Lowtech odyssey with an infinitely better hardpoint layout. This will be fun if I ever find it. The reason why it works so well is the high speed. 150 shown here in this video with 0 flux? Wow, I never manage to outmanoeuver the remnants! Mostly, I try to make a ball of ships they can't crack, but it's incredibly tough against their ECM rating.
You should try the Nova if you like ramming. The Nova has a higher sustained burst speed and (SOMEHOW) has higher ship mass, making it better for ramming. Too bad it requires neural integrator.
@@rottenmeat5934 QoL doesn't work in current 0.96. Also I don't think QoL has this feature. However the Ship Direction Marker (name of the mod) is done by the same author. Just go to the Starsector Forums.
To be perfectly honest anything looks good with 3 Smods, a level 9 officer, player controls and heavily D-modded REDACTED with no real threat to you. I doubt the ship could be of much use in that configuration when AI controlled, making it only really viable in your hands. I personally really dont get your commitment to shields either. You may be better off using High Tech ships if S-modding Hardened Shields is your preferred way of playing. Smodding the Retribution Heavy armor, Shield Shunt and a heavier missile load out would both improve the AI control of the ship and give you more DPS overall
The purpose of this video was mainly to show average SS players who don't know how builds work, how strong retribution can be in player hands. So many people in the unofficial starsector discord were going on about how trash it is, even compared to the aurora for player use. I disagreed. It was also a test for me to see how the cryoblaster build I showcased here compares to the other non-omega build I made before this one. Already several days ahead of you on you trying to complain about cryoblasters. Go watch the ReRetribution video, which uses no cryoblasters at all and is *only* the retribution vs. a Diktat bounty. or don't watch it, whatever. I do not know why anyone would use a Retribution with Heavy Armor and Shield Shunt. My brother in Ludd this ship has base 10k hull base 800 armor. Why are you trying to fully commit to the literal worst aspect of this ship? In contrast, its base flux capacitors of 15k is decent and 1.2 shield efficiency is salvagable. Furthermore, the Retribution has very high top speed for its size class, only 5 less top speed than an aurora. That sort of speed pairs much better with rush in, dump weapons, retreat at high flux, vent, repeat. You want shields for that sort of playstyle, not armor. Also, when I first made this video, it was when the Retribution cost 40 DP. I would never use the retribution for AI for 40 DP. Now that it costs 35 DP, I think it has a place in AI hands and I plan to make a video showcasing it.

That skill loadout should be illegal. Dude, makeshift equipment literally halves your supply use, hull restoration will get rid of all of your Dmods, Field repairs and salvaging are musts, and you’re not even using sensors?!?
Which is the skill issue Being level 15 without having so much money, income and logistics you can pay credits to restore frigate-cruiser d-mods without even batting an eye, Or being level 15 and using a bunch of skill points to gather even more credits that have no real point as of 0.96 beyond paying to restore dmods, buy colony buildings (which you probably have maxed out by level 15 anyway) and buy ships (which you probably aren't doing because your fleet is max size)?
