      Is Your name spelled Andra? A Kent Andra moved my family here to Missouri. The family has French and...some Nordic blood. There was an Arctic explorer by that b name, launched a balloon, was never seen again, I believe.

    Have you tried putting the simple ground cot set up in hammock form? Putting the two end pieces of the simple set up in the extra sleeves at the top and bottom, making a hammock style flat bed. It would kinda end up been like the type of hanging bed used in sailing ships way back in the day

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  6 лет назад

      Trying to visualize what you are suggesting. Do you mean to leave the side rails in while in hammock mode?

    • @druface12345
      @druface12345 6 лет назад

      You would end up with 4 poles in the bed making it, The Amazing "Swinging" Camp Bed. kinda like a hanging cot.

    I bought your cot and pulled it out of the pouch it was tucked in , spread it out to look at it then went to put it back in the folding pouch, we used the cardboard instruction card as a guide to make the folds, that made it easy but the cardboard card didn't stand up to well, could you make the card a laminated card ? this would last and make it very easy to fold the cot back to fit the pouch ( and I love this cot )

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  3 года назад

      I think you bring up a very good point about making the card more durable. You should know that we have also posted a video that shows customers how to fold the cot and chair so that it will fit back in the pocket. Thank you so much for the feedback.

    A very clever product. I believe it would be more versatile if it were longer and wider. The sleep area needs to be about 40"X90". Also the ends, before they are folded over and sewn, should be cut in a parabolic curve so you can make a gathered end hammock out of it as well. The parabolic shape will keep the sides of the hammock higher than the middle to eliminate the undesirable "calf ridge" found in inexpensive box store hammocks. Make the built in stuff pocket just a little larger to accommodate the extra fabric and stuffed, it will be a larger pillow. Of course, you'll need to raise the price to match the more material used and the additional labor involved............... Another view. Thanks for sharing.

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  2 года назад +1

      I really like your ideas. The way we are making them now we can make the sleep area a little bigger and I think that's a great suggestion. I'd like to play around with some of your other ideas also. Thank you so much for this comment

    As a newbie proud UK owner of the AWCC from Jeep (Econo Challenge), all I can say is - (a) DAMN comfortable in hammock mode (even with different hang setup!!, (b) VERY high quality, and (c) Jeep is a truly decent guy, and kept following up until I received my parcel (postal delays beyond his control).... so get yours today folks, and get the camp chair too... PERFECT!
    BTW - the AWCC can also be used as a stretcher!

      +EconoChallenge of course its not done! You'll probably add an integrated mosquito net, or make a version that can double as a backpack! But it is definitely approaching perfection, very well done sir.If you find water wicking down the cords in hammock mode, you can tie on a dribble cord. I learned that trick after some frustration trying to understand the source of my wet sleeping bag one morning.Thanks for posting/inventing Jeep.

    It would not hurt to add a hanging pocket so that one could put a flash light and a few other things inside it before going to bed. Plus, it would be nice to be able to reach over and grab the flash light if there is a bump in the night. just a simple hanging pocket is all. Thanks for the video.

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  8 лет назад

      +qzetu That is a great suggestion. I am going to put that on the list for the next upgrade. I am constantly putting my glasses under the bed so I don`t step on them getting out of bed. A small pocket is a much better idea.

    • @qzetu
      @qzetu 8 лет назад +1

      +EconoChallenge Some people may not like the idea of a hanging pocket so I would add a few buttons or snap on buttons so they could fold it under and away. You might as well add a pillow case of the same material in which one could stuff with leafs and the sort.

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  8 лет назад

      .

    • @qzetu
      @qzetu 8 лет назад

      EconoChallenge I noticed the extra material at the end but you did not demonstrate its uses. I think that is a cool feature but I would prefer to have a loose pillow. I like things that can be used for more than one thing. It would be much more versatile if I could detach it from the cot so I could use it as a sack.to put things in. I'd also prefer a larger pillow. Something that is as wide as the cot, which has snap on buttons at the four corners of the pillow to attack to the ends of the cot. I can also take the pillow case to what ever I want to stuff it with rather than it to the case. Adding grommets to the for corners of the cot would be a cool add on so that it could also be used as a shelter is a survival situation. Just some ideas.

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  8 лет назад

      qzetu
      You have given me some ideas here for sure. Thank you. The pillow pocket was demonstrated in a previous version of this cot. I guess in hind sight I should not have assumed the all viewers have already seen that video. Your idea about using this as a shelter is the next generation of this piece of kit. shhhhhh. Don`t tell anyone yet. ;-)

  • @scoutsniper485
    @scoutsniper485 7 лет назад +2

    Now if u could run velcro down the full length long ways and attach another camp cot. U would also have a survival tarp. Just tie a ridge line and some paracord and stakes. Wow. It really would do everything

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  7 лет назад

      We have been playing with something close to that for about a year now. It closes with velcro so you can open it into a small tarp. It still works as a cot and chair. But ... you need to be very careful that you don't poke a hole in it while using it as a cot or chair because then it becomes a less useful tarp.

    In the version using two logs on the ground: instead of fussing with notches, just drive four stakes you cut, one at each corner. Easier work plus easily allows to make bed tight as the fabric stretches. Lazy man's improvement! (Unless ground is hard frozen!)

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  6 лет назад

      I have not tried it yet but I do know what you are talking about. Frozen ground and in my neck of the woods, good old granite just under the surface is the problem

    Great video! An amazing, versatile piece of gear! I´m really interested in acquiring one, but on the website I can´t see the Amazing Wilderness Camp Cot 4.0. The one that is listed has different specs. Is it being sold yet?

  • @northboundcanadian

    What's the weight limit?

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  8 лет назад

      +northboundcanadian The old cot could hold 400 lbs. We demonstrated that in an older video. This version has not been weight tested yet in hammock mode. But in cot mode it will certainly hold up to 400 lbs.

    Dude! I'm so embarrassed. I just made a comment about my idea from what I'd seen on another of your vblogs, then I watched this one, and this camp cot you have allowed you to do exactly what I'd thought was my grand idea.
    I'm gonna just keep watching your videos.

    • @EconoChallenge
      @EconoChallenge  8 лет назад +2

      I read over you suggestion under my previous video. It was people like yourself that watched and then made suggestions that pushed me to the final solution that made this project Amazing. So thank you for being one of those people. I have said it before the best thing I could have done to advance my knowledge of camping, hiking and bushcraft was start a RUclips channel. We have the best community on RUclips. I hope you post what you create so I and others can see it.

    As always, great fun to watch any of your videos. I think you've done a great job with the Amazing Camp Bed and I hope you're successful in selling many of them. I noticed you pacing out the length of the poles for the raised bed configuration and I was wondering if you provide any guidance to the new user on their length. I like the hammock configuration you developed too. I'm naturally lazy, so fast and easy is a big plus to me!
