  • If you are like us and wondering where all the sheds are at you will probably enjoy this episode. Lots of bucks still holding and the nicer weather is going to make for a tough home stretch on shed season.

Yeah this has been a weird shed season. I'm not finding any in my usual spots, and it's only early March and it's already 75 degrees outside where I'm at. It's gonna stay warm too so I'm not optimistic about the rest of the month either, might call it early this year.

Just a question for anyone who might have any input. What is the cause for all the dead deer I've been encountering in Iowa throughout the state. I've put on alot of miles and covered alot of different areas. I hit 100 sheds this year on Sunday, but I've probably gone over my 150th dead deer bucks, does, yearlings, shed bucks and I'm not counting the early dead deer from early fall to early winter. I'm talking about the ones that look like they died from about muzzle loader to within the week of finding them. Some I would say are possible muzzle loader bucks, maybe shotgun especially the nicer bucks, but that might only be 10-20 what about the 130-140+. It's been a mild winter to say the least. Is there anything like that pneumonia that effects the sheep I never heard of or is it the crazy number of tics. It does seem like the areas where I have alot of them on me,I find more dead ones. Any ideas would be appreciated. I've been shed hunting for 39 years and have never seen that many except in wolf country or winters with ice storms.
