Nerds unite! We have a floor standing globe that my mother in-law bought my two daughters back in the mid 90s. It's brass with raised mountains. Our daughters used to give each other "globe lessons" and they were and still are very good at knowing where countries are located. However, some of those countries have changed a bit since we got that globe. It still sits right next to the fireplace.
Another fantastic video! My parents gave me my first globe at age 9 in 1970. I studied it every day. Pick out a country and I could find it. I was hooked for life. To this day, I give directions based upon where I am on the planet. It’s an orientation that most people don’t have, because they never had a globe. Keep up the good work Kyle!
Brings back memories of my 6th grade geography class with the notorious country test they gave. I practiced by spinning our old globe and stopping my finger on random countries. I don't know why I never got a globe of my own, but this kinda puts me in the mood
Love this angle of content, Kyle. The only way you've "sunk" is that the camera angle sunk to film you opening the box! Both globes are really cool, first one is seriously beautiful but I really like the second one too!! Thanks for sharing with us :)
I’ve got a Mova globe. It’s very cool-spins on its own. So awesome, but I wouldn’t tell anyone to buy it. Very pricey. I got a sizable bonus at work and bought that with a part of the bonus as a way to memorialize the accomplishment.
My first globe belonged to my grandparents and is pre WW2 with that unified Germany . I have alcollected them over the years and now have over 30. From whimsical like a piggybank globe roughly shaped like a pig, to Ohio Art ( makers of EtchaSketch) to crystal. I recently loaned my collection to a local library for a display case
I’ve been wanting a nice globe for a long time but get overwhelmed when looking for one!! Would love to see a “favorite globes” video or something like that!!!
Fun, Fun….lets go! Awesome globe. I’ve been playing Earthle the last few years and discovered many tiny countries, within a country, ie: San Marino. Plus, there are dozens of tiny island countries. Are these tiny countries displayed on your globe? Had fun watching you unbox!
Everyone should either have their own globe or have access to one at school, library, etc. It would be great for reducing the rampant ignorance of world geography so prevalent these days.
I got a slightly smaller version of your globe for Christmas. It has a bulb internally so it looks bright and warm. It sits next to my keyboard so I can instantly check where places I see on the Web are.
@@GeographyKing If you live in a grey, damp country like the UK make sure that any illuminated globe you get has blue oceans and lots of 'warm' yellow countries. My globe makes me think of summer and cheers me up!
25 years ago I purchased for my new home a beautiful Replogle globe with floor stand. I don't use it often but when I want it, I really want it, and sometimes enjoy traveling the world with my eyes. Best of all it has a full representation of Antarctica that can be viewed by rolling it over on the stand. So easy to use. Years ago I actually went to Antarctica and love to go back on my globe and relive that magical experience.
They nicely contrast each other. I have a globe that opens up the reveal a set of bar tools, and crystal ice bucket, and a martini shaker and glasses! The glove weighs a ton, but to the person who made it, the globe itself is amazing. It has tactile topography, and is beautifully laquered, creating a sepia tone. But the real beauty of its geographic antiquity. It features the Soviet Union, it is before the creation of the Israeli state, and Vietnam and Korea are single nations. I'm not entirely certain when it was rendered; it was in my father's study when i was a kid, and it piqued my interest on world geography and how to mix the perfect martini!
People say time is flying. The earth equator is 25,000 miles around. A full day is 24 hours. So the surface of the earth is moving eastward close to 1,000 mph. Yep, flying.
Surprised that this is only your 2nd one. The great thing about no blue oceans is that you can have blue countries. Also a globe is something you can’t see properly on a computer screen, so nice to have.
Very nice, Kyle, but the scissors made me nervous about young ‘uns that might be watching. I use a standard box cutter for so much…indispensable tool! Keep up the awesome work, and be safe.
Can't have just one globe, right? I like your collection. Some for geographical features, and now one for political boundaries. Overall, it appears to be high quality, but that bulging ridge around the equator could have been avoided with a better design. Still, a nice globe.
The most important thing you can give your kid is a globe. I'm repeatedly shocked at how clueless people are with respect to geography. But you should have waited a few months when all of Ukraine will be annexed by Russia, and Greenland invaded and annexed by Trump.
Not sure who is the bigger nerd here: You for doing a video on unboxing a globe, or me for watching it....and enjoying it.🤣

the 1st one you showed was Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!
It was a gift about 20 years ago. I'm not sure where they got it from, but I've rarely seen one since.

@@GeographyKingI had one. Sold it and got a globe that I could actually use.
The King out here doing unboxing videos 😆. Love it.
A new Globe for the Geography King! Nice!
I just ordered a globe, I've wanted one for a while but this video reminded me to order one.
That’s one beautiful globe, Kyle!
Shoulda held up a plate just to mess with us

People can now say that Kyle, at one point, had the world in his hands.

I always wanted to walk up to a cop with a globe and say, "Excuse me officer, I'm lost..."
“You are here.” *Holds out globe

Wow, it looks like a giant pearl!
I love this!! Great way for Kyle to keep the channel fresh and nerdy 😁😁😁
LOVE my Waypoint Geographic globe I got 2 years ago!
This was my first globe unboxing! I watched it with my daughter and loved it! Very cool!

Wow that sounds pretty impressive.
If your globe is 1' in diameter, which most are, a ball 1/4 that diameter, 3", can represent the moon if placed 15' away.
That sounds like math.
Boxing Day - Dec 26. Unboxing Day - Jan 15.
I’ve been wanting a nice globe for a long time but get overwhelmed when looking for one!! Would love to see a “favorite globes” video or something like that!!!
This is actually the first unboxing video I've ever watched haha
I was thinking that too
Where have you been since 2009??
I had a globe in my room back in the day. Globes sure have changed over the years and that delights me. Awesome globe dude
I love maps....and...globes too!!!
nice globe king
Hell yeah Kyle
My first globe was an old-fashioned one on a tall wooden stand with legs, that lit up with a light bulb inside. I thought it was so cool.
The birthing of a globe🎉 ❤❤❤

I’ve got two globes from the 1960’s. All the countries have the old names - like there is North Vietnam and South Vietnam.

The website has illuminated versions of most of their globes. I'd like to have one of those as well.

Christmas comes late for Kyle💗💗💗
Oh yes! Globes are awesome! They me of the globe scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind 🌎
so epic!!
Do a video on your globe collection!
This might have been it. Do we know that Kyle has a storeroom full of globes?
I have nothing to say to this but HELL YEAH!
I'd like a globe like the one Nero Wolfe has in his office.
I want a globe like the one in Close Encounters.
For one of my dad's work milestones, he got a globe. It's not like the ones you put on a table that you have
Are the mountain ranges raised at all? They look like they might be. We had one like that growing up and i just loved it!
No it's not raised relief but they have ones they sell that are.
I would happily invest in a beautifully crafted globe if the names of cities and countries - and their borders - remained static.
I didn't know they still made globes.
3:30 about a minute before and never prior.
Thanks for popping by globe unboxing ...
Like a kid on Christmas.
Hell Yeah!
Anyone else looking for a new glove now?

Pee Wee’s playhouse. Remember Globey ?
That thing has to be textured, right? An untextured globe would be unfit for a king.
Unbox a globe on the anniversary of your channel.
A new globe in 2025 is still kinda neat.
