Carta 1300 Comparison: blog.the-ebook...
On size for those who commented about it: I own several ebook readers, kindle paperwhite, oasis, libra, clara, clara hd, clara 2e. I have to say 6" is the way to go. Most comfortable for reading cuz your eyes barely feel like they need to move side to side, and the 6" models are always pocketable for me, regardless of their body/bezel. Plus, I can hold a 6"reader across my palm easily, between a finger and my thumb - this is either very uncomfortable or nigh impossible with the larger readers, especially if there are buttons, which makes it feel like the only way to hold the reader is by "pinching" at the handle with the buttons. The only time I wanted the bigger screens was with comics and manga, and for those I've come to actually just prefer my regular tablet.
Great feedback, lovely, thanks
Went with the 6 inch 🎉
muy acertado y claro ,.. no tengo que buscar mas 🤗
I have one of these and like it. 6" is the only size I like for books.
I wanted to buy a Kobo. Then I started watching these videos. Why, when a button is touched, does it flash from the light page, to dark, to light again? What is that? It is very hard on my eyes, even if I'm just watching a video of this.
That's just how all E Ink screens work: blog.the-ebook-reader.com/2021/02/26/are-you-bothered-by-your-ereaders-screen-flashing/
Consider stopping testing dark mode and light settings under the lamp/daylight. Do it in the darkened room. Not everyone uses e-readers under the lamp or sunlight - there are a lot of people who read in the dark.
He’s explained before that it’s difficult to film the video in a dark room.
A comparison with neo 2 would be great
is it possible to load .epub or .pdf files?
yes but kepubs run smoother, so may as well convert before loading.
Can I sideload additional dictionaries besides the build-in ones?
Yeah, I think there's a trick to doing that.
Still, no send via email sideloading feature...
The plastic back casing on the new model is so slippery and feels very cheap, just like the Kindle Basic of 2022. Without a case it feels awful in the hand.
How's the screen compared to the colour?
The BW has much better contrast while the colour has more "grey" white to it.
I had them side by side at In Indigo...BW is significantly nicer to look at with or without the backlight on. The Colour has a very grey background.I ended up getting the BW even though it was only $20 more for the Colour. The Colour looks fuzzy/blurry to me.
Why the screen goes black and white? is this normal? Thank you
Most e-ink displays only show black and white
Colored Screens on eReader are really new and still quite uncommon
That’s the screen refreshing so there’s no ghosting from what I understand
Missing landscape function. Any solution for landscape?
You can install KOreader UI which has milion settings :)
6" is just unbearable. i don't even watch a full video review when it is about a 6" device... manufactures, why 6" in 2024???
Why? Because I wanted one and I bought one.
Portability
Some people actually prefer portability over a larger device, ya know? Bigger isn’t always better.
if I want something big I'll just bring a real paper book, portability is the main draw of an e-reader for me
I too was skeptical about the size but had all my doubts removed after my order came in. The size is just perfect for one-hand use, which is exactly how I'd like to use an ereader. If it was just a little wider, I'm afraid that wouldn't be comfortable to fit into most palms for long sessions, which is why I went for Clara as opposed to Libra which is even wider than normal because of its right side bezels to accommodate the buttons. Besides, you can adjust the text size.
