This could have been a sunny day in England showing the best of British cars. In the background, I saw a Rover 75 and either a Ford Lotus or 2000. Didn’t realize that British Columbia had such an interest in British cars. Lovely to watch, thank you from England.

A fine video! The British certainly knew how to style a car in the late '40s through the Sixties. But the Healey 100-4 has always been my favorite. There's not a bad line anywhere. The grille is classic. All the proportions are just right. I got to drive a friend's back in the '50s, and still remember the 'snick' 'snick' sound of the shifts. I guess the need for more power led to the six cylinder, but the car got fat and lost proportion. Still a beauty, but not in the class of the 100. Thanks for the show.

  • @cnaarndt

Nice AH 100! Note, it's NOT a 100-4! As the first in the series, it is a 100 versus the 100-6 which came afterwards and is appropriately named. Thanks for the nod to Geoff at Rightway Heritage Trimming, as he's doing the green interior on my OEW '55 BN1.

I owned a 59 100-6...The 100S model, from 1956, actually had more hp from that 4 cyl, than the first couple years of the 6cyl Healeys! But I loved the sound of that six...on par with an XKE.

Yes, I agree that the Vauxhall should be ( if not already ) best in show. I noticed those famous and long running hood ( bonnet ) scallops. Those scallops kept on being used for many years after that, didn't they? Just beautiful!

Could all most smell the salty air. Damn but I miss the island.
On a very long shot. Are you equanted with Mr. Martin Nickolls? Probably flubbed the spelling on his last name .
Was my physics teacher at Esquimalt High back in 78-79. An avid collector of British sports cars. Had a barn, 2 barns actually, full of them. Makes me wonder how many have moved from the unrestored and parts barn to the restored barn?
Thank you very much for posting. Brought back many memories of all sorts.

In 1968 I had a 1958 Bugeyed Sprite exactly like the one you drove. Same color, same interior color. It was all original, of course, and in very good condition. Before that, an MGA. Into the Army in '69; out on '72. First thing I did was buy a new Fiat 124 Spyder. Had it for eight months. Sold it and bought a new '72 VW Beetle convertible.
From that experience I learned two things: 1) never again a British car and 2) never again an Italian car.

  • @johndavey72

What can l say , an amazing plethora of European motors (substantially British) . I don't think we could match the constant fabulous presentation of so many cars in jolly old England! The Healey's definitely deserved their reward. Your knowledge was virtually faultless, the 420g was a 420, and it was refreshing to hear an "e"type not called an XKE! And l guess no American iron was allowed at this particular event. I would love to attend this show. Dream on! Thank you so much for making this film, don't you just love you tube!!

    • @tww1491

No Sunbeam Tigers which I suppose fits in the category of American Iron -- or Honda S2000 which is Japanese. Both of which I owned over time. The S2000 was the best sports car I ever owned including a 1964 E type and several other British sports cars.

The Sprite quickly became affectionately known as the "frogeye" in the UK and the "bugeye" in the US, because its headlights were prominently mounted on top of the bonnet, inboard of the front wings. You might have had a "frogeye", I had a "bugeye". Cheers.
