Fun fact: in the final season of Key and Peele, the in between sketches thing that they do, it's a road trip to the middle of the desert. Why? Because in the final episode, they stop in the middle of nowhere, to call their wives bitches. It's a very big omage to their first sketch, which is about hiding from their wives to call them bitches
Huh... Didn't realise how many people hated Key and Peele, I sincerely thought they were universally loved.
Will R ikr
All their jokes are about being black. It gets tiring.
Something to do with Dave Chapelle
@@ioanj86 what about the one about the 80s aerobic competition, the curios alien skit
@@ioanj86 i actually disagree there are a few about that but most are just funny random scenarios
"A joke is just a lie; a lie that has just enough truth in it."

-Shrewster
"A joke is mostly a truth with a hint of absurdity." -My Dumbass
This a sincere opinion of mine: for some reason, I found 90% of K&P far funnier than SNL, I find only 10-15% SNL funny.
That may be because a) SNL is live, and b) they have to get their scripts/props/effects ready within a week. K&P is prerecorded and extensively prepared, so their skits are more polished and "cinematic."
Also, Key and Peele excel at writing and acting while SNL is hit-or-miss depending on the host and season.
@Dante Solaris So does K&P if a little bit more indirectly. I honestly don't know how you managed to make this about politics.
And mad tv was hysterically obsurd. Im glad key & peele went on their own too
@@scoutymcscoutface2957 I don’t even think they compare. I feel lucky if I laugh trying to watch snl. I’m actually genuinely surprised when I don’t laugh at a kp episode
Not to mention their acting is outstanding. So believable
Unbelievable
Great video. I discovered K&P like a year ago and I love it. But there's a thing you didn't adress, it's the awesome cinematographic quality of the sketches.
It plays a lot in how you perceive various elements of the sketch, it helps setting the tone only to subvert your expectations.
Its very strong in the sketch "Family Matters", where they film a short sketch with the same attention to detail as they would film a big budget series/movie.
It's really not your average sketch. Seeing taking their work so seriously only wants me to find out more. They really nail every aspect of life, social commentary, they could picture any genre. Best comedy ever. Or at least top 3 !
You didn't include their famous TSA skit, it's a bunch of terrorists sitting a cave trying to best the TSA while ripping on their ineffectiveness simultaneously.
“The damage is incalculable!”
‘Ah, the all-knowing TSA!’
“You sound like you’ve been living in... well this.”
Possibly my favorite sketch. The three ounce bomb joke is gold :)
0:54 IM YOUR HOST JON RISINGER AND WELCOME TO ON THE SPOT
Do do do doo doo! Just shit on my dick!
I was looking for this comment the whole video
literally same
I knew this comment would be here.
Amazing video as always! You have no idea how helpful it is when you boil down the science behind comedians. I would love to see the science behind other comedians!
Like dave Chappelle? Yeah totally
the real unpredicted joke at the end of the teacher-sketch is that timothy mispronounces "present".
I've only seen the 'I said bitch...' sketch but now I'm going to watch the rest of them. And awesome video as usual.
Jennifer Sepeda what? Yeah..youre in for a treat
Rap Sure I'm watching the farewell address right now and I'm literally crying. 😂 This is great!!
The Family Matters skit is a brilliant one and incredibly underrated imo. Easily one of my favorites, especially if you watched the show Family Matters and understand that it went from a family sitcom into basically Star Trek lol.
Pussy on the Chainwax
"Megan! You forgot your jacket!"
l
Ok, now you guys HAVE to do the Chappelle show. Not many shows, let alone comedy shows tackled the issues it did.
Key & Peele wouldn't have made it on the air if Chappelle Show didn't clear the way for them.
@@anthonyr.589 lol no.
@@FeministCatwoman are you agreeing with me? It seems like you are.
@@anthonyr.589 I disagree
@@FeministCatwoman alright! Well we can agree to disagree.
i think its a shame you didn't mention the acapella group sketch. I think it best embodies the comedy algorithm you came up with.
Most of the best sketches don't follow the structure outlined in the video. The reality reversing endings are (gladly) only sparingly used.
i think the fact that they rely on an algorith proves that key and peele are not funny
@@Michael-ru3su You can break down any joke into a formula to explain why it made you laugh lmao I dare you to find a comedian who can somehow maintain a career without reusing the same formula more than once. Forget career, any decent sketch show goes in with a strategy. Just because you don't notice it, doesn't mean it isn't there.
@@Jack-rk7jc but they dont rely on the same concept for every single act/sketch
@@Michael-ru3su In a single show they do. Key & Peele actually mix it up a lot though. They have plenty of original sketches in each season.
So now you gotta do dave chapelle
CHARLEH MURPHEEEEEEE! What did the hand say to the face? *SLAP!* hahaha FK! Yo! COUCH!
Why cos he's black? .... You make me sick
Yeah! So they can tell us how White people developed his style.
@@silentgolden8507 what? Why do people have to make everything about race
Silent Golden no cuz key and peele replaced chapelles show. There’s a relation between them other than race.
I was pissing myself laughing just with the small clips they showed, and it reminded me how good Key and Peele were.
Key and Peele are amazing topics of discussion. Thank you, Wisecrack.
Well....this is awkward.
blackdragon1578 it seems I have found my doppleganger......there can only be one.....(jk that's actually pretty cool lol what are the odds)
I just stole the coolest edward kenway picture on google XD
blackdragon1578 I've had this as my icon forever
"Explaining comedy is like dissecting a frog. Sure you know how it works and what that thing is but, you usually kill the frog in the process"

Where is A-A-ron?
peacekeeperboy that's one of my favs 😂
PRE sent.
In Principal O'Shag-Hennessy's office.
he's with Balake
I'll do you one better. Who is A-A-Ron?
A key and peele joke formula video. Wisecrack you guys are the masters of giving me what I always wanted before I even know it.
am i the only one who thinks that relying on a formula proves they are not funny people? maybe the formula they came up with works but can you imagine a sketch show where all of the sketches use the same formula? sounds like a one pony show to me.
When their show died, a Piece of me died. Adore these 2 and their brilliant humor
Huh, so Stephen Colbert was a disciple of Del Close... Does that mean we'll get a Wisecrack edition on him ? Because I feel like there's a lot to discuss regarding his comedy style, and the patterns he follow ! Anyway, it's neat to see you guys talk about the theory behind comedy !
It the same pattern that follow any other mainstream comedian, SUCK THE ESTABLISHMENT DICKS, SUCK THE ESTABLISHMENT DICKS, SUCK THE ESTABLISHMENT DICKS.
C'mon man, don't be that guy x)
TheKeyser94 You guys don't get to do that anymore. Trump is now the most powerful individual on the planet. You guys are now the establishment.
rip del close. his widowed wife is a nice lady tho
I more a fan of George Carlin or Jimmy Dore, thank you, and they are still doing it. Do don't known, a study come out that the media have a 70% of Russian coverage, in relation to Trump, even the mainstream comedians is the only think that they cover about, no speak about the corruption in DC, universal healthcare or universal education, how the corporations had brought the politicians or how they slowly are destroying the country and sell it to say corporations, no, no, that would offend the people that pay them, so they keep their mouth shut.
George Fucking Carlin!!!
Anybody remember that very monologue from Peter Joseph's The Zeitgeist Movement?
Kudos,Jared. Until the next one...
1:06 I'm Slovenian and this is the first time I've heard Slavoj Žižek be pronounced correctly by a native english speaker! Thank you so much Wisecrack! 😅
Does anyone else remember when Keegan-Michael Key was the host of Animal Planet's funniest home videos?
Travis Holy shit, I haven’t thought about that in years....

Pleeeeeeease
Tommy P Delanuit You did it!!
He did it lol
One of my all time favorite channels. Keep up the good work guys.
Watching analysis of why a show I don’t find funny is funny to others was quite entertaining surprisingly
please do the philosophy of Moral Orel. its such an underrated show that deserves way more recognition that it currently has
Alfreg Brannigan such a great series.
That was hilarious I'm at work now but you make me want to go binge watch Key & Peele
This is my favorite channel on RUclips!! The podcast is awesome keep it up guys.
i love how in-depth this went! Awesome video :)
What is the On the Spot theme doing in this video?
I laughed my ass off when I realized this
Do do do doo doo! Just shit on my dick!
I was wondering the same thing
Do Mitchell and Webb next
It's too underrated and I don't think any Americans would have seen it.
And that's numberwang!
U Wot M8 that would be great
Late reply, but I LOVE Mitchell and Webb, and Peep Show, and was born and rasied in America.
RUclips showed me a David Mitchell sketch one time at random and now I've seen every episode of Mitchel and Webb, WILTY, Bruiser, and about half of Peep Show.
Thanks for making this video. I love hearing about the science of comedy.
Best episode yet! Really good job wiscrack
DO the philosophy of The Boondocks
It sometimes amazes me that your channel hasn't done a video on George fucking Carlin...
Bump'n'Jump they're slowly building up to the his greatness
Bump'n'Jump he was so amazing
I think all that is to be said about him was allready said so they find it hard to aproach the god level comedian without repeating what others said.
Nah, repetition is not an issue. On the internet there're new users every day, so there's always enough people who haven't even heard of Carlin.
They probably ARE building up to it, or they just haven't thought of it yet.
This ^
Thank you for this video! This is amazing
I was going to write a long comment describing my admiration for all the work put into this channel, but it boils down to: Man, I love this channel.
Them, Dave Chappell, and Bo Burnham are some of my favorite new age comedians
So what I've learned from the comment section is, "Pointing out problems with various aspects of modern society when you're not a white person makes you a racist."
And as an addendum to that lesson that I personally learned on the internet; if you shit-talk Reddit, those same people will go into full-on "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" mode.
aww the simple mind of a young shonen fan, I was with you once mate but the time will come when you grow up and understand that black panther is the best movie of all time .. wait what?
*leans into mic* wrong
Did not see this video coming but I'm glad its here.
Thank you Wisecrack and Jared: my faith and my heart is alive. Really alive! :D
These guys are hilarious
I like how the On The Spot theme was in the back ground
Love Key & Peele and love this breakdown!
all time favorite show, thanks for the video!
Damn we got some salty folks in these comments
Thomas Bixler I know, right? Jesus. Laugh a little.
Yes, I'm surprised. I didn't know so much people hated Key and Peele this much lol.
Welcome to the world of youtube comments... I still feel like an idiot for even reading and replying to these now and then.
i thought key and peele were pretty well received
In the world of Comedy, some people aren't for everyone.
Do a philosophy of Daria (the to show)
Your channel is amazing!
Thanks so much for this. We are working on some animated comedy/drama/ sci-fi and this video provided some fantastic insights.
The cleverest, well written, cinematic comedy sketch show ever.
chappelle
Anyone else here from Chicago?
Ciara Kenny yeah, i took classes at improv olympic too. got to meet charna halpern who gave me the book truth in comedy.
Ciara Kenny south side!
Absolutely Magnificent!!
I miss this show so much, watching this gave me the feels
Jeez looking at the comments below, I cannot imagine the outrage & vitriol that would ensue if Wisecrack did a video on The Boondocks or Donald Glover's "Atlanta".
Maybe they should put a trigger warning next time: "Discusses black people & blackness in a non-negative light"
Yeah the message behind substitute teacher is lost on everyone anyway everyone is just like "HAHA A A RON"
Wisecrack actually missed it, too.
Can’t believe they missed the deep message behind that guy mispronouncing things.
MJ Red Did I say deep message? No, I’m not going to pretend like Key and Peele is some incredibly deep show. I’m just saying that the sketch is commenting on a real life situation that happens to minorities all the time and it goes over people’s heads.
As racist as it sounds ... there are some crazy made up names that honestly hold no cultural value and are a mishmash of two misspelled names for example.... one of my best friends is named kweisi kattah... that name has cultural ties and is easy to say .... something like lashawnda is a made up nonsense name
@@chrisbellville6957
All names are made up nonsense
This was AWESOME!!!!
You broke down my favorite sketch! (Prepared For Terries) My life is complete
Reality and expectations aren't the same thing. People hold plenty of expectations about reality that aren't true. K&P deals with both kind of expectations, both reality and imaginary.
"WOULD U LET ME DATE UR DAUGHTER ?" "OF COURSE!"
Once again proving that racism is okay for _some_ people, namely the idea that someone who isn’t racist is obviously an alien in disguise.
Hit the nail on the head Wisecrack. :)
Thank you, Jared
If you ever do george carlin, you gotta do bill hicks. Starting to be worried about bill hicks being forgotten and over shadowed by george carlin..
Some of these comments are reaaaal salty
Like the one you left because you disapprove of things other people said?🤔
I want to learn more than what i notice, thanks wisecrack :)
Loved it! Have been a fan of comedy for a while and have herd only really the whispering of Del Close. Please do a full episode on him! Even the cuks who didn't like this video would probably enjoy it.
I sometimes feel stupid for not seeing these themes in shows I watch all the time. But then I realize its these guys' jobs to over analyze everything.
unfortunately it is not there job to be funny, because they obviously arent
@@Michael-ru3su Their*
Can you do "The Emogi Movie" what went wrong?
The channel Cuck Philosophy breaks down the emoji movie pretty well. They bring in Adorno and I thing Baudrillard as well to explain it.
so glad these guys are getting the credit that they deserve
Worth noting because i makes us want to learn more about him.
Oh good. There's hope for my cocaine addiction.
where the fuck is part 2 christoper nolan
i dare you to pin this
Really aprecciated the video guys love from Brasil
Yes! So happy about this video being a thing
I already liked the video because Key & Peele's in it
Do something on Slavoj Žižek
An execution
Michael Hand seconded
Yea, I don't think so. Videos are supposed to get views. Who's gonna be checking out someone they don't know with an unpronounceable polish name? You, the 40 people who liked the comment and relatives of Slavoj?
*sniff*
Everything they do is basically on Slavoj Žižek!
I would LOVE more dissections of comedy and what makes things funny.
Keep up the good work *thumbs up*
PLEASE do the philosophy of Bo Burnham !
I done fucked up
Well done!
I missed half the video cause I was laughing so hard at "terries trying to get froggy ". My wife thought I lost my mind.
I have known key and Peele since mad tv.
DO THE COMEDIC PHILOSOPHY OF DAVE CHAPELLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More of these Key and Peele analysis please.
I loved 'Keanu', but I only saw it because "Keanu" had a cat named Keanu voiced by Keanu. And I love cats and Keanu. I'm so glad to discover there is more content in a similar vein from these brilliant comedians!
Drax. Thlem. Sklounst.

It's 5:11am where I'm at right now and now I want to watch some Key and Peele. Thanks Wisecrack. 😏

Great video!

philosophy of bo burnham
philosophy of avatar/legend of korra
philosophy of breaking bad
Key and peele ARE NOT RIPOFFS OD DAVE CHAPELLE
Now I have to go binge watch all the sketches
Explaining that comedy "formula" was very informative! You should consider making a video(s) on specific popular musicians in a similar way!
