Great ideas. I also love a collared shirt over a thin turtleneck. For cold weather, it’s silk under cashmere (or Merino wool) forever! Silk long undies, or usually just the top, t-shirt, piece, are my secret to keeping warm without bulk. Plus, my super-sensitive skin needs the barrier between it and the wool, or even cashmere, fabric. It also keeps my sweaters cleaner for much longer and it’s so much easier and faster to machine-wash (delicate, “hand-wash” cycle) my silk tees and hang them to dry. With a fan on, they dry in about two hours. I have to get my sweaters dry-cleaned because I can’t hand-wash them because of a back problem. Wearing an under-layer greatly reduces the frequency of dry-cleaning needed, saving expense, hassle and chemicals entering the environment. So does taking care while eating and drinking to prevent spots. Cotton also makes a good, less expensive under-layer, but my climate is a mild one and it’s usually too warm for me under sweaters, unless they’re the kind I can remove indoors.

Quite a few of the examples you showed looked very bulky and voluminous, oversize top to bottom, bulky scarves, etc. Being petite, I can only wear one slouchy-fit item at a time.
Graphic t-shirts - I found them hard to wear as I got older but didn't want to declutter them and this is what I came up with: I wear them under a denim shirt or a denim shirt dress, I leave several buttons of the shirt/dress undone so you can see some of the graphics but not the whole t-shirt, and this looks more chic at my age (58 years young). You can do the same with any shirt or shirt dress or cardigan, it's another "less is more" way of looking stylish and a little different but keeping it toned down too

Thanks for sharing your perspective! I totally understand the challenge of bulky layers, especially for petite frames. Love how you’ve styled graphic tees under denim shirts-it’s a great way to show them off without feeling overwhelmed. I would definitely recommend printed tops, but with a tiny print, so it looks less casual. ‘Less is more’ is such a smart approach, and your method of toning down the look while still keeping it stylish is perfect! 🙌 Thank you very much for your tips my dear 🥰❤️

Suede is so chic and cool, I always wear suede instead of leather. I find oversize leather jackets particularly unflattering. Turtle necks hide one of the best parts of a woman's body, a beautiful long neck. I was lucky enough to have a lovely neck when I was younger, why cover it? Even now it's a little wrinkly, I still think a slim long neck is elongating and lovely. I've never liked turtlenecks, they look awkward to me and I'm told they can be itchy too and feel hot when you're indoors, so it's a no from me. If I'm cold I'd rather wear a crew neck or V neck with a scarf, which also adds a bit of pattern and colour to my usually neutral outfits.
I LOVE denim and double denim but I prefer jackets and shirts in a more classic style, there's a lot of boxy oversize versions around with minimal details on the pockets, etc. which I don't like. My vintage denim shirts, jackets and also tote bags will stay with me for ever, the trendy ones will be out of trend soon. When I wear my double denim outfit I sometimes also carry a denim tote, so it's a triple denim!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Suede is definitely a chic alternative to leather, and I love how you embrace it. Totally get the turtleneck dilemma, especially when it gets itchy indoors. Scarves are such a stylish and practical alternative for adding warmth and color! And triple denim? That’s bold, but sounds super fun-vintage denim always has that timeless appeal! 😊 🥰❤️
