I think as well that the idea is that there was a technique to stringing the bow. Since Odysseus is known as Athena's Warrior of the Mind more than his strength, she probably taught him how to use it. Which lines up with the 'buying you time' lines from Penelope, since she's buying Telemachus time to be trained by Athena, probably with the thought that he would return and be able to complete the challenge himself.

In the original Odyssey, Penelope says the thing about the olive tree (wedding bed) to test Odysseus if he really was her husband because Athena helped him by disguising him as a beggar before he entered his palace and killed all the suitors. But in Epic, Odysseus wasn’t the disguised and Penelope knew it was him. But because he was so broken saying he “wasn’t the man she knew and loved” Penelope used the olive tree thing. Lost family members that would've loved this and immediately after losing them listened to epic, it helped me through a lot. Me and my brother don't bond over a lot, we don't share interests but we love epic the musical, every release date for a saga has been exciting for me and him to talk, went through my parents divorce with this and that was hard. Epic has always been here for me, sad to see this parts over, honestly haven't stopped crying since the watch party, but it was worth it. Can't wait for the rest! Thank you Jorge Rivera Herans, for sharing this experience, this journey, your Odyssey.

The references back to the past sagas and monsters are incredible. Chanting ody’s name like the cyclops’s name was chanted, ody aiming for the torches just like Scylla did, etc
I'd LOVE to see a re-listen to all the sagas, it truly listen to the whole thing in one go is a different experience, would recommend - coming from someone who surprisingly didn't cry when I only listen to this saga when it came out teared up when I listened to everything together.. :)
I believe that the weapons room was left opened because Telemachus had just returned from his trip, to see the palace ransacked. Because of that he armed himself and forgot to close the door or left it unlocked on purpose. I don't think Odysseus left it open, but it could fit narratively either way
That's kinda how it goes down in The Odyssey, that it was Telemachus and the two men assisting him who accidentally left it unlocked. I believe this is hinted at when the suitors are attacking Telemachus, Melanthyus or Euryphemus(?) whoever says "He's made a grave mistake, left the weapons room unlocked" But the Odysseus we know who has turned into The Monster would totally be the kind of person to set that as an intentional trap. Would love to see Jorge elaborate on what happens off camera in this act, if it's close to the original story or if he imagines something a bit different.
First song is sung by Penelope backed in some parts by the chants of the suitors. Antinous, aka big bag evil dude, sings hold them down also backed by the suitor chants. Antinous was killed at the end of hold them down, so individual suitors took over during Odysseus, as well as Odysseus and Telemachus. I can’t help but wonder is a duet between Telemachus and Odysseus Will you fall in love with me again is of course a duet between Odysseus and Penelope.
you definitely need to react again with the animatics. the cast of epic had a premiere earlier today to react to the whole musical and the animatics for the Ithaca Saga are rlly good :)
The livestream is out, you should definitely watch it it's so good, Jorge commissioned lots of beautiful animations and animatics. Plus most of the cast is up in Ithaca rn and are on the stream
My favourite change from the original odyssey is that originally, Ody arrives in disguise to deal with the suitors. And he's changed so much physically that even out of disguise Penelope doesn't immediately recognise him. Him telling her the detail about how he carved their bed from the olive tree is what convinces her it's really him but before then she doesn't even believe he's back. In Epic she knows it's him, and instead the discussion around the bed etc. is more about him saying he's a different man and she'll have to fall in love with him again, and her saying he'll always be the man she loves despite what he's been through. It's more of a metaphorical "unrecognisable" - he became the monster but deep down he's the same man as he was when he left, and she still loves him even after he tells her what he has done and been through.
"Then I'll become the monster, I will deal the blow! And I'll become the monster, like none they've ever known!" takes on a whole new meaning at the end of Odysseus
Odysseus and Penelope‘s love for each other is insane. Do you know how much you have to be devoted and love a person to be away from them for 20 years? They were definitely meant to be together.
I think its amazing how all the characters (ir the main ones at least) have defining aspects? For example, you know its Athena when you hear the warrior of the mind motif.
For those confused, Odysseus spent 10 years at war with Troy, 3 years sailing before Eurylochus screwed him over (twice), and 7 years on Calypso's island, before returning home. So, 20 years total.
"What does he mean by that?!"

16:53 " *i see a man who gets to make it home alive... But it's no longer you* "
Been watching since before troy saga, a while before actually. Been through a lot since then.
I freaking ugly cried, not only was the ending so sad (and happy at the same time) but I don't want this amazing thing to end. It's absolutely a wonderful project that Jorge has been working on with his amazing family, cast, and more. I can't wait to see what happens next. 😭💙🦉
The fact we know about Oddysseus pain but thiss is the first time we hear about Penelope's, she knows it's him, and for him to come home and go: Hey, it's okay if you don't want me anymore... I understand it's so heartbreaking.
Ahhh! Yes! Scoot! Wisdom Saga! Finally! I just finished the dang Saga and it was amazing! Got me teary-eyed but it is what it is! Can’t believe you finally reacted to it! Wasn’t ready for it either! 🥹🤩
Oh I was foaming at the mouth for this one 🥹
Still haven't fully realized this is the last one tbh., that's just crazy
Also! Definitely react to/watch the animatics as well, they add so much and bring so much more emotion than there already is. It is absolutely worth it, every time. Guarantee you'll enjoy it!
I find it kinda poetic that the livestream wouldn't work on Xmas eve but the watch party happened on xmas. it came full circle in the most ironic way possible.
MERRY CHRISTMASSS
did you hear Christopher Nolan is adapting the Odyssey (the story this musical is based on) into a movie releasing in 2026??
I heard about that
Funny enough you uploaded this around the time the watch party was getting ready to start, LMAO the timing. Yes please i highly recommend watching the watch party, the animatics and artists they picked out are PEAK. Still recovering.
We absolutely want a relisten!! There is no much more to notice that you miss when you just listen to it once🎉
Im here after seeing the animatics and you have to watch them scoot im crying they were so so good 😭😭😭😭
The animatics will release today (they had technical issues in Ithaca) and yes yes yes please react to them too!
I jst finished the livestream, AUGH I STARTED TEARING UP, went searching for reactions of the Ithaca saga jst 5 minutes after the livestream ended, priorities, idc if its almost 3am
As someone who listened to it first and then saw the animatic, defo watch the livestream. It's a whole other level.
They are going to be doing the live stream soon and you should definitely do another reaction once it's out. The cast are actually in Ithaca right now for the premiere which is cool
Poor Telemachus can't catch a break, he's never done anyone wrong but all these dudes with grudges against his dad want him dead tears 😭
SOB, live just ended. Who else is from there?
ME 😭😭😭
Me, I'm sobbing 😭
you absolutely have to react to the animatic! less than an hour and the live starts ✊
I would love to see you react to the premiere section I just got done watching and oh my goodness the visuals make it so much more memorable, sad, and magical
Bro I just finished watching the livestream they did and you have to have the visuals man. It's good without, but with, ITS ANOTHER FREAKING LEVEL. Much love my dude keep it up.
Just came here right after the premiere.
YOOOOO MERRY CHRISTMASSSS 🎄
The references back to the past sagas and monsters are incredible. Chanting ody’s name like the cyclops’s name was chanted, ody aiming for the torches just like Scylla did, etc
8:56 reading mein kampf and shaking my head the whole time so everyone on the bus knows i disagree
I Love your videos and YES PLEASE do another reaction with the animatics
the animatic for would you fall in love with me is amazing they hug and it spins and it's so beautiful
4:18 the ''waiting'' line had me crying
Amazing reaction ❤️ would love to see u react with the animatics and the whole musical as well ❤️
I'd LOVE to see a re-listen to all the sagas, it truly listen to the whole thing in one go is a different experience, would recommend - coming from someone who surprisingly didn't cry when I only listen to this saga when it came out teared up when I listened to everything together.. :)
17:09 that's because Ody is using the tactics he learned from monsters
My favorite song is actually Odysseus. The last one made me cry
I believe this is hinted at when the suitors are attacking Telemachus, Melanthyus or Euryphemus(?) whoever says "He's made a grave mistake, left the weapons room unlocked"
But the Odysseus we know who has turned into The Monster would totally be the kind of person to set that as an intentional trap. Would love to see Jorge elaborate on what happens off camera in this act, if it's close to the original story or if he imagines something a bit different.
there's a live stream on jorge's channel where there are animatics, you'd have to skip to the end to find the Ithaca saga though
Yes please do another video watching the animatics!
I can’t help but wonder is a duet between Telemachus and Odysseus
Will you fall in love with me again is of course a duet between Odysseus and Penelope.
you definitely need to react again with the animatics. the cast of epic had a premiere earlier today to react to the whole musical and the animatics for the Ithaca Saga are rlly good :)
YES, absolutely react to the animations or even the livestream (the part with the last saga) PLEASE!! :'D
the AOT reference is WILD but valid af, i feel like Levi and Odysseus would get along if they had ever met.
The livestream is out, you should definitely watch it it's so good, Jorge commissioned lots of beautiful animations and animatics. Plus most of the cast is up in Ithaca rn and are on the stream
Plus if you want to rewatch the musical in full with Canon visuals! All on Jorge's RUclips stream
33:00 FR. Hearing Penelope say waiting is such a heartbreaking thing, she probably got that from Odysseus’s mother…
Just a Man in the back freaking got me
Same, started bawling.
"Then I'll become the monster, I will deal the blow! And I'll become the monster, like none they've ever known!" takes on a whole new meaning at the end of Odysseus
The way I can back from the live stream just to see your reaction
Definitely watch it!
This truly has been
EPIC
Did anybody else hear Just a Man on trumpets at the end of Would you love me agian
Odysseus and Penelope‘s love for each other is insane. Do you know how much you have to be devoted and love a person to be away from them for 20 years? They were definitely meant to be together.
I was sobbing the last 2 songs lol Penelope’s voice is so beautiful
I think its amazing how all the characters (ir the main ones at least) have defining aspects? For example, you know its Athena when you hear the warrior of the mind motif.
For those confused, Odysseus spent 10 years at war with Troy, 3 years sailing before Eurylochus screwed him over (twice), and 7 years on Calypso's island, before returning home. So, 20 years total.
