    My immediate take away is Foxy talking about being connected to people and checking in with friends. I have so many guys in my life who are clearly struggling because they think being a man is all about not showing emotions and being vulnerable.

      Tim, that is so common. Be the person who gets them to open up. Find those opportunities for chatting. A walk in the countryside (walk and talk) is ideal and we use this all the time.

    Thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. No military links or background but this can apply to so many different life situations. Incredible to get that much experience and knowledge in one room, communicating it in such a clear and honest way. More of this is really needed, cheers guys. The experience of guys in the forces needs to be more public, it's so valuable and it's borne out of huge, huge selflessness and bravery.

    You have all done amazing. I live in N Ireland, my dad lived in Belfast so I spent a lot of time in Belfast grew up just outside Belfast. That was a rough time over here, I grew up with the soldiers here check points everywhere it was just part of my life. The thing that really sticks out with me was when I was actually doing my driving test and the army stopped me fck my nerves where already shattered then they had to check mine and the examiner’s licenses then the soldier laughed and said you will pass lol I DID PASS lol. I will say you’d did have it hard over here…..

    Why did I join the Military? 1976, Parents divorced, living in Luton, left school with no qualifications, succession of dead end jobs ie: slaughterhouse, warehouse, hat factory, trainee butler at Luton Hoo, waiter in buffet at Luton Airport, just found life incredibly dull and boring and was therefore looking for some adventure and excitement. Well I certainly found that in the military! Best thing I ever did.

      Thanks for the feedback. Being honest, this was the first 'in-person' podcast I had ever done...and as a former door kicker/combat leader I was learning on the job. Yes, the visuals aren't great I admit that and I have learnt a lot from it. Thats also a point from the Pod - you learn from doing, not from talking about doing. "guy's like these deserve a better viewing", whilst that might be true, the most senior and experienced guy amongst them was just doing his best setting it up. The whole chat only happened as I suggested it on the day, and we threw it together with zero planning. Sometimes some context helps people who were just flicking through RUclips whilst bored understand.

    Would you say that you need to reach a point of no return before you actually realise you need help if that makes sense? Bit like making your own mistakes, rather then being told what to do, soon as you make a mistake, then you learn from it, would it be the same for how foxy described the cliff edge moment, would help prior to this have helped, or do we need to be in that end zone so to speak before we realise, we need that help now.

    • @DuratusUK
      @DuratusUK  3 года назад +1

      That question makes complete sense but I would say that, no you do not need to reach a point of no return. The best way to maintain a good level of personal wellbeing and health (physical and mental) is to have good habits. Some of these would be to check in regularly with people you trust, to regularly exercise, to regularly get the optimum amount of sleep (>than 7.5 hours), to regularly maintain your social circles etc. Foxy would be the first to admit he made mistakes by withdrawing from the people who he cared for and bottled up his problems until they nearly overwhelmed him. Dudes, talk more and talk more often!
