- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has spoken at his rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, about the failed assassination attempt.
Mr Trump is holding a rally alongside his vice presidential pick, JD Vance, a week after the attack by the would-be assassin - however, the event is being held indoors this time.
“Let me begin this evening with a very special thanks to Americans nationwide, including all of you here today, for your extraordinary outpouring of love and support in the wake of the horrific last Saturday event,” he said.
“I shouldn’t be here right now, but something very special happened.”
This speech is better than the one at the RNC. He's feeling it today with the jokes and self-deprecating humor.

Today was my first rally. grand Rapids is my home town. The Van Andel arena was packed(its a huge arena) and in high spirits. Four years ago this city would have protested this rally. but everyone out side the event was pretty chill which is odd for grand rapids in general. I think hes going to win kent country.
