One of the best artists ever with one of the best songs ever. Johnny Thunders - You can't put your arms around a memory Live & Wasted unplugged 1990 RIP 1952-1991
Classic Johnny Thunders at the end "well you ain't gonna get rock n roll on a fucking acoustic guitar"...dude is still rawer than young bands out there.
I was with johnny on many shows back in new york at max,s kansas city with walter lure and freddy lindser the manager of blondie and we would have a blast after the show on the 3rd floor , Johnny was always wasted on heroin and one night he was jacked on his way to the show by some blacks that stole his guitar so he had to borrow one from the one of the bands that opened for johnny , He loved playing fucked up because he grew into always being fucked up and he could never get enough!...RIP JOHN
100% correct.... Jagger and Richards? Their major influence was Chicago blues. During the earliest years Mick was known to carry around a lot of Chicago blues album, I've read accounts (via Keith). Stuff like Muddy, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy, Bo Diddly..... the Stones main influence was Chicago rock 'n roll. If you could warp back in time to the beginning of their band and do a "What's in my bag?" with Mick or Keith, I'd wage most of those vinyls would be Chicago blues/r'n'roll musicians....
Johnny was the New York seen Along with the Ramones and his first band the New york dolls that put punk on the map way before the pistols ....it was NEW YORK and not England that punk was born from , for all you teenie boppers that think you know punk and think it was the pistols that started it all you better read your punk history because new york was the first even though it did not get the recognition that the pistols brought to the scene it still is the homeland of PUNK ,!
@deadboys1010 Amen, brother. I don't think he played guitar well at all, but he influinced me and countless others. I think he was a complete idiot to waste his life that way, and I miss him.
This is my favorite version of this song it's so Raw!
I finally found it I agree with you 💯
