I cracked up on that part
he’s right
Everyone when they see cows : "COWS!!!!!"
" oh look it's clouding over. "
I live in Nevada. His reaction to the one cloud was perfect.
And the part about highway 50.
"You can become mesmerized by the straightness of it. Soon we became bored by the straightness of it."
UUUGH
When I grew up in Illinois, I thought "not a cloud in the sky" was a figure of speech. Those wispy cirrus clouds are always around, so they can't count, right?
After moving to Southern California, I realized that I was just naive.
I did get a laugh when I heard a CA girl say that "it's freezing outside" was just a figure of speech.
your cmoment 5 years old
Let's go there
When Jeremy Clarkson is praising an American car, you know it's good.
Lolol ikr?
Who's Jeremy Clarkson?
alwcurlz Google can be your friend.
I don't need google for a friend.
for gods sakes is a sports car, (hear me out on this) the ford shelby gt500 2013 is not a muscle car it is beyond that, the viper GTS is not a muscle car it's a sports car, since when did a muscle car made as much as 662 hp that's more then you get on a Lamborghini murcielago, or a pagani zonda c12, hell that's more then what you get on a ferarri 458 italia, that more then what you get on a Lamborghini gallardo and certainly more then a lexus LFA, and i could go on and on why the corvette just isn't a muscle car, and i will, that's more then what you get on a Lamborghini huracan, it is also more then a conventional audi R8, it's more then what you get in a 2000 porsche carera GT, it's more then what you get on a conventional porsche 911 turbo, it's more then what you get on a Saleen S7, and many other super cars, or sports cars, now keep in mind dodge has come out with the new hellcat version of the challenger and charger which i think looks menacing, put some ordinary slick tires in there and suddenly you don't have a muscle car you have a full on proper sports car, and that hellcat even beats an ordinary Lamborghini aventador in horsepower by 7, dodge challenger hellcat = 707 hp Lamborghini aventador = 700 hp. the corvette simply isn't a muscle car, it's like telling bruce willis to play the role of a little mean girl, when we know he is the man across the street ready to beat you in a drag race. it is utter bullshit when you have this cheap as car that IS a sports car, and then you have a Lamborghini gallardo asking for more money then horsepower, and expect to be given an award for something that just isnt impressive WELL DONE FAT MAN FROM KENTUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(read my comment in jeremy clarksons voice)
"It's such a joy to have all this power in a proper manual gear box, non of those Stupid Flappy Paddles!" ~ Clarkson 😂

they have good sense of humor these guys. shame they got sacked over non PC comments. Complete BS.
All those speedlimits on completely empty roads.. Just don't get this..
Greetings from Germany ;)
They're only there for revenue generation for the small towns in the area.
Some places out west have the speed limit as "within reason", which is a clever way of saying, "go as fast as you please".

"It is a documentary, it's not like a fooling around show." - Jeremy Clarkson. I have no idea how he managed to keep a straight face while saying that 😂
Jeremy's hand gestures after being stopped for questioning by the cops is the best part of the video
I have seen this a million times... Top gear was so much enjoyable because these were three friends just having a good time... And james for once was having loads of fun.. love this
I always love it when James gets over his normal driving habits just for a few moments and amazes Jeremy and Richard
all the U.S. government jokes x'D
***** sad but true
The US government is a JOKE!!!
Richard Cranium A bad one...
A real bad one...Strap your helmet on tight and hunker down in your foxhole Cause I don't think we've seen the punchline yet.

"What if someone sees us?" .......... "I don't think they will."
Camera crews: are we jokes to you?
"...and Jeremy's hand gestures are not helping" *Jeremy flips off the american cop*

Why the hell would anyone drive an automatic challenger?
Cggh
Almost most challengers sold are auto.. so pretty much most Americans..
Ben G It's faster than the manual
There was not a manual transmission available, this is one of the first Challengers and all of them were automatic. Until sometime in 2009 Chrysler offered the manual gearbox.
Correct Sir
Imagine a reboot of this with the c7, a ctsv, and the hellcat
That would be awesome if they were still on the show :(
I'd replace the Challenger with a Camaro, but still a great idea
Charlie Wilde that's zr1 not cr7
Fr tho make it happen
No Charlie, with a 2019 zr1, a ctsv and a dodge Demon.
May: *turns traction control off*
May: *spins out trying to do a burnout*
May: "traction control... on"
that 'keyless start' thing is by far the most stupid idea ive ever seen put into practice
Other cars have better implantation that only allows it to start with the proximity key!
Ross MK yeah that's a good idea at least then thieves will have a hard time starting it with anything else but the thing hammonds car has is soooooo stupid
shazaibbiazahs Yea I don't get what the manufacturer was thinking!
Nice, how has your charger been reliability wise and do you like it?
Nice that's really cool!
"Cows"
Why is that literally everyone does this when they see cows on the road?
"Cows"
Because usually we've seen fuck all else along the past eighty miles
Because they were bored.

Such a joy to have all this power and all this handling and a proper manual gearbox.
Truer words haven't been spoken.
The 918, P1 and LaFerrari are the Holy Trinity of HyperCars. Hammond, May and Clarkson are the Holy Trinity of car journalists.
Jeremy was so taking the piss off that policeman...
+Michael Müller Montana used to have no speed limits (except in town of course). Then some cop ticketed a driver for "going too fast" at around 100 miles/hour. So the driver took it to the Montana Supreme Court. The judges nullified the ticket saying "Drivers can go as fast as they want." Then a few weeks later the Legislature passed a law limiting speeds to 75. The politicians want to control how fast we go
.
Brianna Nechelle h
electrictroy2010 yea bruh we must do something they try to get in our mind
electrictroy2010 I would have taken that ticket to keep Montana without speed limits
Let's get these guys back on the air, and get them in the new versions. Hammond, Challenger Hellcat, James the new CTS-V with 640hp and Clarkson in the 2015 Corvette Z06
1000 times YES
That would be awesome!
Apparently they've been spotted filming with a DB11, a Challenger Hellcat and a RR Dawn
Clarkson could Use the C7
+PocketJust yea he could!
Finally somewhere where Jeremy is appreciating the American car he is driving
Its not the first time. Jeremy has secretly owned and appreciated many "yank-tanks")
he owns a Ford GT
A425D7 He actually gave that back, the GT he received was a piece of crap. Most likely he'll never try to get one again.
@@chrispappas3750 aparently it had an aftermarket alarm (not from factory) on it which messed with the electronics
@@starshape6650 _Yeah, it kept reporting to "OnStar" or something that it was stolen 8 times in one day while he was driving it and at first, Clarkson had forgotten his password and it wanted to shut the car down. I think he took it in to get corrected, but it kept doing it. xD._

Man, watching that Corvette ZR1 tear it up was amazing. Pure masterpiece of engineering.
"Even though Cadillac has never heard of Germany." I died 😂
As a Yankee myself, it for some reason brings a smile to my face to see these Brits enjoying those speedsters.
I love muscle cars and I owe a nice Harley Davidson.
Greetz from Germany
James went from "worst car he has ever driven" to "best american car he has ever driven" in the span of no less than a day.....k
grace calis that's how good Cadillacs have gotten. People who complain rail on gm and Cadillac simply don't know what they're talking about
Short list that one.
@@KCMrecordings are you sure about that? They're still pretty terrible cars, certainly the worst brand in the luxury segment. Probably why they hold almost no marketshare even in the US.
tmanepic You clearly haven't driven one, or are not a genuine car enthusiast who has kept up to date with reviews. Do one of those two things, and then get back to me.
@@KCMrecordings clearly you haven't had the opportunity to experience a better vehicle. Drive any comparable Audi/BMW/Mercedes/Lexus back to back with a Cadillac and you'll quickly realize why Cadillac's are almost exclusively bought for rental/hire and you can pick any of them up new far under sticker because Cadillac is so desperate to sell.
why does that desert road even have a speed limit
Paul anthony so we can break it. It's the American way
Karun Chendrimada your comment is a bit late to the party and so is mine
So we can take a picture of it with our speeding ticket under it lol
Revenue generation. Ever wonder why speed traps are a thing? Cops hiding behind large billboards or bushes to catch speeders, yet if they really wanted people to slow down, they'd be in plain sight. It's all about the revenue generation.
To generate income for the smaller towns around it
You know what? After re-watching this episode, it just made me realize how much I love my home country.
The music that plays while Clarkson and May realize they're in sports cars, watching that Corvette drift through the corners of a mountain pass, and then Captain Slow passing up Jeremy. This is one of favorite bits of this show.
did clarkson give the finger to the cops? lol wtf?
I think the cop was probably a fan of the show or something.
They probably told the cop to play along for giggles and shit.
What is he supposed to give them? Carpet burn??
Gravydog316 Obviously he needed to drive away in a high stakes police chase like how a real American would in this scenario.
A proper American greeting
I don't care what anybody says, that challenger is something I would never get sick of looking at. and the power on a car that heavy is impressive.
Amen to that...
Clarkson: Turn the traction control of
May: yes
Clarkson : have u ever done that in you life
May: no
And he imidialy crashed lol
"Traction control…..on"
Lmao I love how James and Jeremy's view on the cars changed from ridiculously stuipid to calling them master pieces
3:08
I've been to that exact same restauraunt
Two coincidences in one I paused the video to read some comments at 3:08.
Lars Johnson Was it good?
Yeah it was pretty good, typical roadside cafe
_The size of those Omelettes and Clarkson saying, "..for a light breakfast." LOL!!_
welcome to america, where our roads go straight, so its not easy to get lost.
Until you find yourself on county roads and city streets in a town or county that you're not from. Seriously, if I told you to find West South Street or West County Road 260 South in my town, you'd be totally lost.
having been to new york, i agree with this statement haha
Not in Boston!
MrDeath018 - you obviously have never driven of Ft. Bragg, NC or through some back roads in the Apalachian mountains.
thelonelyfry Damn right
Have you noticed that the US makes some of the scariest sleepers ever made? Cadillac CTS-V, Dodge SRT-4, Ram SRT-10, GMC Syclone, Tesla Model S, Dodge Omni GLH-S, Buick GNX, Dodge 'Lil Red Express, etc. They went toe to toe with the Europeans and the Japanese and were very competitive!
Hammond's not a real American, a real American can do burnouts with an automatic no problem.
it was all part of the ruse to maintain the secrecy of his american identity
youre right, americans (such as myself) ONLY drive automatic, we’ve learned to do things like burnouts with them. adaptation, if you will
I’m an American, but I prefer manual. I guess that means I’m not a “true American”.
@@jakescartoons6045 you must be one of those european spies!

Tammy Forbes James May bro
Lol clarkson " well done Fatman from Kentucky "
"That's weird."
Really, Hammond? When you've got Clarkson present?
Maria Hammarström are you from Germany
My father told me a story of him and my mother driving one of those long roads in western US (we are from the north central part). Apparently the road was indeed very long and straight, so he gunned it. Flew by an officer while doing roughly 130mph. The officer was equipped with a Corvette, couldnt tell you the year or model. Needless to say, the officer caught him in less than a mile or two. Which meant the vette had to hit some super fast speeds.
Back in the 70's the Kansas Highway Patrol were running Chevelle's with the 454 engine.
Well done FATMAN from Kentucky this is a masterpiece 7:01
the cts-v is just the perfect sports saloon. god i love this car
I have never seen Captain slow move like that. 7:43
Arguably the best episode of Top Gear ever.
And the only one on RUclips.
Drive across America, it's a great vacation and a lot more fun than sitting on some boring beach. These guys make it out as boring, but most roads are not that deserted and there is so much to see.
Go out west on the US Highway System and not the Interstate System and you'll find a LOT of deserted towns.
They should do cannonball run, and actually be real in it as well instead of all the criticism.
vlasktom Many of the old highways run parallel to the Interstate so it's easy to drive through old towns, then get back on the Interstate to make up for lost time. America may be screwed up politically and socially, but geographically it's a beautiful Country. With gas priced as it is, and speed limits unfortunately over-enforced in many places for revenue, I do it in the smallest rental car that meets my needs and never a muscle car.
Let's combine both your's, Robin, with MC Skinboy's: A perimeter cannonball run; meaning, that they would race along the U.S. highways, Interstates and respective State Roads from Florida to California, California to Washington (State), Washington to Maine, and Maine back to Florida. AND...with the national fuel prices down to $2.60, the race should be a snap!!!!!
I live in Nevada and I can confidently tell you, everything is beautiful and boring as all hell. Even in cities like Reno and Las Vegas, I struggle to find anything to do.
Utah resident here, I can also say it is on another level of ungodly boredom here as well.
9:33
That shot is amazing
2:40 reminds me of one of those trees next to a highway about a half hour drive from my town
Traction Control..... On
Tim Sherwood the most James may thing James may has said
6:21 to 9:45 love this part. The ZR1 powersliding through the corners was always my favorite part of the episode. Chevy and Caddy are GM's only worthwhile contributions to the country and it's because of cars like these.
7:06 that was a good turn
The part where they showed the tree with the shoes along with the music was an awesome bit that was part of the video in my opinion.
I recently was at a stop light in my '68 Charger next to a guy in a zr1, and I realized by his expression that we had something in common. We both really like my Charger.
"Here in the mountains James and I discovered we weren’t really driving point and swerve muscle cars. We were in full on sports cars. Richard on the other hand was in a traditional muscle car and he wasn’t having quite such a good time."
'point and shoot'
1:20 speed limit should be 165.
I like when they're in the mountains...guy goes.."Its so planted!"...and love the mechanical music and slide @ 6:56 & 7:05...
Great Cannonball Run reference with the red corvette and the 65mph sign x3

"Traction control on" , that`s my motto for today lol
love how you can here the sincerity whne they're referring to bonneville. They sound genuinely excited.
This is the best of the shorter roadtrips - the bellow of those supercharged LS motors inspired me to move to forced induction - I now drive an E55K
Is James LITTERLY complaining about the Cadillac because it's fast and good
4:00 "a light breakfast"
US 50 in Nevada is an absolutely beautiful road. I got to do this with a 06 mustang gt convertible, traveling from Toledo, Ohio to San Francisco . The loneliest road in America is just unreal and I highly recommend it you have the chance.
I love Vipers, and there are plenty of feel good videos, that I can watch to tell me how awesome they are. However I would love to see, a Grand Tour, "Best Driver's Car", like MT. While I generally have no issue with MT's work, there is something about these 3, and their chemistry, that could take the competition to a whole other level.
"You're such an imbecile." - Jeremy to James when he crashed his CTS on the side of the road 😂
I love this show. These guys are great!
I haven't driven on an open highway in the west yet, but it's one of my goals
some of the best roads in the states are in the national parks, drive 4 hours in a straight line, then winding roads on cliff edges; love it
'i just want to make sure you are doing a documentary'

"After it felt like six years we came across civilisation" :)) Brilliant ! Top Gear episodes pure entertaiment
It’s good to see so much old videos it’s 13 years old

“Have you turned the traction control off?”
“Yes.”
“Have you ever done that in your life?”
“No.”
"Are you listening, Ferrari?"
Jeremy had the key. That key fob at 4:30 is an insert and turn.
"Oh yeah, it's a documentary, not a fooling around show."
Flips of the cop while he's talking.
"what if anybody sees us?"
jeremy: "looks around"
i dieded😂
Yes. In this day and age in the U.S. an automatic is usually the same price as a manual. It comes down to if you want to bother with a manual. I personally think manuals are extremely fun to drive, even as a daily driver.
LMAO I cracked up when Jeremy parked Richard's Dodge in the middle of the road! hahaha!!!! That was pretty mischievous. xD
