Finding these challenges has changed my view and thinking! I really don’t want a lot, but I now want to know what I’m capable of doing. I’m such a rule follower and color in the line person. Thank YOU!!! I have been budgeting for over 18 years. I found Dave Ramsey in 2004. I paid off all my consumer debt by 2009. I currently have a car loan and mortgage. However, I stuffed this challenge with my “allowance.” We (my husband and i) both get an allowance (blow money) to use however we like. The rest of our salaries go into a joint account to pay that debt, bills, 529s, everything else. We both max out our 401(k)s too. I use to save only $1000 per year of my allowance. I found the saving challenges by accident while looking for something else. I’m happy to answer any other questions or explain my situation better if you want.
That's awesome! I've never seen it done that way. I've seen people round up by 5 but not 10. So anything ending in 0-5 got a 5 and 6-9 went up to the next tenth. (ex: 46 would be 50)

I thought about replacing my singles with fives. This was great though. You saved an extra $450 just by using the 10's. 🙂
@@azza7717 envelopes $1, $2, $3, $4, and $5-I stuffed with $5 each…envelopes $6, $7, $8, $9, and $10 - I stuffed with $10 each. I kept going up in $5 increments!! I hope this helps!

@@crystalmomto4124 YES. I do think it’s possible to budget any amount of money! Yes, it will be hard and require some sacrifices, but you can do it! Life will throw some curve balls and the money sometimes won’t stretch, but you CAN do this!!! Start saving small…change or $1-$2. Take care of your basis needs first (shelter, food and utilities). Slow and steady and you will see progress and improvement. I’m not going to sugarcoat: it may take years, but whenever you start making different choices with your money (telling your money where to go on paper first - before you receive it) the closer you are to financial freedom. I will pray for you and your children. I’m willing to answer all you questions and help you setup a budget. Please stay plugged in to this budgeting journey…their is so much great advice and encouragement here!!!

Liz, you know I love you!!! It was worth the wait!!! A year of sacrifice and waiting is literally changing my life. I use to save my routine $1000 every year. Finding these challenges has changed my view and thinking! I really don’t want a lot, but I now want to know what I’m capable of doing. I’m such a rule follower and color in the line person. It’s money today, but spirit, mind and body soon. Reaching this goal is opening and unlocking a lot with me. Sorry for the ramble, but I think you’ll understand me.

Hi, I loved your video! I have a question? Did you pay off all of your debt before you did your challenges?
Thank YOU!!! I have been budgeting for over 18 years. I found Dave Ramsey in 2004. I paid off all my consumer debt by 2009. I currently have a car loan and mortgage. However, I stuffed this challenge with my “allowance.” We (my husband and i) both get an allowance (blow money) to use however we like. The rest of our salaries go into a joint account to pay that debt, bills, 529s, everything else. We both max out our 401(k)s too. I use to save only $1000 per year of my allowance. I found the saving challenges by accident while looking for something else. I’m happy to answer any other questions or explain my situation better if you want.

That's awesome! I've never seen it done that way. I've seen people round up by 5 but not 10. So anything ending in 0-5 got a 5 and 6-9 went up to the next tenth. (ex: 46 would be 50)

@@crystalmomto4124 YES. I do think it’s possible to budget any amount of money! Yes, it will be hard and require some sacrifices, but you can do it! Life will throw some curve balls and the money sometimes won’t stretch, but you CAN do this!!! Start saving small…change or $1-$2. Take care of your basis needs first (shelter, food and utilities). Slow and steady and you will see progress and improvement. I’m not going to sugarcoat: it may take years, but whenever you start making different choices with your money (telling your money where to go on paper first - before you receive it) the closer you are to financial freedom. I will pray for you and your children. I’m willing to answer all you questions and help you setup a budget. Please stay plugged in to this budgeting journey…their is so much great advice and encouragement here!!!
