How to Tie the Imitation Slipped Bowline - Is this a Bowline Alternative?

- I love the Imitation Slipped Bowline, this is one of my go to knots. Whenever I need a fixed loop, then I always seem to end up using the Imitation Slipped Bowline. I just love the fact that it is easy to tie and to unite is just one quick tug. I personally prefer this loop knot over the Bowline.
Now that I have said that, the Imitation Slipped Bowline suits my needs as an alternative to the Bowline or any other fixed loop knot. I am sure that there are others that are concerned about the slipped element of the knot. You are the master of your own knots, so you decide what knot suits you and your situation best!
If every you need a fast tie and quick release knot, the the Imitation Slipped Bowline makes a good knot.

Kalmyk loop/knot is much better, I think. Because it's slipped variant Kazak/Eskimos loop - one of bowline family.
After the first pass through the nipping loop, Instead of going under the line, try going up through the main fixed loop. Easier to tie that way. And this is a great alternative to the Kalmyk.
I've use this knot for years and it makes the "easy-break" bowline even easier to break. *Break meaning untie 😉
I love this knot, it is one of my go to knots!!! Some people don't like the fact that it is slipped, but to me that is an advantage!!
There is a knot that I use which is a bit like this but is far as I know no one else as ever tied ,and it's not only a taut line hitch but can be used to moor a boat or set up a hammock or lower one self from a cliff and retrieve your rope and it's made from two half hitches like a clove hitch,if you form in hand two half hitches and pass the second into the first and pull it partly through as if you pull it completely through it would make and overhand knot ,in this way it makes a taut line hitch ,and can also be used to make a bend, when used as otherwise described it's simply a matter of tying your two half hitches over the standing end of your rope.
Thank you for sharing. Your knotting fixture remains a class act. Wish you well.
Cheers for the vote of confidence Dan.
Ese es un muy buen nudo, yo ya lo conocía y es muy práctico. Gracias por compartir sus conocimientos.
¡Sí, uno de mis nudos favoritos también!
Love your show. Wished you tell the strength or add the advantage disadvantage to some of these knots.
I know what you are saying Lucas, just that I had a lot of requests for short fast tutorials. Different style videos will be coming shortly. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
Good instructions , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Good to see you back and leaving another good comment. 😉 😉 😉
Thanks, i am definitely going to commit this one to memory. It should be a lot easier to undo
I love this knot!!! Even though it is slipped, don't let people tut at you, saying you shouldn't use a slipped knot. In my experience they only fail when you are with an idiot. My favourite noose knot is the the Evenk Hitch, another simple knot to tie, also slipped: ruclips.net/video/bF_DZ1uqX7U/видео.html
I really like this knot.
One can make it much stronger if he makes a double loop in the beginning of the knot.
Oooooooooh, I do love an enhancement. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
Is this a decent choice to use for towing? Seems strong yet easy to untie.
Unfortunately, I do not have any data on how this knot behaves under a really heavy load. Whenever I need a good secure loop knot, this is my go to knot. I did actually use it the other day to lift a washing machine up a flight of stairs 😉 😉 😉
Handy knot. Hitch? Thanks for sharing
One of the ones that I use the most!!
thank you. I discovered while I was practicing the Sylvain knot and was happy to believe I found a new knot until I discover it here... Lol. Thank a lot any way. I think it is possible to tie it even more quickly passing the working hand directly over the standing hand and again over in the loop and under the standing hand and then making the loop and inserting the loop in the loop that apears.
Thanks for taking the time to share this information, I always love to hear about knots and cordage being used in action! I will have a play with what you suggested 😉 😉 😉
@Knotting Knots
well... doing the little loop first and throwing the working in it is very fast too.... Yes, surely one of the fastest loop knots if not the fastest .
Great presentation! Clearly and concisely executed.
This is my most used loop knot. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.
Awesome as always 😎
You going to take up knotting? 😉 😉 😉
