    The Ford Model T was the first mass produced car, and 15 million were sold between 1908 and 1927
    I would put that in the top three if this was the even ten since how common it was and it looks brilliant as well

    • @paulallen8109
      @paulallen8109 4 года назад +8

      You missed the most important aspect of it. *Standardized parts* . Since you don't bring this up but say "it looks brilliant" you're as ignorant as somebody reviewing paintings from whether they make an impression or you or not. Btw, the Model T was called "Tin Lizzy" at the time because it was awfully crude and simple. But Ford understood that a crude and simple car would be cheap enough to mass manufacture and ordinary people would be able to afford it,

    A couple of things you didn't mention about the Citroen DS: in a head-on collision the engine was designed to slide under the front occupants' seats instead of into their laps. The steering wheel was also designed to break partway down the shaft so the driver wouldn't be speared in the chest in a head-on. A blowout in one of the front wheels at speed wouldn't cause the vehicle to lurch towards the blown tyre. In fact, you could still steer the vehicle with one finger through the blowout, as per some advertisements. Self levelling headlights were standard in the late 60's. Essentially, safety was engineered into the DS. Even the spare tyre was in front of the engine to reduce impact. In 1971 my parents were in a head-on collision where the oncoming vehicle veered into their lane and hit them head on. Mom and Dad walked away from it, but the occupants of the other car--a BMW, if I remember correctly--died on impact. Police estimated the collision speed to be in excess of 160 kph (100 mph).

    Stype wasn't it, Volvo that lead the way? They introduced the 3 point seat belt and didn't patten it for other vehicle manufacturers to use as a safety device before it became a mandatory law by the 1980's not sure, but did Volvo also do crash tests as well..

    0:38 comparing fuel to movement ration on a combustion engine with the battery to movement ration on e car is like comparing apple to bananas! This is often done by the electric car producers, to make the e cars look more efficient and environment friendly than they are. But if you want to compare the efficiency of an e car to a car with combustion engine, you need to look at the efficiency of how the energy is produced, before it gets into the battery. Power plants have an efficiency of about 18-23 % when they produce the energy for the e car, which then looses another 6-12 % when converting it into movement (battery to movement). This is way more inefficient than a combustion engine and a normal modern combustion engine has a 30-40 % ratio. Only real beefy sport cars and hypercars have a ration below 30 %.

      @@ultraguy8771 That's just how import works. I'm from Germany and I know a guy from Luxembourg who bought his C7 Z06 fully spec'd for 112k. That's insane considering the competition costs way more than that. A used C5 or C6 can be picked up for a little more than 20k which is okay.

      @@ultraguy8771 I know a bunch of people who own early Corvettes. It's not too bad and you can keep the costs low when you consider buying the right model year and fix a few smaller things on the car you bought. Otherwise the cars will last forever.
