Luffy in the anime does have a drawstring, however is magical since it only appears when it’s convenient for the plot or if toei animation remembers he has one

Animating a detailed flowing string would draw the eye, and take a bunch of time to animate for something that isnt meant to be focused on. Also it could just be under the hat, thats what I do with my own sun hat

A good effort by Mr. Unboxed to give this figure a shot. It seems like an odd product because it is (probably?) too expensive for a casual to buy and too lacking in features for someone willing to spend more than $30-40 on a figure. Maybe they are counting on the likeness to move units.
It’s wild. It should be priced to get people into the brand like normal
Bandai Spirits truly phones it in when it comes to Western properties, for real. Just take a look at all of their Marvel stuff, where there's no consistent scale, and everyone's 'bonus' face is a blank side-eye. It's frustrating, especially as you said, there's not a lot of value in that. Great review!

When it come to live action figures it's the lack of detail and paint on the faces
Well I mean the celebrities figures like Michael Jackson and Jamiroquai
I always dissuade people who I know from buying SHF live-action figures. A lot of people new to collecting think that they will get a premium offering of the characters they love but in reality these are insanely overpriced for what you are getting.
The anime figures are worth it, the Naruto figures last year are some of the best figures I own but the live action stuff is rough.
@@soumyadeepbanerjee964 Just saying "SHF live-action figures" in general is kind of not really on the mark. You 100% SHOULD buy their live action offerings.... if it's their Kamen Rider stuff. Considering how it completely blows all of their anime offerings out of the water. That's where they really put their effort in.
the missed the oportunity of adding a "rubber" arm , eiether a longer plastic arm or an actual rubber arm on a wire or something, eiether way , the SHOULD have at least gave him a grin smile, its one of luffy's most recognizable characteristics

I've been a One Piece fan for twenty years now, and have had this figure on preorder since it was put up on BBTS, and the more I see of it, I'm thinking of canceling my order. I don't want to, and if I end up keeping the order, I may keep this one inside of the box. A head with a large smile and/or a stretched arm/fist to represent his gum gum pistol would've gone a long way.
Totally agree. I haven't looked into it, but I wonder if they are putting other head sculpts with the other characters like they do with the anime face plates. Probably not though

It’s wild. They nail it sometimes like the Indiana Jones they made. His price was similar to this one and actually had good accessories

Did you get rid of the other Luffy because of the new one coming out or were you just not really into it? I got it and it's fine, but with the Season 1 ONE PIECE figures, Dragon Ball figures, and all of the other amazing figures from IPs I like (Demon Slayer, Tekken, and Metal Build/GFFMC Gundam) that Bandai is trying to ram up my keister, It's getting overwhelming.

i dont really care about one piece, but im very aware of how difficult it was to get a hold of -any- posable figures of the characters. For a long time, the variable action heroes were your only option, without paying ridiculous aftermarket for the old figuarts, but the minute the netflix adaptation drops, you can get brand new figuarts of the core cast? That's gotta be frustrating.

having Luffy as an action figure will never be as accurate as with his ability, there's no way he could stretch just like in the show
There are 3rd party companies that make stuff, apparently. And the Hot Toys version has the arms

if i understand correctly the reason why theres a lack of accessories is because of how much actor likeness cost, apparently Inaki Godoy's manager KNOWS how much money he could get from this deal and did so Bandai had to cut some cost.

Why do people always say they won’t watch the anime because it to many episodes like that doesn’t prove anything and you could say you don’t have enough time but these types of people still watch anime so they clearly do have time to at least watch one anime but no whenever someone suggests one piece they just magically don’t have any time for anything anymore the really only good argument is if you don’t t have a streaming service to watch one piece which is fair

Yeah, it’s a weird figure. I mean, I loved the live action show, and the likeness is this figure’s main strength. But honestly, One Piece is a manga/anime first. How many people are actually gonna put money into the live action stuff, like, really? It’s either for OP completionists, or for people that have really only seen the LA series and don’t know any better. I don’t see this taking off at all.
On the other hand, the Raid on Onigashima line seems to improve with every new release and the reveal of the pre-timeskip Luffy and Nami has put a future death sentence on my wallet. Man those two look fantastic. I’m now waiting for Sanji, possibly Yamato, and definitely Gear 5 Luffy (which I think is a fantastic design). Overall, despite the hiccups the anime line seems very promising to me, but as far as the live action line goes, I don’t see it going past Nami (I think the likeness is there but that godawful hair though….)
"don’t know any better", is a pretty bad way to react to that. People collect what they like. Live Action stuff happens all the time, so what's wrong with this happening?

Not watching one piece anime because it's long is a weak argument. First of all the live action season 1 is like 8 hours. For the anime if you skip the intro, ending credits, 2 mid screens and the recap at the beginning of most episodes, you're actually down to less than 20 minutes per episode. I've watched 4 episodes in around 1 hour and 10 minutes. So if I watch like that for 8 hours, I can get pretty close to end of the Arlong arc, so it's not really the much more time, if you watch it side-by-side with the show
Oh. Well, then I change my answer to “I don’t want to watch 500 episodes” because I’m too busy

Got a few figures in today that I've been looking forward to for awhile. Got Neca Elvira, would recommend, she is amazing and very, um, busty lol. I also got the older Drizzt Do'urden with Guenhwyvar. I just love those stories and the figures are kick ass. Could be better but they are badass nonetheless

Even the Hot Toys 1/6 scale Luffy doesn’t look very good unfortunately. No smiling face, just a smirk. I feel like this SH figure captures his likeness better than Hot Toys somehow, such a shame. It does come with stretchy parts and a separate hat so it has that going for it. This figure is certainly over priced though. No reason they couldnt have added a separate hat at least

think you just don't know what to expect from a live action figuarts. pretty much all of them are 60 to 75 bucks. all of my sh figuarts kamen rider figures (minus one) i spent 80-100 bucks on

It’s also a chunky investment in both time and money (if you buy the volumes like I do.), but the pacing is so much better without all the filler crap and 25% actual new content per episode it has lately. Then again, a new anime series has been announced for Netflix to give new fans an entry point so that might also be a good way to go.

0:35 You shouldn’t. The One Piece anime has absolutely horrible pacing. You should read the manga or watch One Pace if you don’t want your time wasted, but also want to experience the story 👍

Sadly, another figuarts Luffy that is disappointing. He does look nice. His articulation seems better than the previous luffy. They could of done better on the paint.

I honestly don’t understand why people are so disappointed with the Onigashima Luffy or even hate it. Yeah, he could’ve used some gum-gum or haki effects but as a figure in and of itself, he’s great. It’s also clear that Bandai is going for a DLC/Build-a-figure type approach so stretchy effects will come up with future releases for sure (Gear 5). I would’ve preferred those accessories with the figure over that approach myself, but I can see what they’re trying to do. He can hit every pose you want (yes, even Gear 2 despite what some people may say), looks accurate and I don’t know what people are doing to the poor guy, but he doesn’t just fall apart over nothing. He’s honestly a very fun figure.
