Space laces is one of the most forward thinking producers in the game. Disco Bloodbath was so far ahead of its time that when the second rendition came out on vaultage 1 it still sounded like it was from the future somehow even though the idea is almost 10 year old, insane. One of my favorite songs of all time.

When I found cornandbeans on newgrounds way back in 2009 during the (personally) golden flash era, It really connected with me and the whole Space Laces brand has inspired me to push my own projects to way higher lengths. One thing I've realized is that Quality over Quantity will always be better over time as the quality becomes the quantity. One of the main down-sides to this though, is that you gain a lot of mental strain on your brain as you're trying to push yourself a LOT, and given how fast the average music listener consumes music now, it's a pretty unforgivable scene.
That being said, I'd MUCH rather end up being an artist where I can look back at most of my releases and be proud that I put those out and that I put in the hours trying to hone my craft.
It's kind of ironic that the people that care about music the most will never find comfort as their comfort zone will always expand.
Like Vaultage 003's quote (that's 100% a quote from somewhere else hahaha):
"It's clear that you consider yourself a serious person, a serious seeker.
That's the first assumption you want to challenge.
You're sure that a serious seeker is what you are, and you think I see you that way too.
But, this is not the case.
Your gesture suggests that you're in an uncomfortable place. Good for you.
That's always the best place to be. Being so uncomfortable means
you soon have to move. That's the journey that drives the journey of awakening."
Big ups Space Laces, can't wait to see Ian again one day and play some more smash hahaha

Oh hi BVSSIC. Yeah, I've slowly been coming to terms with the fact that I take so much time with producing one single song that some people find it stupid or overkill, but I really shouldn't care. I'm only just now am starting to put out content that I'm happy with, even with the flaws that I end up finding in it later on. That's important to me personally. Some people find the opposite to be more important for their lives, and that's fine.

The new video style is great! For me, space laces represents what not just every bass music artist, but every artist in general dreams they could be. Not having to worry about social media and gimmicks, and able to take as much time as they want to make something great. It’s just sad that this isn’t encouraged nowadays, especially for up and coming artists.

I used to play with space laces in a pretty obscure multiplayer game. I had no idea he made music until by some sheer coincidence, someone *also* playing this obscure game who turned out to be involved with his music career irl (manager for a label? agent?) said something jokingly about his name related to his music, and space laces responded. They eventually figured out who the other was and had a good laugh. I looked him up and got hooked on his music immediately.

3:20 Something really similar happened to me a few years ago. Basically I produce music under three different names: SARiKAiDEN, Colorful Shapes, and 2E8A (music for that one hasn’t been released yet). The reason for different names is because they each deal with different aspects of music, for instance 2E8A is a lot darker and horror centric, while SARiKAiDEN is more upbeat and blippy. Anywho, the point is, I lost almost All of my older music because the hardrive the projects were stored onto was accidentally factory reset. It really bummed me out knowing that I’d never have access to that music again and that all that work was just gone. Of course I’m nowhere near as good as Space Laces, but still, it really sucked. That’s why now I try really hard to make sure that doesn’t happen again with my current stuff.

I love how you brought up that many of Excisions best songs are with Space Laces. I literally bring this up to anyone that says they never heard of him but like dubstep.

I find this video format to be a fantastic direction for your channel, especially if its allowing you to make the stuff you enjoy creating! This particular vid really summed up the beauty of appreciating Ian's music and Im very excited to see the stuff you have in store for us next

Digital Gangsta always takes me back. People used to bug Space Laces on his youtube channel to release it for quite some time. After i graduated high school i went to Nocturnal 2013 and Excision actually dropped Digital Gangsta. It was such a surreal moment hearing a much soughtafter song come to life like that. I cant believe this much time has passed.
Thank you for this video!! im stoked to see what else you make!!

Just found this channel and love it. Stick with this new style - i think it fills a hole on youtube like the PunkRockMBA does for rock music. Watched that channel blow up over about only two years.

What a breath of fresh air. Sifted through so many hip hop video essays that I didn't think EDM video essays even existed. Looking forward to more of these videos!

A video (or series) on the evolution of different genres of bass music would be super interesting. Great first video, I can only see good things to come.
