all season tires no doubt. just because you have a 4 wheel drive doesn't make you invincible in the snow. id take a 2 wheel drive with good snow tires a a locking diff over a 4 wheel drive with bad tires any day.
If he kept inching it he may of got it. But once he was able to get a little speed he just went for it and ended up putting the truck in to deep to get out.

I’m in Maine, have same truck. I have studded snows, he doesn’t. He looks experienced and by the looks of it, did everything right. Without snow tires, not much you can do. Sometimes you just get stuck! No knock on the driver. I keep a half dozen 50# bags of sand in my bed. Not only for weight, but to spread out in front of my wheels if need be. Usually someone else’s wheels, but that’s cool, it’s cheap. His was an easy stuck, I’m sure he got out fine. So close!
