I had this same question also and with my little understanding of the arabic language, a bit of research and applying sound reasoning I came to the following conclusion. The word mutawafika comes from the triliteral root wafaa'i where we get tawafa which could mean to die (take the soul away permanently) or to die temporarily (take the soul away and return it) as demonstrated in the Quran itself 39:42. If you're trying to use this verse to support the crucifixion then there are other verses in the Quran that clearly refutes the claim that Jesus was crucified or killed (as per the Quran) and not only does those verses refutes the claim that he died, it also supports the interpretation of mutawaffika in verse 55 as not being dead. If he died and was resurrected it doesn't make him God nor would it make him God if he didn't die before going up to heaven. For yourself as a Christian, the interpretation of the word mutawaffika doesn't support your doctrine whatsoever nor does it falsify the Quran. Either way my brother this claim of yours does nothing for our salvation. Neither of us could prove if he's dead or alive and neither of us could prevent his second coming.
Jazakallah The recitation of the Quran is so beautiful and Alhamdullilah it is so nice to understand the Quran Makes me want to go back and read the verses mentioned over and over again There was one thing I could not understand when you mentioned that Jesus and John were cousins. Zakharia was Mary’s uncle , so Mary and John should be cousins
Masha-Allah this is so beautiful, however you mentioned that the two sisters had Yaya and Jesus which made them first cousins. This is incorrect because Miriam gave birth to Jesus not her mom. This make Miriam and Yaya first cousin and not Jesus and Yaya first cousins. Zakariah was Miriam ‘s uncle. Please correct me if I am wrong. Shukran and May Allah bless you in abundance for this beautiful work.
Q: Why did the Meccans withdrew from Uhad battle ground despite their initial success under Khalid Bin Waleed, who we know later became Muslim? Answer: Please verify. When the polytheists understood that they would not be able to do anything else, they decided that it would be better to withdraw lest they should be defeated by Muslims who started to gather strength; and they withdrew. Muslims got their strength back after learning their leader the messenger of Allah was alive.
Assalamualikum wrwb, I am a bit confused please clear me, If Zakaria (a) is the uncle of Maryam (a) and Yahiya (a) is Zakaria (a)'s son then Isha (a) and Yahaya (a) will be uncle and nephew.
Correct me if I'm wrong:- 1) Zakariya(AS) was father of Yahya(AS) and Uncle ( Khalu) of Maryam ( AS). 2) Yahya (AS) & Maryam (AS) are cousins. 3) Yahya(AS) was maternal uncle of Isa(AS).
32:52 I think you said, "the Bible had not been translated into Hebrew until a few more centuries." I don't understand, the Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew, never translated from another language into Hebrew. Also, there were Arabs in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus' mutawaffika. The Injil reported this, Acts 2:11
I think he was referring to the new testament specifically when he said Bible. You seem pretty smart to be picking on such a petty thing but you also seem to be going along with the theme in the comment section. Acts 2:11 isn't saying the Arabs were there at the time of Jesus's "death". This doesn't really prove anything so i'm only correcting you based on my analysis. Their ability to speak the language was only because of the holy spirit and even then they didn't understand what they were saying.
29:55 you talk about verse 59. I think you are reading more into the verse than is actually there. You use the verse to speak against a core Christian belief about divinity. The verse is only saying Adam came from God when God said "be." He's making the point that Jesus' coming was similar. Isn't the verse saying they both had unique arrivals to earth?
Yes, you're correct, the verse on it's own is only comparing their birth without distinction in the eyes of God, but when taken into consideration the context within the chapter itself and the entirety of the Quran, there's no doubt the verse is trying to disprove the core Christian doctrine. It is comparing the two to logically refute the claim of those who believed Jesus was divine because of his miraculous birth.

you have misinterpreted verse 113. the verse is talking about those who converted to Islam at the beginning of Islam. this community is at the time of the prophet not right now.

Masha-Allah this is so beautiful, however you mentioned that the two sisters had Yaya and Jesus which made them first cousins. This is incorrect because Miriam gave birth to Jesus not her mom.
How can I ask this sheikh?
Assalamualikum wrwb, I am a bit confused please clear me,
If Zakaria (a) is the uncle of Maryam (a) and Yahiya (a) is Zakaria (a)'s son then Isha (a) and Yahaya (a) will be uncle and nephew.
I agree they would NOT be first cousins but not actual uncle/nephew either BECAUSE Yahyah AS and Myriam are first cousins.
Correct me if I'm wrong:-
1) Zakariya(AS) was father of Yahya(AS) and Uncle ( Khalu) of Maryam ( AS).
2) Yahya (AS) & Maryam (AS) are cousins.
3) Yahya(AS) was maternal uncle of Isa(AS).
Please forgive me if my understanding is incorrect. If Yahya(AS) is the son of Marium(AS)'s khala, doesn't it make Marium(AS) and Yahya(AS) cousins?
