      Yes, huge issue as this is marketed to pedalboards and switcher are very common. I have mine working using a midi patchbay but it takes space and it’s just a very annoying bug.

    • @rikhaven
      @rikhaven 11 месяцев назад +2

      Of course there is... In the hx series you have the M5 line of effects (legacy) as well as the new algorithms. So, you can make the comparison with a hx stomp or similar product, I believe.

    • @RafsGearReviews
      @RafsGearReviews Месяц назад

      @@rikhavenno point in comparing it with the infinetly more versatile cab and amp loaded hx stomp. Not even in the same stratosphere. Comparing it to the M5 and Hx effects makes a lot more sense.

    Thank you for an honest and balanced opinion on this amazing little unit... I've got mine for three days or so now, so I certainly haven't fully explored its possibilities, consequently-haven't noticed some of the drawbacks you mention in your video. One thing that I noticed immediately, and which is quite annoying, is that when you press the selection knob and don't turn it fast enough you land in the global options menu instead of the effect categories.
    Otherwise I really enjoy the quality of some of the effects, particularly modulation and delays.

  • @posarelli
    @posarelli 11 месяцев назад +2

    A thing that I personally miss is the capability to save On/Off status of the effect, inside the preset you save.
    If you use a midi controller and an expression pedal attached to the controller, is a very needed feature: so you can change a whole preset for all your pedals and recall a pitch shifter, for instance, but you'll activate using the expression pedal and not immediately (affecting your sound)
    I used to do this in an old Line6 M5 and works perfectly, I don't see why this is not possible on HX one.
    Another confirmed bug is the midi thru not working as they said in the manual.
    They confirmed directly to me in a ticket I sent through line6 web site.
    I also missing the legacy effects list a lot, but seems to be a deliberate choice, not a bug...

    One thing I found that's kind of annoying, if you use an external double footswitch for scrolling through presets, it turns the preset on, I couldn't find a way to make them 'off unless you engage the on switch'. Not a deal breaker, something they could easily give an option for and not really a big deal, just a little annoying.

    Wow not having the momentary option is crazy. The whole reason I wanted to get this was because I wanted the Digitech whammy
    ricochet. Literally the whole point is an automatic hold switch raise octaves release in a steady time based way. Dahm

  • @finyo83
    @finyo83 6 месяцев назад

    I think the volume disparity between effects might be due to leaving the input z parameter on auto. Try setting it to a specific value on all your patches and cycle through them to see if the disparity still occurs.

  • @fishmank27

    One thing I found in trying to use my MC6 MIDI controller for it, at first as I switched to different sections I made on MIDI to engage different pedals for certain song sections or change songs, it would turn the pedal on and off in a frustrating way (CC 1, value 0 to turn on and off). However, found if you assign CC4 and value 0, it will turn it off or bypass it every time you use that MIDI switch. Quirky programming stuff that was not easy to find for me. Maybe it will help someone. Still a lot to figure out. Have not even attempted the Flux, or understanding how the preset saving part works.

    Hey Kai, do you know if the input gate on the hx one affect both inputs? Say I’m running in the 4 cable method for the unit, does it mean the gate is applied twice or does it only apply to the input where I’m running the effect (pre or post)? Or is it fixed where it always affects only a single input (left or right)?

    • @KaiDown
      @KaiDown  10 месяцев назад

      Fairly certain it’s linked to the pedal’s position in your chain - ie, only applied wherever the effect is applied

  • @bretrich
    @bretrich 10 месяцев назад +1

    The dealbreaker for me was when scrolling, the screen is too small to read 3 lines of text. My vision isn't perfect, but this unit could have benefitted from a larger screen or having just one line of text with the number so that you can scroll up or down from there. I typically know my presets by number, but if I can't tell which chorus preset I'm on and I need to scroll, I gotta lean down like an old man to see what number it is.

    • @KaiDown
      @KaiDown  10 месяцев назад +2

      I can see that being a problem for sure. It would be good to have more options for UI given the constraints of the screen. I've got pretty perfect vision and even I have to focus in a lot to read it from standing. Simplified UI under something like "Live Mode" might be better, where it's just the preset name on-screen for better readability

    Is this powerful enough to be used with midi as a multi fx (morningstar mc 6) for example?

    • @KaiDown
      @KaiDown  11 месяцев назад +1

      You can use MIDI to control your preset changes, parameter changes and things like that, but I would be hesitant to grab a MIDI controller solely for the purposes of controlling the HX One. I’d probably sooner opt for an expression pedal and external switch combo instead

    Thanks. All good info to know. I haven't purchased this yet. In Flux mode.... can the mode be set to infinite for the parameter change until the footswitch press brings it back to the non Flux setting? Eg having a short delay as standard then a longer delay continuously on in Flux mode?

    • @KaiDown
      @KaiDown  Год назад +1

      Yes you can - many of the delays have infinite settings, and effect parameters can be controlled by Flux

      Press the parameter knob for the time on delays and it'll switch from ms to note sync - that note sync will work with your tap tempo

    This may sound strange but I just use it simply as my standalone reverb pedal. That’s it. It’s cheaper than a strymon and sounds almost as good. Granted I’m only using a 20% mix at max but really that’s why I couldn’t justify a strymon.
    I know that cordy has said he likes the helix verbs and I can’t disagree. The plate and room are lovely.
    So I set it and forget it… works for me.
    The nice plus is if I do need some other random effect, it’s right there in the unit.

    • @KaiDown
      @KaiDown  11 месяцев назад +1

      I do love the reverbs in HX One - I've been trying to figure out what pedals the HX One is making redundant for the next board build. Reverbs in the HX One are better than anything else I've got, but I also love stacking the HX One modulations with my existing reverb pedal. The standard plate reverb is wonderful, I also really like the new nonlinear reverb and the Ganymede.

    • @theiranxican7412
      @theiranxican7412 11 месяцев назад

      Honestly, your use of this pedal as a standalone is not far off for my use either. For me I'm gonna be using it in front of my Headrush mx5 strictly as a polyphonic pitch shift as I use a bunch of different tunings in my music. The pitch effect is the BEST out of all modelers including Headrush (they have their own downtune).
      On top of that, I'd be using midi control on the hx one alongside the mx5 for setlists. Also can act as tuner, noise gate, and input ohm for guitars that are real high output.
      The digitech drop pedal is too limited in use and function, and the whammy dt is too big and too expensive (although priced the same). So go figure lol
      I'd still be hesitant on the hx one overall but I also had giftcards and vouchers to purchase one. If you find it cheaper then I'd say it's worth considering. 👍

    I bought Hx One assuming it has momentary switches (special for flux), since I have Line 6 Stomp and it has that. Huge miss by Line 6 in my opinion, 10/10 as you put it, really disappointing. Do you thing that can be fixed by software update or is it a hardware thing, so no hope?

    • @KaiDown

      Should be fixable via software update - may even be currently configurable with a MIDI controller

    Why not use the tap/flux button as a stop like all other looper of this form factor. Does my head
