You know sometimes men tend to think that expressing love to their male friends openly is disgusting. This is the reason also why most men in my life thinks kpop boys are gay and cringy and I think that's what toxic masculinity looks like.
@@lettersfromrachel1111 I get it. K-Pop fans usually explain to other people that male Idols being clingy is not gay because it is so normal in Asian culture to cuddle and kiss with your friends. Well, in fact it is not (or I should say - definitely not in every Asian country). An average Korean guy looks and behaves more or less like his American or European counterpart. That is why western women are so shocked when they find out men in Korea are nowhere near in terms of looks and behaviour to these princes depicted K-Dramas. Whether K-Pop idols' behaviour in front of cameras is only a fan service or is it natural, coming from, say, sexual teetotalism, is irrelevant. Most men, at least in western countries, do not like to hug too much with their buddies, let alone kiss with them. That is why, when they see boys doing that they automatically assume what you have just stated. Which is by no means "toxic", it is just logical. And them not wanting to show so much affection to other guys is just how they feel and what they are comfortable with. Most straight dudes do not fancy watching gay content either, why would they? This does not make them intollerant or toxic, they just have zero interest in it.

In South EUrope as well as S America ppl can kiss on the cheek as hi/bye, but amongst men it can or may not happen. Usually if they are close, haven't seen eo, or congratulations. Kissing on the cheek in Asia, even for idols is so cringe, in my country it wouldn't be to kiss eo. But cuddling might be lol. It's not just fan service bullshit, these ppl spend 24/7 together. They are a FAMILY. All groups literally only have eo, they don't have much time for other friendships or bonds so their grews much deeper. And yes, it's toxic masculinity not wanting to express affection towards your friends in ANY WAY. Americans/N Europeans are much more culturally cold so they mostly share affection with their partners.
