This is a copy of Caravaggios "David with the head of Goliath". It is painted in originalsize 95x116cm (37x46in) with the pigments available at the time of creation.
You can see the steps of white highlighting, colouring and glazing.
Take time, enjoy and ask if you have questions.

Please do not be disheartened by the unpleasant comments. I love watching your time-lapse. It helps with my painting. You have amazing talent. Do continue sharing. Tq.
A masterpiece by itself. Bravo !
Thank you! I am old, art wasn’t an option for me to study. I’ve never had lessons. I am very happy to watch and learn. I’ve been painting since I was 11-12.
You're never too old to Learn!!
Perfect music choice for Caravagio head kill painting. Nice work and thanx for the process
Cool painting
Amazing work and good taste of music! Just perfect :)
how fascinating the painting 😍🤩🤩
Gracias por compartir
I had a friend in high school that dressed punk, was getting drunk in the w-e, and loved ancient greek language and was very good at it!
You remind me of him. :)
awesome choice of music and work:P
Lovely Agony's expression. Amazing work!
amazing job, i would really like to paint like that one day.
Amazing art work, superb
You are an incredible painter.
Shadows (layered) are applied first and then lights (layered). Finally, the glazing. each phase (shadows, lights and glazing) is made up of several layers. The shadows are made with the same color as the primer (imprimatura).
Aaah, how boring..
Yes, it's the right basics

I don't know and I haven't found someone who does it right. But I do it right. If you want me to explain, get in touch via Instagram.

yes, this painter did everything wrong.
This is so relaxing to watch. My new bedtime videos 🤩
One of the coolest paintings. Good video
wow! very very good!
Nice the music.👍Fun. But nice painting and thank for the sharing
I loved that the music and the art don't match haha. That's different!
I felt like it matched perfectly. Haha
@@kouyshima6897 same :)
When talent comes from Lucifer 😈
This is exactly how I paint with acrylics (obviously not at this skill level because omfg this is insane) maybe I should look into oil!
Definitely-and throw the acrylics!
Nice
I like the painting and the music- don't change for anyone
Beautiful👍👍👍
A "tutorial" with absolutely no info on what colors using, process, nothing. Great. Thanks. Very informative and helpful.
That's not for beginners or dilletants. You need a basic knowledge of painting using that technique. Then you would know what colours are used..
The skin for instance is a so-called Grisaille technique, very common at the era of Caravaggio.
Fantástico...
I love your work 🧡🔥
Thank you very much for sharing, I've recently taken up painting and I love the style of Caravaggio's paintings. Could you give us a rundown of the colours/brushes used?
My standard colours I introduced at the beginning of this video:
ruclips.net/video/ahb5Ch_Ctfg/видео.html
I prefer black sable bushes for the softer parts (da Vinci Serie 1840 & 1845) and Tintoretto Setola Extra 285 & 295. But I always look for other brands so it can change.
Amazing! Your work is fabulous.
You are fantastic. Would love to see your palette as you paint. Thanks for sharing
Thank you, very watchable. My only wish is the colours you used was mentiones at each stage, ie other than white wjat colour was used for first coat, and which browns were used for background etc
This possible to paint with acrylic?
How long does it take to realise that painting ? Very well done !
Spettacolare
Bravo!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Amazing painting and painting skill
The process for oil painting like old masters are actually from Dark shades to light colours of shade.
Plot twist: different masters had different techniques.
@@marketadohnalova2341 great artists have different strokes but the process of dark to light shade is same in every master's work.
@@Upwangupta782 Nope.
I'm excited! it's unbeatable! Bravo! I have a question: what colors do you use? thank you very much for the answer 🤗
Muting the music made possible following the film up to the end. !!!!!!...nice work there.
perfect i wish i was ur student
It would be amazing if you explain step by step what to do instead of just watching. Thanks.
The music is incongruous to the art...I’m staying.....
What colour did you make skin toon plz mention
how do you do the grazing? how ratio and material do you use for glazing? Good job
didn't know caravaggio had square brushes
I hope you're not claiming this was his technique.
This is just my opinion, but some nice Baroque lute music would go well with your Caravaggio videos
Danke schön 😁
You used almost all the pictorial resources here. I see experience and technique in the process👍, but Caravaggio ... his very refined and high-quality technique in handling transitions like a great tenebrist that he was in his stories, because he told stories in a refined technique.
This is incredible. May I ask how long this took to completion? I’d like to attempt working in oil with this layering style of the old masters, but I’d like to complete it within a month!
It took about two weeks. If you want to complete within a short time, take a fast drying oil as medium. I use self made blackoil, you can also use linseed oil varnish.
Underpainting and glazing method used take time to 1-2weeks, but if you are using wet on wet like what caravaggio did , you can make 2 paintings just in a single day.
@@francescamariarosariatranc6819 e Caravaggio abbozzava a biacca spesso....
What sort of music is that???
is this technique doable for acrylic painting?
Not bad for trying a classical Caravaggio, try to use only the colors that he used for a better finish.
I like the warm goldish Yellow layer on the ground at first, before all... which color is it?
My best guess would be a thin yellow of burnt umber
Sorry man. I justwant to ask. do you paint a brown layer before start painting, or the canvas is from an other material?
First I put on a layer of cold rabbit glue on the raw canvas. One day later I applied a layer of oilcolour with the knife. It was a mix of linseed oil with chalk, ochre and umber.
@@oldmasterpaintings thanks man
how do you sketch on the under paint?
is it ok to trace a figure on then paint it?
Perfectly ok, just be aware of how your chosen material (pencil, charcoal, etc) you are tracing with will affect your oil paint as you start painting over it. A soft grade pencil will easily mix with your oil paint, especially with lighter tones, and in that, I do not recommend doing so. If ultimately you find tracing easier with a pencil, then get a harder grade pencil; I would say a 2H would do just fine. Psst. Even if you were to have an "impurity" brought on by the lead of a pencil, you can easily cover it later.
Normally I take chalk, from white to brown. Sometimes as a pencil, sometimes as whole piece.
Chalk mixes with oils and you won´t see any rests of it.
I would subscribe if you chose different music for your videos, to paint or learn anything you need a calm mind, how about something that facilitates that?
It's a shame you're not able to turn OFF your volume, that must suck.
The music is great for that painting. I love it yeah 😎
What colour is your imprimatura and is the white thinned out (underpainting)?
The imprimitura was a yellowish umber, looks like a yellow ocher but dries faster.
I only paint with pure colour and a small amount of a fast drying oil like linseed oil varnish or selfmade blackoil. No solvents at all.
On most parts I add a little oil on the white.
what is the yellowish base?
The yellow base is an oilground.
@@oldmasterpaintings Thank you!!
@@oldmasterpaintings what is beneath the oil ground? did you put Seize, or red or white gesso ?
This is a timelapse, not a tutorial...
Nice vid. Pity that I can't say same about your tattoos and girlish haircut.
Very good but it's kitsch!
Great video !!! Music sucks
The music is painful. Good bye.
why just not turn off music
this painting is amazing
You most find your oun paiting style.
This is too metal.
Well Caravaggio was a very good painter, but I would imagine he would go insane if he had to listen to that racket you've played. The painting is OK as far as it goes, but the subject is dreadful. I personally have never woken up in the morning and said to myself, "Today I'm going to paint a bloke holding a victim's head up for all to presumably
We start with some fucking rotten music
The music is disturbing
