I got chills when he said “We’re alive…” then pointed at the herd of walkers in the distance and said “That’s death!” After all the fighting we really forgot who the real enemy is, and we should all work together to rebuild society.
for me that is the The best scene in the series, when Rick teaches them that the walkers are the real enemies and that the remaining humans have to fight them and not themselves.
Season 8: Wow, what a beautiful speech. I hope that it finally sinked in for most of the Saviors and maybe we can all live together in harmony and- Season 9: FUCKING DAMN IT!!! WHY!? You couldn't just cooperate for a few months!? Seriously!?
If he didn’t “die” in season 9 things would’ve been going great for the group. Rick was the only one who had control, the only one who was thinking about the future, but Daryl and Maggie ruined it bro… and he spent the next 6 years in horrible conditions, Rick deserved better. They all did.
Bro this was the PERFECT ending for the series. I know in the comics there was much more after the Negan war such as the Whisperers and the Commonwealth, but AMC divereted a lot from the comics already, plus Andrew Lincoln wanted to leave. They had the perfect out, they could've continued with the spin off shows like Fear the walking dead. This would've been the most satisfying way to end things rather than continue on where Rick was in a few episodes and was "killed off". Lincoln as Rick Grimes is the face of the franchise. He's the glue no different than RDJ as Iron Man in the mcu or Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. You can't have a series without your main lead.
Leaving Negan alive was probably one of the best ideas in the show. Not all villains have to die, Morgan proved that by keeping a murderer alive who eventually betrayed him but then changed his mind at the last minute and saved a girl from a horrifying death. Maybe the show, in its own way denounces the way humans tend to behave with someone who does something wrong. One of THE BEST shows ever made
We are life the meaning of life is life we must work together not fight each other no more wars please no more wars no more mind controlling no more . 😊❤

Rick was extremely broken since lori died, that season was one of Andy's acting peaks on TWD, i'll never stop saying he deserved a fucking emmy, the fact that he hasn't got one yet is simply a crime
When I saw ALL those Walkers in the distance, I was convinced that there had to be a bunch of spots around the country with SEVERAL Walkers together like that🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
had rick killed negan, he would've learned nothing. in the end he honored his son's dying wish which saved judith later on, rick not killing negan is so much more than it is entailed, and although negan will never truly be a 'good guy', he can redeem himself in some ways, i dont forgive him, but he doesnt have to die.
Rick always could see the much bigger picture. After a while, it isn't about survival. It isn't about warring factions. It's about rebuilding. Something new with some parts of what was. This is the world now, and the war should be against the undead. Not as much each other. But push came to shove...they did win.
Thing that bugged me is Daryl and Maggie are responsible for what happened to Rick and no one ever bats an eye no one ever blames them theirs never any conflict or anything. Rick made the right decision and Maggie and Daryl nearly destroyed it all in their pursuit of vengeance
My only wish for this scene is if Carl said this dialogue at the premiere of season 8 and this is the moment Rick realized that Carl was right. Even though it’s a small detail but would have given the scene a deeper meaning

Pretty sure his main message was the world belongs to the living not the dead, but they had to fight…and the CRM pretty much embodies that beyond what Rick even knew was possible lol. If anything they prove his point perfectly.

Realistically, you’re telling me after alllll the loved ones that died due to this war, they all just listened to this one man make his crazy rant? None of them wanted to pull a fast one?
Absolutely, but it’s the ultimate way to lead by example. If Rick can let Negan live, everyone can table everything. It’s harder to say “forget the past and move forward” just after executing a public figure. The best way to actually get the outcome they wanted (a better future without bloodshed) Negan had to be the example of the potential of that future.
