Great part of the world- I lived in Xifeng in Qingyang city (about 8 hours south of Lanzhou, still in Gansu) for a year. Just a small backwater but with great people and some killer food! I'll never forget the Dongbei restaurant I called 'home' for the year, the sweetest owners who even busted their gut to translate the menu into English! And the small mum n pop jiaozi joint across the road from the college I worked at. Amazing jiaozi made with love!
I'm pretty damn impressed they can understand him. Then again his accent lowkey reminds me of the dialect of people who come from the Beijing area sometimes.

@@jbniks It's a Islamic word meaning "Legal". The Meat is legal in Islam when the animal was killed in accordance with Islamic requirements, namely the slaughter of the animal followed by a ritual.
The word "香(xiang)" in Chinese is very commonly used to describe food, but also very tricky to translate into English. It has the meaning of "delicious", "smells good", "rich in flavor", "feels good to chew"...etc. So... "Aromatic" is not a bad way to translate it, and the word is not wierd at all in Chinese.

I could die happy in a place like that. Hand pulled noodles are the best thing ever. It's almost physically painful watching him eat that and not being able to smell and eat it yourself. And what a work out for those guys. Their hands and forearms must be like steel. I had an uncle who was a steel worker in the foundry and he could tear quarters in half.
