Thanks. We washed the first load of clothes in our new Samsung washer. When it went into the spin cycle, it bounced and shook severely. I quickly stopped it. I thought some clothes had gotten knotted together, so I carefully took them out and back in. No luck. After watching your video, I looked at the back and saw the shipping bolts still installed. I am a senior and struggled to get behind the washer to remove them. Once done, everything worked perfectly. Thanks to presenters like you who make many of our lives much better.
Thank you for this video Ben. We bought a used set off Craigslist and when it went to the spin cycle the machine would shake violently. Turns out the shipping bolts on the back of the machine were still in place. After taking those out it spins like it normally should. You saved me a lot of money and headache chasing a problem that did not exist.
Just bought this set brand new after getting scammed on a used set that didnt operate at all and came home to hook it all up and the washer was bouncing all over the place. Saw this video and turns out the shipping bolts were still in and after taking those out it spins like a charm. Huge thanks to you brother 👍🏼
Having done the spider arm along with shocks and bearings myself on my Samsung, this is spot on info and pricing. Except the time. It took three afternoons to do all that!
Thanks 👍👍 Just removed the 3 transportbolts on our AEG we purchased a short while ago and were about to call a technician. You saved us a lot of expenses 🎉👏👏👏

Both technical videos like this one as well as industry related info like another I saw where you surveyed technicians providing numerical reliability and opinion based quality related data, processed down by you. This type of credible info is not easily found anywhere. Again, excellent and thank you!!. Well done. Hopefully I will be seeking out your advice on new purchases, (not too often), in the future and not as many focused on problem resolution. :) I know subscribing helps you recoup some of the "value" you provide. You solved our problem so quickly. Bought the washer second hand off Marketplace and when it was shaking violently during the spin cycle I watched your vid and it was the shipping bolts still in place. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this informative video. I bought a used washer and dryer that was shaking like crazy and found out my feet were not leveled and the counter balance was completely snapped in half! Now I know exactly what to fix. Thank you❤️
Wow.brand new same model you have there. Those bolts in the back were making the washer rock and roll across the floor! Easy fix once you showed what they looked like. Glad you showed the white peg in addition to the screws and huge black washer.
My experience: the shock was not "extremely difficult" to press in as you stated it should be - just a fair/moderate amount of resistance, so I thought it was bad. I purchased new shocks, and the new ones were just like the old ones, both of which worked fine. Open up the washer cabinet and shine a bright flashlight in there - look for any kind of grit/gravel/pebbles/debris, even just a tiny bit - I noticed a little bit as a result of the front-left concrete counterbalance in my washer cracking in half - less than 3 years old. Had to disassemble the front with instructions from another video to figure this out, which would also need to be done to replace the front shocks. Would up spending about $150 for a replacement counter balance and a specialized bolt that sheered off, and had to remove the sheared-off bolt and patch a hole in the plastic drum that was caused by this issue (used a soldering iron to re-melt some plastic).
Ben is the very best. Especially his videos on what to get and what to avoid. Man, the amount of absolute garbage on the market is astounding. Seems like we have lessening decent options these days, with no change in sight. This Samsung washer in the video is total and unequivocal crap. Don’t buy crap my people!
I want to thank you so much for your video. I was beside myself as to why our washer was throwing itself across the room during spin cycle. Discovered, because of your video, shipping bolts were never removed by delivery team 🤨
Hi Ben, Like I’ve been working on this LG front loader which keeps getting out of balance (while spinning and centrifugation). I’ve disabled the washing machine now for the third time and just can’t figure out what’s wrong. I’ve noticed that the drum isn’t aligned properly (as if it has sagged a bit) but I went through all checkpoints (spider bracket assembly is still intact, the bearings look good, no transport bolds, replaced the shock breakers, washer is levelled properly, the drum looks fine etc) and still every time I reassemble and let the washing program run, it starts shaking and doesn’t finish the washing of centrifuging cycle. I came across your video and was wondering about step 8 (7:53 minute) ''the spider bracket assembly was pushed back in to far''. Can’t this movement (tolerance) be explained because the stator plate has not removed? Doesn’t the stator plate actually holds the bracket assembly in place once the bold is fixed?! Like I’ve noticed I can move the bracket once I removed the stator plate, but this doesn’t surprise me as the bold (and stator plate) are removed so I can take out the inner drum. This is mind boggling me now for some days and I hope to be able to obtain some further explanation on this point as I don't understand it properly 😊 I really hope to hear from you! Best regards, Cris
Changed the dampers and it’s still having a hard time going into spin cycle. Counterweights seem fine. And bearing is good. So my question is do the springs get stretched out? They seem fine but don’t have new ones to compare to. We use these washers for a small B&B so they get a lot more use then a residential application. Any help much appreciated
So Ben, how did you end up fixing that play? Did you just retightened and blue locktighted that holding bolt onto the motor? Please let us know. Personally, I had a recurring bad knocking-banging that occurred during the spin cycle. For me, the culprit was a broken bolt, one of those that hold the cement counter balancing ballast on the drum of my front load Samsung washer, model: WF45R6100AC/US. It's the 2nd time I have to replace it... So in my opinion, t's a design flaw, because the cement block has a section that hang loosely exerting some momentum force on that bolt because it extend without support toward its end. Anyway, it was cheap to replace that M8x1.25x 1.65 long bolt because this Samsung was easy to disassemble. I had to melt the plastic wrapping that block because it was slightly cracked by that bolt and was starting to decompose and leak powdered cement from all this shaking. I used a milk bottle to add melted plastic because it's made out of high density polyethylene. Thanks for your comprehensive troubleshooting hints.
Great video, mine has a broken bolt in bottom of left counterbalancer… can you tell me what the torque specs are on those? And maybe the rear spindle bolt?
That looks like a Samsung WF45R6100 series washer. I'm surprised that the customer threw it away. Its a fairly new washer thats been on the market for just a few years. I've haven't seen any major issues on the 6100 and 6300 series front load washers. From what I've seen, Samsung is improving and are getting better built.
Just outside of warranty and you are infact 100% correct it's a WF45R6100. It's literally new and flawless outside of this bearing/shaft issue thats pushing the tub when loaded to grind against the front of tub
I have the same one with a similar issue. I paid $600 for it brand new. If it’s $500 to fix it then it’s not worth the money. Which is probably why they threw it away.
Thanks for the video! How can you tell if the shock absorbers have gone bad? I know you say it should be difficult to press them in, but how difficult exactly? I can fully depress the shocks with minimal effort. Is this what might be causing my washing machine to have a super loud banging sound? I just don’t want to replace the shocks if it turns out to be something else! Thank you!!
Thank you for your videos. They are fabulous and super helpful. Currently our Samsung washer is ripped apart in our living room....and we are stumped. It all started because on small loads things are fine, but larger loads the machine wobbles profusely. The spider arm is intact but when we rotate the drum it does look like maybe there is a wobble in it. What's the chance we have a warped drum? Or bent shaft on the spider arm? There's nothing obvious. We are debating purchasing a new drum with spider arm...or just new spider arm. We did have a bolt shoot out that held the cement weights and sheared off another bolt. We fixed all that but thought maybe when that shaking occured it bent something...just not sure if that something would have been the drum.
Similar issue. My machine isn't old enough to have worn out the spider arm and the shipping bolts were removed at installation. A heavy comforter was washed once on Heavy Duty instead of Bedding and something happened. The drum shows slightly unround when spun by hand. I haven't found any information about whether the drum itself can warp or a spindle arm can bend. Did you ever figure yours out?
@@mushfigmammadov4110 It was the counterweight bolts. Reading back on the reviews, 100% of them fail on my Samsung model. Easy fix though. Check your bolts!
Hi Ben, thanks for your video, very informative and helpful. Can I ask you a question? My 8-year old Samsung washer has been doing this lately, failing to finish the spin cycle and returning to the previous cycle, but with no codes. When it runs empty, there is no problem completing all spin cycles. Changed shocks recently, but it ran normally only for a couple of months. Checked 8 things except the 9th one: PCB in the control board. If it is PCB, is it a DIY friendly task? Thank you!
I'll do a video on them sometime. They are super neat... you can use the Stator and bearing systems for electrical generation. You can make windmills or watermill out of them and power things.
Thanks for the videos you make. I doubt you will ever read this, but i hope you do. Question, how do i remove a stuck drum? I own a Samsung washing machine model WA40J3000A2 and because of the krud at the bottom and around the drum im unable to pull it up. Thanks in advance
Ben, thank you very much by providing detailed explanation on the possible points of failure. I have either the same or similar model of Samsung washer. It had developed same problem and so far the technician from my local appliance store (P.C. Richard's) was unable to diagnose or fix the issue. Thank you again.
Hey Ben, you said in the video the problem was the play in the shaft and “it” had to be replaced. What did you replace. The inner drum, bearings, or spider?
I have a fairly new Samsung front loader very close to this model. Same bolts and assembly. A heavy comforter was washed on Heavy Duty instead of the Bedding setting. Now I get the violent shaking and thumping and when I spin the metal drum it looks slightly warped or unround. Is it possible to break a spider arm from a single unbalanced wash on a 6 month old machine, or can the drum itself become unround or warped? Thanks in advance.
The plastic casing AND the metal drum inside the casing are leaning backwards. The springs are in place. Could it be the shock absorbers? Or do you have another suggestion? Thanks in advance.
Excellent coverage on possible fixes for clothes washer. Is the spider gearing a weak part of these washers and would you recommend another manufacturer that is built better with a better overall performance rating? Thanks
LG is better IMO. It's a major problem on every washer from an engineering challenge, but getting legitimately good bearings and brackets arguably requires commercial quality like a Speed Queen or Huebesch or Dexter for the absolute best. For consumer grade, I do like LG generally
Before you purchase anything, make sure there is a warranty-authorized servicer within a reasonable distance that can repair it. Some places will only work on certain brands.
Great video replaced the dampers on washing machine and then I noticed the shipping bolts were still on, that’s why the machine was shaking so violently
LG washers are consistently good. I am not saying they are perfect but it seems like they have critical failures less than other big brands for HE machines
Thank you for this video! I was able to diagnose the issue as the very last thing you show in the video, excess play in the bracket and bearing assembly. Do i need to replace the bearing or the spider gear?
the Samsung wf45t6000 model had a problem with the weight balancers actually cracking in half and breaking. Sometimes the 3 bolts actually back out and the weight just hangs on halfway and breaks a hole in the tub, I don't see it as often anymore though so they must be fixing it. For as many as I've seen it's weird that there's not much that I can find about it online.
Currently waiting on Samsung to ship a replacement WF45B6300 due to failed counterweight/bolt(s) backing out. So no, Samsung has not improved on that. But I agree, there is very little easily found online about these specific issues, and how to prevent them like ensuring the bolts are properly installed from the factory and maybe adding loctite.
This is exactly what happened to mine that I purchased in mid-2000 (less than 3 years ago). The left front tub balancer cracked in half, the middle bolt backed out where the balancer cracked in half, and another bolt sheared off in the mounting hole - the third bolt I unscrewed. Small hole in the tub where the balancer cracked in half and bolt backed out. I'll try to fix it up, through I'm not all that much of a handyman.
I just had this happen to me on a 2 month old Samsung. 1 bolt broke out of the top the other backed out and the weight of the assembly cracked the balancer
@@uniqueProductionsSCwas it still under warranty? Just wondering what I’m going to have to go through to get this fixed/resolved since I just had the same issue.
Should the shock absorbers be lose for example when I move the drum up and down the shock absorber move to but they are bolted down just not sure how much play they should have
i have a kenmore elite about 10 years old, and it is in an above ground laundry room it has the extra drawer under it so the height is huge, and its hollow drawer under plus not on a concrete floor like it would be in the basement, that thing rock and rolls when it spins and even shakes pictures on the wall and dances forward always had to push it back.I put on the rubber pads under each leg witch stopped the thing but now this washer is almost as tall as me and im 6-3 thank you for the link for vibration pad that may be the solution.
thanks a lot I bought a new LG washing machine 22KG direct drive top laoding but I am trying to balance level and stabilize it but there is no directional info in the user manual that came with it and also the top surface is curved so can you help me thanks in advance .
I had a Frigidaire front loader that I replaced the drum bearings on at one point. Later the spider assembly rotted into pieces and being unable to replace just the spider it was almost more to replace the whole drum to fix it than it was to just purchase a new washer. My understanding is some washers, depending on the manufacturer, you can replace just the spider without having to replace the whole drum.
Yes. Some are sealed systems others aren't. You have to look the assemblies up to figure it out. All the Samsungs I've seen allow replacement. But I've heard the newest are welded on...
Would the failure show at the end of this video cause the gasket to be damaged at the front of the tub? I have a similar Samsung washer that is very noisy during spin and has ripped off chunks of gasket at the tub to gasket interface.
well... nevermind... I put 4 weld spots to put the bearing and shaft together and fixed the issue... I will save the money for a decent washer once this dies on me again
Full loads or over loads cause the seal to flex and let a little water into the bearings and it will wash the grease out eventually.they need a double seal with a drain tube between.
Were you able to fix this unit and if you did do you have a video fixing the actual issue? It appears that you identified the issue but I didn’t see an in depth fix of that specific issue.
No, because it required a bearing/bracket system which is beyond the nominal cost to repair it. It wouldn't show up until we ran it for about 6 loads, so it made for a good dummy unit to use/test for videos showing all the far more likely situations
I replaced the springs and shocks. You should remove the front weights if you are removing the springs. This is not a difficult job at all. Just a bit time consuming. Around 2.5 hors if it's your first time. If you buy the replacement package with the black and yellow shocks just know that the yellow ones typically go in the rear. My machine is very quiet now and while I had the load lightened when making the replacement I added rubber noise reducing foot pads which were around 20 bucks on amazon. This was also a great time to clean under the machine. I unplugged it only and kept the water lines still connected. You only need about a two feet behind the machine to get to the shocks. Just remember to run your self clean atleast once a month and don't use bleach. Bleach eats away at the aluminum spider arm. If you use powder detergent you have to run self clean once a month. I think the manufacturer recommends running it every fourth loads but I do it more frequently.
my samsung washer wf511abw/xaa gets to 6 or 7 minutes left and keeps on spinning, goes back to 13, gets to 6 minutes, puts a little water in, starts spinning again, never finishing the cycle... i replaced the spider web, pressure sensor, what else can i do? also, how do i calibrate the machine, would that help?
Would love to figure out why mine is vibrating. Literally 1 year old and just out of warranty. This video helps I’ll be checking my whole washer it’s a WF45R6300AW
When adjusting the feet it's important to also snug that locking nut up against the body of the machine. This locks the foot in place and prevents the foot from wobbling during the spin cycle.
I see you called the corroded drum spyder issue. Is that still a Samsung problem? They completely fell apart in 10 years on the earlier machines. Too expensive to fix. Whirlpool, LG and Frigidaire seem better.
I 3d printed a small tube from TPU filament to replace the original rubber. About 5 cents per piece. Split the tube along its length, add grease, install. It works a treat, the spring is now like a shock absorber with retarded recoil and the system is back to original tension.
I continue to have a problem with the design of a 'front-loading washer'. It seems to me that the opportunity for leakage can be avoided by buying a 'top loading washer'. What are your thoughts on this subject? TIA.
I fix appliances for a living in years and years ive only seen them leak from bad bearings or the door seal being cut by knives or crap left in pockets i see way more leaks from top load washers however front loaders are harder to work on
I see just as many leaks from frontloaders as top loaders. You have to clean the door gasket and make sure nasty build ups don't cause gaps in the doors. Otherwise leaking occurs from general failures in hoses, pumps, or dispensers and toploads have those too. What I worry about more are the machine killer fixes like bad bearings and anymore we see those more often on toploads than front loaders, IMHO
Weird about the shipping bolts: my washer came with a ‘short sheet’ for installing/first use taped to the door that said in 72pt font, bold, to remove those bolts. As did the front of the manual. And the tags hanging off of the cord. And the outside of the shipping box. It became my life’s mission to get those damn bolts out before the first use! Shame the machine (LG WM4000H*A/01) DIED inside of the second year…and I hear Samsung is generally worse?!
My Samsung front loader ecobubble spins smooth and perfect when it's empty, and the drum turns just fine and round when i test it by hand, but makes a horrible banging noise when there are clothes being spun in it. Please help. I've leveled the legs, there are no shipping bolts in, cleaned the drainage trap, calibrated the machine, rearranged the load midspin, and now I'm at my wits end. Edit: turns out 1 of the drum suspenders had detached from the drum, probably due to moving; once it got fixed back into place is been running smoothly again, thank God
My friend owns an appliance store The Samsung washer was in the house we bought 9 years ago .It was 2 year old Now it makes a horrible noise spinning As soon as i said that, he said "its the bearings." IF you can find someone to work on it ,the cost will be more than a new machine He said you might look at the bearings & find the spider arm needs replacing, then something else ,so costs & labour mount+++. he said keep it as long as you can stand the noise till it fails. Washing machines rarely last >10 years if that. Just to check i goggled "samsung washer noise on spin" A very helpful short video said exactly the same
Without removing anything you can usually tell if the spider is bad so I'd do that first. As the video says they cost about $150 and replacement is kind of involved and would usually only make sense if you did it yourself if you feel up to it... You may find other problems though so you may need other parts and regret having taken it on. If it's been bouncing around for some time you could have other damage and time and cost could go up... It's an unknown... A damaged tub is possible as one example. So consider the risk and reward here...

Thank you!
Thank you so much! I still had the shipping bolts in my machine and you just saved the day! Thank you Thank you Thank you!
So helpful, thankyou for taking the time to make such a thorough video!
The cute uniform and hat definitely pulls you into your videos.
I had never seen how direct drive is done! Thank you so much 😊
I'll do a video on them sometime. They are super neat... you can use the Stator and bearing systems for electrical generation. You can make windmills or watermill out of them and power things.
@@bensappliancesandjunk I love that, Ben!
What if you spin it like at 3:30 and you hear something busted behind the tub? Would that be the spider bracket?
Hey Ben, you said in the video the problem was the play in the shaft and “it” had to be replaced. What did you replace. The inner drum, bearings, or spider?
I think he meant the bearing.
Yeah I just want to know specifically what he replaced...@@kage860
What if the drum its self spin smooth but not when loaded ?
It shakes so bad it walks out of the laundry room
My concrete garage floor is pretty rough. Would an anti-vibration mat help?
Very helpful. Thanks a lot for the video, it helped me fix my brand new machine
Looking for a good over the stove microwave.
You guys have any suggestions?
Samsung was cheap and door broke
Just bought a used LG top load I really like. Not long ago I bought a used LG dryer that has been flawless so i kept my eye out for a LG washer...
Did you fix this I have the same issue. Excess play wondering if it's just a bearing problem or both
the Samsung wf45t6000 model had a problem with the weight balancers actually cracking in half and breaking.
I just had this happen to me as well.
@@uniqueProductionsSCwas it still under warranty? Just wondering what I’m going to have to go through to get this fixed/resolved since I just had the same issue.
Should the shock absorbers be lose for example when I move the drum up and down the shock absorber move to but they are bolted down just not sure how much play they should have
I have a question.
Looking in getting a 22” washer because of limited space Avanti portable. Is it junk or will it work
Thanks
It looks like my spider bracket assembly has the play you show in the video. What exactly has to be replaced? Can you direct me to the part?
i have a kenmore elite about 10 years old, and it is in an above ground laundry room it has the extra drawer under it so the height is huge, and its hollow drawer under plus not on a concrete floor like it would be in the basement, that thing rock and rolls when it spins and even shakes pictures on the wall and dances forward always had to push it back.I put on the rubber pads under each leg witch stopped the thing but now this washer is almost as tall as me and im 6-3 thank you for the link for vibration pad that may be the solution.
thanks a lot I bought a new LG washing machine 22KG direct drive top laoding but I am trying to balance
level and stabilize it but there is no directional info in the user manual that came with it and also the top
surface is curved so can you help me thanks in advance .
I got the same problem as this video. What exactly you replaced to fix it?
well... nevermind... I put 4 weld spots to put the bearing and shaft together and fixed the issue... I will save the money for a decent washer once this dies on me again
Nevermind... I have the washer death sentence. Most of my spider bracket is in the drain plug. Full of plastic. Great video though, much appreciated!
Full loads or over loads cause the seal to flex and let a little water into the bearings and it will wash the grease out eventually.they need a double seal with a drain tube between.
Thanks for the informative video!
In this case, what’s the common cases for it shaking because you said somethings are rare
I’m trying to find the link for the anti vibration mat but didn’t see it
Did you ever find one?...I can't even find one online to buy
Thank you for explaining everything clearly. It solved my problem. 😄
Thanks! Mine was the shipping bolts.
Ben, which washers have sealed drums?
Were you able to fix this unit and if you did do you have a video fixing the actual issue? It appears that you identified the issue but I didn’t see an in depth fix of that specific issue.
No, because it required a bearing/bracket system which is beyond the nominal cost to repair it. It wouldn't show up until we ran it for about 6 loads, so it made for a good dummy unit to use/test for videos showing all the far more likely situations
@@bensappliancesandjunk I think mine is having this exact problem. Is it worth trying to get it fixed?
Likely the board if its still doing that. Just make sure its not unleveled and the shocks are good
Hi I having the same problem with wf45m5100aw. How do I fix this problem? Thank you
Samsung is the new Maytag appliances. They rarely break and are built tough as a 1970 Chevy Nova.
Disagreed totally...
Yeah I subscribed bro definitely helped out💯💯
May I ask what would be the cost of the bearing assembly?
I just bought mine for $80 on ebay. A whole kit. Both bearings and a seal.
Great info. We'll done! Thanks.
I have a brad new Samsung 2023 washer and the drum is unbalanced when turned by hand.
Its a Lemon.
A drum should run true, especially when New.
Gosh i had all these issues already an i only bought this yesterday started to set up last night here using it nw
My shipping bolts are not installed anymore. But it is so loud still and does vibrate and have a knocking sound…it is level and I cannot figure it out
Would love to figure out why mine is vibrating. Literally 1 year old and just out of warranty. This video helps I’ll be checking my whole washer it’s a WF45R6300AW
Most common issue is the counter balance weight.
wow the bolts was the problem, the 4 shipping bolts in the backs , fixed the problem
Thank you sooooooooo much
W O W I think you just save me a lot of money Thank you
You the man!!!
When adjusting the feet it's important to also snug that locking nut up against the body of the machine. This locks the foot in place and prevents the foot from wobbling during the spin cycle.
Thank you
awesome dude
Thanks for help
I get SC, what does that mean?
Good luck sir
Shipping bolts for me thank you good sir!!!! 😅
Lost me with the MayTag costume an Walmart drill lol jk good video
I have the exact same one. Brand New. Shaking like crazy
@@jasonleatherwood2172 Thanks for your input.
@@bensappliancesandjunk Appreciate your perspective.
Seems like Samsung spider arms are built to disintegrate. I've had 2 fail from the same model WF1104XAC. Never again!
As the video says they cost about $150 and replacement is kind of involved
and would usually only make sense if you did it yourself if you feel up to it...
You may find other problems though so you may need other parts and regret having taken it on.
If it's been bouncing around for some time you could have other damage and time and cost could go up...
It's an unknown...
A damaged tub is possible as one example.
So consider the risk and reward here...
