Rob did as good a job if you haven't heard. He did Tim's version and was just as good if not a bit more chilling. Search on youtube and listen if you haven't.
Tim did such an incredible job here that when Rob rejoined the band, they continued to play this version live. Alas, as much as Rob Halford is the O.G, he still comes nowhere close to nailing it like Tim did here. Absolutely perfect.
Tim ripper 0wens, you should have been mentioned at the rock museum when judas priest got inducted. Shame on halford for not saying nothing about you. Tim, you are in the rock hall of fame museum. This song kicks a$$, you are judas priest.
Tim "Ripper" Owens - The singer who should have continued with Judas Priest. Rob halford can`t come close this guy. Judas Priest - Metal meltdown '98, is probably one the best live albums ever made by a heavy metal band.
it's silly comparing Owens with Halford...and to each his own...but just listen to him scream "diamonds and rust" at the end of this song....one of the most piercing, melodious screams ever in metal...and for me this is the best version of Diamonds and Rust by Judas Priests simply because of the way it ends
no one had till fill bigger shoes than tim and to me and did a damn fine job. of course you have people who are halford fanboys that say tim sucks. dont get me wrong i love rob im just say that time was a great replacement
Tim is definitively a more power metal type of voice, the difference between him and Halford is like between Ozzy and other singers that black sabbath had in the 80's that stayed for a album or even a tour. Here he is almost like someone who would be a Helloween singer!
I went to high school auto tech with his older brother Jeff. Met him a couple of times in 74-75. Jeff didn't like his lil brother's heavy metal leanings. I obviously did. And That's the way it was....
I Can't understant people who says Ripper is bad, because they love RoB Halford. to be Honest, Both singers are awesome, and we must be mercyfull of have the chance to hear they.
It's easy to hear why Ripper got the gig in the first place. He really nails it. Even Ripper can't sing like this anymore so it's nice to hear something from his prime years. Awesome.
Leaps and bounds by far the greatest version of this tune, this coming from a huge fan of Rob and Ripper. But there is a reason even current version of priest still does it this way. I just wish Rob would let go like Ripper does, and like wise I wish Ripper would have done the extended lyrics.
Incredible Tim . Mind blowing . The best version of that song . Nailed it in every way . No one can do it to that level . Well done . Even rob would say so
Being from the Cleveland area. I'd moved in 95 to the Akron area to originally attend collage @ Akron. Ended up not going to school but for almost 3 years I'd emersed myself in the metal scene & had the pleasure of hanging with Ripper on more then one occasion. By far probably one of the coolest individuals by far in all of metal. So real & down to earth. To fill the shoes he had to shows the talent of the guy. To then go on & sing for ICED EARTH & MALMSTEEN makes Tim Owens probably one of the best metal vocalists of a generation.
Best version of this song. Not debatable
Bullshit. Unleashed In The East is the best - Rob owns this song.
agreed
Agreed
@@dowens3781 Disagree
@@undericesinger I disagree with your disagreement
Ripper absolutely crushes this one. Fucking amazing.
This guy has a killer voice. Bar none
Ripper does an incredible job on Diamonds and Rust. Everyone here has to admit that
There are opinions and facts, the fact is that the ripper slayed that shit.
Not only did he do a great job for priest he’s also a very down to earth person
Hauntingly beautiful & for me the best version of this song hands down! 😔
Fantastic version. Kuddos to Tim.
Man Halford never sang this song like this A masterpiece Give Tim the respect that he's due
Rob did as good a job if you haven't heard. He did Tim's version and was just as good if not a bit more chilling. Search on youtube and listen if you haven't.
LOL The Unleashed In The East version kills this.
Well said!!
@@dowens3781vocals are pre recorded sorry to say

P.S-I love Rob,but, this is something else
true. fucking. story.
agree 100%
What buahahahahahah ? Are you for real ?
Rob did this the same way. And its better than this. Imo have you heard that one.
No shit. I hope someone will better it, but I seriously doubt it
Its an amazing version of diamonds and rust, but for me the best is the acoustic version with Rob and that one of the epitaph tour🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
3:01 Holy fucking shit that was amazing!!!!
The absolute perfect song for Ripper's voice.
somehow this version is the best of all...
of course its RIPPPPAAA
Agreed
Kesinlikle!
Reality.
Agreed. Im always been back here
I'm blown away by the power of his voice. Tim definitly is a beast
Tim did such an incredible job here that when Rob rejoined the band, they continued to play this version live. Alas, as much as Rob Halford is the O.G, he still comes nowhere close to nailing it like Tim did here. Absolutely perfect.
Rob just stays down low at the end now.
robs voice became much worse in 1991 and from then on it only went downhill
Tim ripper 0wens, you should have been mentioned at the rock museum when judas priest got inducted. Shame on halford for not saying nothing about you. Tim, you are in the rock hall of fame museum. This song kicks a$$, you are judas priest.
My absolute favorite version of this song! Rock it hard in the 4Runner!
🤘🤘Ripper! Ripper! Ripper! 🤘🤘
I’m so proud of Tim in everything he’s done. I’m glad to call him friend. This is one of my favorite priest tracks with him singing, too.
Just an incredible high notes!
Legend
Tim "Ripper" Owens - The singer who should have continued with Judas Priest.

Meltdown is best Priest album ever
I completely agree!!!
Best version ever. Listening to in 2021 !!
Has any singer ever had to step into bigger shoes than this guy?
Adam Lambert? He replaced a legend in Queen.
Narek Avedyan it's a separated project, not the real band.
A matter of opinion, but in my books, not quite as big:)
+Josef Hautala yes but blaze failed very hard at doing so.. Tim just rocked the shit out of judas priest songs
+nimim. Marko Mikkilä Sammy Hagar - Roth
Ripper is not just a Substitute!
*Preferable version. The final part just Wooow!*
_Sorry Helford_😮

Absolutley agreeee he is amazing here
Can’t believe your getting the posted. Priest had them removed, anything with Timmy they blocked. This is really cool. Happy to hear and see him again
The way the vocals build on this version is just brilliant and the end bit. Jesus Christ. Spine tingling. Take a bow Ripper Owens.
best fuckin version ever.
i feel so bad, after reunification with halford this great vocalist is forgotten. so bad. i wish he never joined priest
My favourite version of legendary Judas Priest was with Tim Ripper! What a incredible voice, work! 🤟🔥💯
Agreed.
Que zarpado
Nenhum ser humano, na face da terra, jamis interpretará esta canção como o Ripper! Best ever...
One of the best metal vocals of all time. This track right here would have been huge in the 80's.
no one had till fill bigger shoes than tim and to me and did a damn fine job. of course you have people who are halford fanboys that say tim sucks. dont get me wrong i love rob im just say that time was a great replacement
Both of them are great! Tim is a beast.
nappa sayian They are different, two beasts!
Ripper did a awesome job he had very big shoes to fill
Tim Ripper Owens-SUPER!!!
Amazing vocals ... Best of all Judas era ... Just very professional and heartstoryteller
By far the best👌🏻👌🏻
I've been a fan of Priest for years, and this IS the best version of this song.......to me....
well, in the time Tim was 31 and Rob was 47. And today, Tim is 44 years old... And he's still a badass singer, so as Halford, with 60... Both gods
Tim is definitively a more power metal type of voice, the difference between him and Halford is like between Ozzy and other singers that black sabbath had in the 80's that stayed for a album or even a tour. Here he is almost like someone who would be a Helloween singer!
Awesome, awesome, so fucking awesome!!
unbelievable
damn, this version is so good, what a glorious voice, respect for Ripper !
Never was there a version this great
Finally found it

This is by far the best version of Diamonds of Rust.
No, the Unleashed In The East version is.
Yeah. That's it. That's the one.
It's easy to hear why Ripper got the gig in the first place. He really nails it. Even Ripper can't sing like this anymore so it's nice to hear something from his prime years. Awesome.
It's been 15 years since then... no one keeps the exact same voice after that
my favourite version...no doubt
The greatest performance of the song!
Everytime this song ends, Rob Halford stands up and and applauses
If this woulda been caught on video, that would've been awesome.
With all respect to ROB, this is the best version of this song 🤘
Ok this version gave me goose bumps.
AMAZING.

phenomenal tim
So good i thought it was Rob
When some people say "better than the original" I'm guessing they don't mean the Joan Baez original.
3:18 Wtf !! Miraculous voice !! Unbelievable !! 🤘🏻❤️
