That's alot stuff Shawn! I don't have my old game systems anymore, nes and up. So I emulate my past games. It's easier to scan through your games than switching CD's or Carts and saves you a lot of space.
I have absolutely NO problem with how/what people collect. If you want your game collection for shelf art, okay. If you want to play it everyday, that's awesome. If you want to horde all those games because it makes you feel good, then do it! There's no right or wrong with this sh!t and we have to knock gatekeepers off their high horses. I have a very modest retro game collection and I dont play these games every day. And I'm fine with that. I started collecting, again, because I was feeling nostalgia for those great days growing up in the 90s and I wanted to go back. It's all good, do what makes you happy.
I hate that people are giving him shit. He’s absolutely right. Selling individual items on eBay can make you tons of money but once you have a huge collection good luck trying to sell it. They struck a fair deal and I’m sure he didn’t get full market value for it all but I’d take the $40,000 to just be done with the hassle.
Yeah if he wanna sell each item one-by-one would be a full time job for years and then he will have no time to continue as a youtuber. I think he did the right thing. He saved YEARS, and that's a huge profit. Just imagine trying to sell each item one by one! Write down all items as a list, try to come up with a fair price tag, and keep track on each "customer" that wanna buy something. And make sure that the customer will transfer the money to him. And also to ship all items to all customers. Only a few people might live close enough to come and visit and pick the item at his place or outside. RGT did the right thing! I'm happy for him! And also happy for the buyer! And I enjoy the videos related to this deal!

Sometimes being able to get rid of a large collection at once instead of trying to piece it out for months is a better option if money doesn't matter to you.

Damn that boy phoenix BALLIN, love to see it. Good move on both ends, really cleared some of my questions as to how collectors feel having these big collections.
I did exactly the same thing and it was one of the most liberating experiences ever. My place was starting to look like a junk shop. The only physical media I buy now is first party Switch games so I can trade them as soon as I'm finished because they hold more value than PS5 or Xbox games. I have a laptop that I run emulation (Arcade/PS1/PS2/DC/GC/PCE/MSX) with my Series S controller and a PS5 and Series S where everything is digital. People talk a lot about physical games, but I've been through that phase and come out the other side. You think you're going to play it all, but you don't. It just takes up space. Then there's the remakes. RE4, Ikaruga Remastered, Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime have been fantastic and 4 games I've taken out of my GC emulation collection. I hope to see more. Even though I emulate, I also have 101 Arcade Archives games, 30 ACA NEOGEO games, all of the M2 Shot Triggers, Darius and Ray Force games on PS5, my 360 collection on Series S and all of the Sega Ages games on Switch with all the Live Wire Cave shmups and a whole bunch of arcade style games. I love that M2 and Hamster exist and take emulation so seriously and eliminate latency where others just don't bother. I love the convenience of it all. I can just start a game with a controller.
All the work that goes into trying to resell a collection this big is crazy. I get overwhelmed when i have a couple boxes of stuff to list. Great buy thou awesome collection.
Seeing the whole collection was really satisfying. I also loved hearing some of the background on certain items and games, gives them some real sentimental value. Love to see it, keep up the good work bros 👍
