  • This easy tie is a must for both caddis and midge hatches. Fish it static or with a short pull every few seconds, just to create a little disturbance in the surface. It's also deadly fished dead drift on running water.
Hook: Mustad Heritage C49XAP # 16 and smaller
    Tying thread: Sheer 14/0 grey
    Shuck: UV Enhancer grey
    Body: Tying thread

Mr. Ord Clark, I really enjoy your channel, and would like to thank you for going to the trouble and taking the time to do it. It is greatly appreciated. By the way, I just ordered your book, Fly Tying Techniques, today and can`t wait for it to get here. Thank you for creating the book, I know it will be one of my favorite fly-tying books in my library.

Great fly, do you have a video on how you make your dubbing wax that I see? When I tried it, it came out hard.

I use the raw beeswax you get at the fabric shop 10lbs for 5 bucks, just cut a chunk and go. The smell of it seems to be a boon.

2:1 ratio of rosin and beeswax, and just a little neutral oil (like olive oil) for mixing and some thinning. while it's still melted I pour it into a small container. I just use empty smokeless tobacco tins.

@@electrontube I just rub a bit between my hands, it's sticky enough for natural fibres, the only time I add rosin is if using nylon/dacron etc. dubbing mat.

I don't have a video, but the recipe is:
      15% bee's wax
      65% rosin
      20% Castor oil
Once you have made it and it dries, it will seem hard to the touch, but a small piece, kept on your finger for a couple of minutes will keep it pliable on soft. Good luck!
