the Porsche 959 has a lower gear for off-roading
Yes. Off-roading. In a supercar.
They did use it in the dakar rally and was meant for group b so it does make sense
@@anhondacivic6541 it was still a stupidly expensive car. Who's gonna rally a 250000$ supercar?
Answer: Porsche
The McLaren F1, 1st car to be made from carbon fiber, a 3 seater, fastest car in the world ( at the time) and STILL is the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world, with little modifications it won the 24hr of LeMans and it was the first (and only) car to put gold, real gold in the engine to deal with the immense heat coming from the insane BMW v12.
Yep, that's a very impressive car
You added WHAT IS LOVE !!!
Cool little detail over there. Wish they head bob.......
Also the 959 was the first road car with sequential turbochargers, which made turbochargers interesting for supercars in the first place, since they got rid of most of the turbolag.
Highly underrated channel. Love your work!
1: Ford model T
2: tuker 48
3: dodge (ramcharger)- incorrect
(Edit): I'm extremely sorry it's called dodge ram van it's not the ramcharger
Thanks bro :)
Please...
Why Federico?
3/3
@@velsonline oh, sorry! Wrong video, my bad😂😂😆😆🙌
This guy has the best editing skills, has good explanations, and great speech!
Outro part:
Ford Model T (world's first proper car with internal combustion engine)
Tucker Torpedo (famous for its airplane sourced flat-six engine, modern styling at that time with high safety levels, fuel injection, magnesium wheels, disc brakes, a swiveling spotlight at the front, padded dashboard and instrumentation on the steering wheel, too bad that its maker, Tucker was called fraud before the car even went into full production run...)
Chrysler Voyager, although it was badged as a Dodge on the screen (famous for its space efficiency, cheap price and well styled design that hardly any design changes were required for over a decade)
The model T was not really the first combustion engined car, it was the first true mass produced car.
@@ferfari101 Oh okay, thanks for the information btw.
You are very much welcome.
Tucker 48 is amazing. They are now worth 2.2 million in pristine condition.
From a child
The Citroen DS looks have always challenged my sensitivities. But I must admit, it was damn innovative
Yes it was really innovative
From a child
Yup, too bad they discontinued the last car with this suspension in 2017, the Citroën C5. Also Citroën managed to almost completely eliminate body roll in corners with their hot hatch, the Xantia activa V6 in the late 90s, in fact, it still holds the world record for the Swedish moose test, and several supercars like Audi R8s, McLarens or lambos couldn't beat it in stability
@@onelyone6976 whoa thankyou for the information
Stype:Czinger 21c
Me: i didn't know this was a thing.
😂
Well then watch top gear's review on it...
The future is here
Great of you to include the Tucker. Nice vid as always stype
1908-1927 Ford Model T
1948 Tucker Model 48
1984 Dodge Caravan
Thought that saab or volvo would make it on this list but nevertheless awesome video as always🤟
The two companies have had some great ideas, but they never made one single car that suddenly premiered them all
TopCars TV the black panel, how the ignition key is located in the middle, the world’s first headlamps wiper washers, world first standard seat heater etc. but anyway i would love to listen to you Talking about saabs , like in a video called top cars company that shouldn’t go bankrupted.
@@TopCarsTV looks at clutchless manual, yea Saab was interesting
I always liked 90's-80's cars more than modern ones
Great video with outstanding thought on the list choice. Well done!
Thanks Lou. The video wouldn't have been possible without your help
Don't forget me when u get famous ;)

Only real car guys know Prius doesn't deserve all those hates
There's a saying: you grow up when you start wanting the Prius, not a Lambo
I remember seeing my first tesla, a 2013 black model S. It was just casually parked on the curb, and I remember looking inside it with awe. Now Model 3s and Ys are ubiquitous and teslas are pretty well known and everywhere. Tesla has come a long way since that 2013 model S.
Just what I needed to get through the day thanks!!
Happy to help! 😉
The DS even became one of Jacky Kennedy’s (John Kennedy’s wife’s) favourite cars
It saved de Gaule, maybe JFK.
The Citroen DS is in another galaxy, that truly is the most beautiful car ❤️
Anyone noticed how underrated he is?
Best channel even and best voice , respect for this man
I never saw a 3d printed body structure coming. Kudos to them 😎
Seriously there are n’t so many car channels that gives a normal, point a to point B kind of cars, cars that make pepple lives better, cars that gives people more than just speed and excitement and that what made me fall for this channel, how realistic his point of view is, how reasonable and on point he is... and the sasss that was everything that made me so engaged to his video and I doubt that other channel could made me feel how stype made me and i’m so grateful for that!
And especially for someone who studied automotive design, everything you said is true and on point!
You studied automotive design? Wow, a fellow designer on my channel. Hello and thanks for the kind words
TopCars TV only for a term but enough to know the whole process of car design. clay modelling, tape drawing, and stories of each lines and details and so on was a stressful term but gained a lot of knowledge and made me even respect cars designers even more! Ps. My instructor is the one who designed the 1st gen isuzu d-max the time he was at GM ❤️
Waited for a good long time for another vid🤩
Such a high quality video!
Citreon sm is one of my favorite cars probably top 10
Well, you should make a special just for Citroen. They were always ahead: the Traction in 1934, the 2CV in 1949, the DS in 1955, the CX in 1975 and the Xantia with the first active suspension in the nineties. Then, look at the Renault 16, the modern mid-size car as we see them today (the VW museum in Wolfsburg shows it like this).
VW Beetle, anyone?!?
Always great to see a new video
Aww yiss! Stype is back
Can you do some videos on the engine that ran on water and the elusive forgotten gm 100mpg carburetor?
3:20 *_ON DAYYS LIKKE THEEESSEEEE_*
The Italian job.
Honda released the Insight 8 months before the Prius...
tozota made the hybrid car mainstream and popular
Le Chan Bottle exactly Toyota technically innovated hybrid cars cause they made it popular while the Honda Insight was rare and barely sold for all three generations right now
U would think with all the car channels across all media car reviews could only do so much and u expect the same routine every time but once in a while a channel like this comes along n i really like what u selling.
Great content 👍
Now I actually WANT to see Tom Hanks, a priest, Pink Panther and a wrestler all in a BMC Mini at once.
They took that hologram navigation system straight outta Need For Speed Rivals.
You are right about that 😁
The original MINI is one of my favourite cars of all time, it's 8th overall and 2nd of the pre-2000 cars
James Guthrie....most of your "favorite cars" were/are manufactured after 2000?! Are you serious, or are you being sarcastic? Cuz damn near every car built since 2000, except for the 2005 - present Mustang, new Dodge Challenger, and the Ford Raptor, are all pretty much trash....
LiberalsAreGarbage Yes because this is my top ten
1 - BMW Z4M Roadster (2006)
2 - Toyota Camry Sportivo (2003)
3 - Porsche 996 GT3 (2003)
4 - Dodge Charger SRT8 (2006)
5 - Infiniti G37 (2009)
6 - Range Rover (2000)
7 - Holden Torana XU 1 (1972)
8 - MINI Cooper S (2000)
9 - Aston Martin DB9 (2004)
10 - Jaguar E Type (1961)
You forgot the Lexus LFA, not because of the sound, but because it had lots of new features

3.) Late 80's, early 90's Dodge Caravan
For the electric car, I thought it would be the Nissan Leaf for pioneering and becoming the first successful fully electric car that was affordable, but ig Tesla can take that spot for performance electric car.
I love my 2004 S-Class!!!
Nice
Let's see, without any pre-planning, I pull into a ubiquitous gas station, pay, fill up, get my change, if any, and return to the road. With which electric car can I do this?
Tesla: mhhh a drivable phone yesss brilliant

There is a car called Toyota Mirai, which is also an innovative car.
My grandpa had a Citroën DS 19 Pallas
Your grandpa was a classy man
What about the Buick Reatta. I think in was the first car built with a modern touch-infortaimentsystem back in the year 1988. Thats pretty dope
Sorry for my english I‘m german:)
It may have had the first version but it wasn't all that good and it didn't catch on.
Same with touch screen phones that came before the iPhone .
3:54 and nissan reverse engineered and made the Attesa awd systems
PSA group is so innovative, it needs special video about them history!
The prius I haven't been keen on since the 2nd generation was released
Ford Model T, Tucker 48, 1984 Dodge Caravan (I owned one from 1990-1994)
Again, Stype, you missed out on the Tucker 48 . It had 4 wheel disc brakes, a cyclops 3rd headlight, which could swivel. Citreon used its concept, maybe 🤔 , 🤷

Volvo *the safest car on earth*: am I a joke to you
Ford model T, Tucker Torpedo, and 1983 Plymouth dodge Chrysler minivan
first car ever? pretty innovative
If yo uthibk about it, first car ever would be a very innovative horse carriage 🤯
The Raesr tachyon speed is a car that is so futuristic designed and it all started in 2012 the car is 2 seat like the 21c get down force at 150 mph and the doors open automatically and also it's top speed that is 240 mph and it's design that looks like a fighter jet like a Dassault Rafale if you look at the front
The last three cars were :-
1. Ford modle t
2. Tuker 48
3. Dode minivan from 1980s (i don't know exactly because I'm not from u.s and here chrysler dosen't exsist here)
7:20 thanks but I’ll stick 2 my liquid dinosaurs
Imagine the MPG if the prius had a diesel engine 😳
In the field of minivans, I prefer the Renault Espace Mk. I to the Chrysler/Dodge Van because it was more modern and sexy enough to make a Minivan aspirational.
The Espace and the Caravan/Voyager came around in the same period of time. The reason that could explain giving the edge to the americans is that the Espace was not a big success at first
Audis where the first cars with the steering wheel on the left side
