John woo was the first director I truly followed because to me it was the first time I could tell who made the movie just by watching it (him amd Tony Scott now that I remember), his style is so distinctive and unique which is why it was copied heavily by Hollywood snobs. Johnnie To is another action director master class from Hong Kong.
Who came here for a JCVD and John woo after watching Hard Target!! I just want to say thank you so much JCVD for introducing me to one of the best directors to ever do it especially in the action of the genre! John woo is a fucking beast #Legend!
As an action movie fan, I love John Woo more than any director in this world, and he's the reason I'm proud that HK is the first foreign country I visited and is also the foreign country I've visited the most number of times!
My Favorite American action films of his are Hard Target 1993, Broken Arrow 1996, Face/Off and He was Executive Producer of The Replacement Killers 1998 with Chow Yun- Fat The Big Hit 1998 with Mark Wahlberg, Directed BlackJack 1998 with dolph lundgren and Mission Impossible 2 2000 with Tom Cruise . Windtalkers 2002 with Nicholas Cage and Bullet Proof Monk 2003 with Chow Yun-fat And now Slient Night 2023 those are my top 10 action films he did . thanks Again John woo your a legend .
Since the mid 90s I've heard of John Woo. I knew he directed some Chow Yun Fat films and soon he was directing films than in included Van Damm, Travolta ( twice( , Cage( twice) , Cruise a few years later Affleck. Lets not forget he was involved with a TV series and TV film starring Lundgren . I'd see them multiple times. In some martial arts documentaries Woo would be included. I was a fan quick! Stop action , difficult camera angles , stand offs, doves ( representing anti violence) and children singing nursery songs became h is trademark. I'm still waiting for the remake " To Catch a Theif"
I saw that twice in theater at a Chinese film festival at Greenwich Village, New York. It played for just 1 week. Chow Yun Fat made an appearance at one of the showings. I didn't get to see him, unfortunately.
este director si que sabe accion pura en peliculas muy entretenido sabe como captar al publico ya no hay directores asi,hoy en dia pura mierda pantalla verde puro CGI una mierda
Mr John Woo I hope you can make a film and as a director on a movie for actors Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo as I read your biography and see a film click as an actor and as a good director of your generation in US and around asia. Thank you🙏

Tsui Hark and Ringo Lam were great too. But John Woo is my favorite.
Same here. Been a fan since 1990..

JCVD and his unforgettable greasy ass epic mullet. Hard Target is a classic in my book, it's so ridiculously good.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you for sharing!
hard boiled , the killer , the better tomorrow are classic which will be never be repeated ever not even close
Hard Boiled is something else. It is sooooo Awesome. 😊
John woo, legend for sure ❤🔥
Mi2 is his best and most successful film 🎥
My favorite is Hard Boiled 1992
I saw that twice in theater at a Chinese film festival at Greenwich Village, New York. It played for just 1 week. Chow Yun Fat made an appearance at one of the showings. I didn't get to see him, unfortunately.
Silent Night(2023) was a good action-drama. Joel Kinnaman could play Mad Max in a film.
John is a legend!
Irene Chen Yi Ling was an ultra-pretty Shaw Brothers starlet. She picks a fight with Tien Niu in Thirteen(1974).
Windtalkers(2003) was a little messy, but I enjoyed it. Lam Ching Ying played a cold-blooded Vietnamese guy in Woo's Heroes Shed No Tears(1985).
Now I really want to see a Woo musical film.
I remember the rumors in 1992 or so of possible Star Wars directing...the time is now...Mandalorian!
