I was saddened at the demise of the DCUC line of figures! I agree with you whole heartedly that Mattel did both a wonderful and at times terrible job at giving us figures of our beloved heroes! I have a large part of my collection and will cherish them forever!
I love that you're very even-handed with your videos, I think. You're honest with what you like and don't, and I don't think you're too nitpicky or unfair. Excellent video.
when i saw it online for 10$ i was thinking YES! then i got it in hand i was thinking...i dun goof'd. its okay for what it is, however, seems mattel has sculpters that are beginners or have 5 mins to sculpt before their deadline. meanwhile they are getting slaughtered by hasbro.
I just bought my first dcuc figures yesterday on Amazon. I preferred dc direct/dc collectibles when they were on store shelves and I'm figuratively kicking myself over it now
Hi I was wondering which DCUC Batman figure is in the lineup with cyborg superman, Flash and Superman? I do not recognize it but it's a fantastic looking Batman.
Totally agree with all your opinions. I feel exactly the same about Big Barda's height, DCUC Superboy Prime, DC Direct Superboy Prime, DCUC R'as' face and Hush R'as' face being the best )or at least better looking). Great review!
Scale of figures did "urk" me, Kid Flash (compared to Robin) & Captain Cold were short, And figures not made... Johnny Thunder & Thunderbolt, Golden Age Superman, Wonder Woman, & Mr. Terrific, Doc Magnus, The Chief, Mento, Speedy, Dove (male version) and heck, since Uncle Sam, Doll Man & Plas were made, make the Ray, Human Bomb, Phantom Lady (have my Dc Direct) & Black Condor! And a new Beast Boy in the Red suit! LOL, time to make customs!
Scale is often separate than sculpting , and things can be rescaled accidentally at the factory or for cost cutting by Others after the finished sculpt.
I’d love to but unfortunately I don’t have all of them. There are a two or three I need to complete the set. If I ever get them I’ll do a complete release video though for sure.
Not exactly sure. I know that Superboy Prime’s head would be pretty gargantuan on the little Legion 12 pack body. (If that’s the one you are talking about) Also the forearms and legs would likely be too big. That Superboy Prime is bigger than even the Superman from the same wave. Let me look into it. If it’s possible I’ll do it and make a video of it. 👍
What pissed me off was that Mr, Miracle FALLS OVER cuz he has a heavy, heavy cape. SMH I gotta agree like 5 years ago at least toy hunting was awesome as an adult. The dc stuff, my wwe stuff...like you said just walking around was FUN. No everyplace has the same crap, it;s either old or ridiculously priced...ebay was great I got SO many wwe mattel legends for like 10-14$ now they're like 30$ for loose, banged up junk... The last 5 years have brought about a LOT of change...for the worse. It's just not FUN anymore, too many exclusives - and being canadian or form the uk, we gt screwed big time, too many empty shelves... I buy only ROTJ star wars black, secret wars Marvel Legends (like the DCUC Super Powers line)... I couldn't even complete my ghostbusters display cuz the figures are too pricey...just ain't fun, but at least your channel is!
I would have been happy just to just get a rerelease of that Cyborg Superman in the Superman costume when they put out the Sinestro Corp version, I kept waiting for them to release it as a variant (and it wouldnt have been the first time they just rereleased an old figure like that). A better sculpt would have been nice, but it was disappointing they didnt even bother to rerelease the original Reign of the Supermen version from DC SuperHeroes considering how popular that figure was with collectors.
The DCUC/Multiverse figures that let me down the most were basically any figure based teen/young heroes. I always felt they got the scaling wrong. I felt The Tim Drake Robin figure could have been a little taller and damian could have been shorter. The most recent disappointment had to be the Cassie Sandsmark Wonder Girl. WAY TOO TALL. It was the polar opposite of the New 52 Wonder Woman who was much too short. I'm hoping with the new direction Mattel is going after the near Hasbro buyout, that they take more care into designing figures.
For me the worst ones are a mix of ones with terrible quality and ones nobody asked for. Atom Smasher felt like a bootleg, falls apart constantly whenever I try to pose him. The Aquaman in his wave is also just incredibly lame. Omac should have been his modern version. Amazo should have had metallic paint or be a buildable figure to make him stand out more. And then the walmart five pack Catwoman just straight up never wore any outfit like that in the comics and was also very poor quality
Firestorm's boots aren't even close, and the back of his costume should have a sun emblem with rays emanating and connecting symmetrically with his front atom symbol. The DCUC figure is a mess, honestly
I knowingly let this line pass me by, I dabbled in the early DC Super heroes line and wasn't impressed, many moons later I tried out the DCUC Toys R Us Hal Jordan and that was it for me, the articulation was still as awful as the DC Super Heroes had been, it was certainly better overall, but I despise those ugly hip joints, they make it impossible to pose without ruining the flow of both sculpt and paint. I will say mattel did seem to get better with those last few waves of multiverse figures when they finally switched out the hip joints at least so I did end up getting a collection of just those figures with the ball and socket hips. In all honesty though, I'm much happier with the Mcfarlane products so far.
Oh I have to tell you Starfires' uniboob was not because of kids.... it's once again due to Mattel's lack of care and being cheap. They want to reuse the female buck instead of sculpting a new one so they reused the only female buck they had which was Harley Quinn. And her character is wearing a body suit and when that body is being used for Starfire which wears ... not much. It just looks bad and Mattel admit that they being cheap was the reason. Starfire was released under a 2pack with Adam Strange online at Mattycollector.com which wouldn't be targeting kids.
I remember that actually that it was on Matty Collector. I’d forgotten. Wave 13 with Cheetah come out after the mid January 2009 release of the Starfire/Adam Strange 2-pack in mid April 2010. It’s almost as if most of the tooling funds went to Adam Strange.
I had those figures. Strange, I don't remember her having a uniboob. Guess I didn't know any better, or just wasn't paying attention, and it was almost ten years ago.
Hi dude!!! I also love the classics dc universe very much, but we don’t sell them in Russia unfortunately, and buying at EBAY is very expensive, dude help me to collect at least a small fraction of the collection, please
Great video. That Ras Al Guhl wasn't that great for real. The one i own and like alot is from the trinity line from dc direct. He looks more intimidating and fits in great with my Batman villians.
+DOTD25 I have the Trinity one too. I like that one as well. That's the one I display with my big DCUC display while I use the Hush version for a Batman set up. He wouldn't have been half as bad if they didn't use the skinny guy suit on him like everyone else. He should have gotten new sculpting I feel.
They are still far better than any current DC action figures. The DC multiverse, icons, and essentials are just trash the only other respectable DC figures are the signature collection figures.
Dva ! I agree, that first DCUC release of Harley Quinn was so odd to have the blue face. I didn’t even get her until the Mad Love 2 pack because it was at that point they fixed her facial colour to bright white.
Aside from Harley blue face on the first release I think she was OK. Now Raven is a bit of a different story. My complaint about her is the cloak. DCD did the same thing with theirs. I get that it made her instantly recognizable but just never really cared for the ascetic when it came to either figure.
No offense, but I literally sold majority of my Mattel DCUC figs, their quality of their figs feels so cheap. Closely similar to a McDonald's toy. OG DC Direct's versions are way better IMO.
I really, really, really don't like this line and I have almost every single figure in my collection. Faces are flat and the bodies are awful. DC Direct was the way to go. The only saving grace of this line was the character selection.
hmm i think i know why they didnt give us the teen titans full pack, because the teen titans tv series was a huge success, and if kids saw this set, they probably gonna ask their mom to buy this set for they birthday, and starfire boobs will become a flat chest XD
I was saddened at the demise of the DCUC line of figures! I agree with you whole heartedly that Mattel did both a wonderful and at times terrible job at giving us figures of our beloved heroes! I have a large part of my collection and will cherish them forever!
They may have a resurgence with DC Multiverse, hopefully.
Agree about Barda. I think she would have been better as a BAF
I love that you're very even-handed with your videos, I think. You're honest with what you like and don't, and I don't think you're too nitpicky or unfair. Excellent video.
Wow that Big Barda figure has me more frustrated than I expected...
I know right! 😂🙂🤪😭

it bothers the heck out of me when they get the heights wrong, too! great video!
I’m not gonna lie I’ve always wanted that cyborg Superman
DCUC was the best. So many characters in both classic and modern styles.
I have that Sinestro Corps Cyborg Superman. Personally, I like it just fine.
I just bought my first dcuc figures yesterday on Amazon. I preferred dc direct/dc collectibles when they were on store shelves and I'm figuratively kicking myself over it now

Hey Brad got a question is it weird that I am only 14 and want to start collecting with the DCUC figures
I made use of the Big Barda. I used parts of it put them on a taller body and it looks much nicer.
What is the recipe for that Batman at around the 6:10 mark?
Would you make a video just about the Signature Series?
I’d love to but unfortunately I don’t have all of them. There are a two or three I need to complete the set. If I ever get them I’ll do a complete release video though for sure.
Brad The DC Universe Geek cool 😎

Can you kitbash the super boy prime armour onto the normal super boy body?

Always Hate the tiny skinny movie Masters suit mold For all the DCUC "in suit" figures
@brad the dc universe geek
If i mail out a batman to u can u update him like his head sculpt its the modern age growling face batman

True they could have done more with his upper torso. A bit more muscular would have set him off even more. Loved his face sculpt though.
Damn i almost bought that Sinestro Corps Cyborg Superman last year. Someone else beat me to it.
They are still far better than any current DC action figures. The DC multiverse, icons, and essentials are just trash the only other respectable DC figures are the signature collection figures.
I didn't like the Earth 2 Superman from the Justice Buster wave. It looked tacky and it could have been a much better figure.
Harley Quinn dcuo figure with her blue face ....
