i think it's amazing how these children learn languages so fast just from going out to the streets while trying to earn their bread. when i was in guatemala some time ago, i went to this small town where most of the children selling things on the street could speak german from talking to so many german travelers. it was impressive.
on our drilling project in India we had about a hundred indian workers and many of then after several months working with us spoke fluent russian. some spoke better russian than the guys from caucoses or acian republics. very clever nation.
It may be because slavic languages and indian languages come from the same indo aryan language group. You would notice many similarites, especially between russian and sanskrit.
There are copious amounts of such untapped potential in India, but unfortunately, they've never been, formally schooled. Sadly, not even in the near future

I also visited Arambol in 1993 and this is my first look at it since. Yes, it is very different. I remember there being just a couple of bamboo hut beach restaurants and reggae music. We slept on the beach because there was nowhere to stay. There used to be a big banyan tree with a Saddhu who lived underneath. These videos really inspire me to return to India!
The Banyan tree behind the sweet water lake is controlled by a group of Indian boys (presumably on behalf of the Baba) who are more than happy for visitors to bring them free drugs and foreign girls. It was quite a pathetic occassion to bear witness to. However, I can recommend exploring the plateau and cliffs above from where the paragliders make their jumps.

My mother went on holiday to Goa, she found a street puppy that had been rejected by the local street pack of dogs, it was doomed to die if immediate care was not given as she was in a very bad condition.... 6 Months and £2000 later we now have a genuine Indian Pariah pooch living with us in England, I know there are plenty of dogs in England that need a home but my mum found this puppy and promised she would make sure she was ok, I've never known a more loving and appreciative pooch :)

Although cute, the kid would be depending on it day in day out for a living. Kids that age in my city speak decent English. School and TV, but never actually needing it for communication. At the border of the country, you could add one or two languages to that. And regions were there local dialect is its own language, one more.

My mother went on holiday to Goa, she found a street puppy that had been rejected by the local street pack of dogs, it was doomed to die if immediate care was not given as she was in a very bad condition.... 6 Months and £2000 later we now have a genuine Indian Pariah pooch living with us in England, I know there are plenty of dogs in England that need a home but my mum found this puppy and promised she would make sure she was ok, I've never known a more loving and appreciative pooch :)
