As a local, I recommend going to the waterfront and Greenpoint park and more places on that side. The quiet parts of town can be a bit sketchy sometimes but are nice to see with a local who knows the place. Enjoy Cape Town!

Really cool to see what you think of Cape Town, there are many cool places around to check out. Sad to see the Vagrants pestering you but like this person commented just shake your head and don't talk to them and you'll be all good. I recommend speaking to the locals on their favorite spots in the city and around Cape Town this will also help you to see how cool the night life can be... would just recommend you explore it with a local.
Safe travels and happy to have you !

Welcome to the mother City, I see u have a good time...I liked when u corrected the guy with the big5 magnets, this is not Kenya its South Africa even the fact that he talks about the big5 its because of SA.

Welcome Bud.. Yeah, those vagrants hitting you at every corner has become a crisis locally. Don't speak back - just shake your head and move on.
I'm not sure how these guys are wired mentally - looking for free scores. I know the City has several plans to relocate these guys and protect folk more in the future.
Enjoy Cape Town - and head out away from the city - like Tygervalley or Century City or Stellenbosch or Somerset West - there's a ton more to discover ;)

That was as entertaining as watching the baby iguana evade the snakes on bbc planet earth. Glad you made it out with all your possessions. It is a beautiful city, but make no mistake, armed robbery can dampen the vibe in certain areas. That being said, I'm sure you'll be even more blown away by how beautiful Cape Town is in the days to come.

Beggers are annoying, but you handled it very well. But minor compared to the beauty. You are daring to walk around to the outskirts by yourself. Always carry some pepper spray with you, maybe I am just an over-cautious local.

Videos like this are unintentionally misleading. They do not present the intricacies and reality of day to day living in South Africa. The cities in South Africa are very dangerous. Please educate yourselves before considering travelling to South Africa. The people who live here are street-wise and use many techniques to keep themselves safe (and even then most become a crime statistic sooner or later). For foreigners visiting South Africa please chat with the locals before your visit for advice on what to do and what not to do during your stay. And remember, the cities during the day may lull you into a false sense of security, but at night you really need to be cautious. Please stay safe.

Very true, but if you're a South-African you know Cape Province is much better for tourists. The DA run places look like a completely different country. Look at how clean it is. Do yourself a favour, go to Knysna, it used to be amazing, one of the prettiest towns and a tourist hot spot, with the lagoon being a protected wildlife area. The ANC took over with a coalition, it's amazing how fast they could destroy it and make it like the rest of the cities they covern, sewage now runs into the lagoon. They actually found a dead body in the drinking supply of the town. I think it's one of the craziest transformations to be seen in real-time, In the other cities people already forgot how it used to be and just accept the lack of service delivery, crime and rubbish everywhere.

It's common sense to use everywhere you visit in the world that you become cautious of surroundings which you are unfamiliar with. It's not solely with SA unless you want to push a negative agenda on SA.

I’ve lived in SA all my life and I’ve been all over. Nothing bad has ever happened to me.

You sound delirious. Cape Town requires the same safety precaution like any other city. Your need to point out a South Africa sounds bitter.
