Band 7
This candidate can maintain the flow of conversation without noticeable effort, although he has a rather slow delivery, with some hesitation. He uses a range of reference markers fluently and naturally to give cohesion (It's likely that they will; so that helps). Overall, however, his topic development is limited and he does not extend his responses sufficiently to reach Band 8. His vocabulary is appropriate but he does not use an extensive range. Examples of good collocation and idiomatic usage (the job ladder) are not as frequent as they would be at higher bands, and are sometimes not well-integrated or result in awkward expressions (everything in excess is not good; to provide themselves; want to go higher, higher on the job ladder). A range of structures is used, but there is not enough complexity to raise the performance above Band 7. The level of accuracy is high, with only a few minor errors, but the candidate stays within a safety zone and this has an impact on his range of structures. The candidate has only a slight accent that has very little impact on his English pronunciation. He is able to use a wide range of phonological features to convey meaning effectively (it's not that difficult to play) and to make precise distinctions (more popular vs. most popular).
This is a high-level candidate who seems to play safe. In doing so, he fails to produce sufficient language to be awarded a higher band.
I do believe that this examiner is a really nice person to talk to. This is really important for anyone who takes speaking test. He gives you confidence and you can express yourself much better, much easier. I hope I'll get an examiner at least as nice as this man.
it's skeptical to think this guy actually got 7 in speaking !
Maybe he got 7 because he looked quite confident. I like that. My teacher told me a story about a guy who couldn't talk fluently, but got approximetely 6,5-7. He even didn't understand the speech of examiner time to time. He got high point just because he behave himself really confident.
Confidence is not one of the marking criteria.
Jackie Y. Freedom it might not be one of the criteria but when speaking confidently you are more likely to sound as if you are able to produce language effortlessly without having to concentrate thus your speech is more natural
He spoke confidently, because he knew what he told about. He is a real football fan.
His mark was deserved, I think.
Yes, I know it happens. My speaking test examiner, unlucky me, was a rude lady and it was possible to easily notice that it was a bad day for her. Even my IELTS tutor and colleagues saw the reflection of it on my score not agreeing with the score I achieved.
I think it's up to the examiner because in the end it's just a test like any other. I've seen on RUclips that the score depends on the country where the test is taken. It seems that in countries with difficult languages (Asian countries mostly) examiners are less demanding. And let's not forget that for a higher grade at any part of IELTS test you need to prepare yourself, to do lots of tests, watch as many hours of English television programs as you can.
are you sure of the band score? I feel like if i did like him I won't achieve a 5 or 4 even :/ thats why I'm scared and nervous from the ielts, I need to think very fast on a difficult or high level vocabulary so he could give a 6 band or more :/ !!
I think he is good and play safely. The questions are actually hard to answer, who does ever think about why football is popular........
It couldn't be a band 7.
The speaker stumbled a lot, besides that he used present tense only.
how did he get 7?
I just don't believe this!
I can't believe if he got 7, why I did only 6.5? I speak way more fluently with a wider range of vocabularies. Yes He definitely was more confident than I was. If that is the reason, I guess I need to work out to get a better self-esteem.
he may have scored a lot less than 7...you might never know...I do not think it is accurate
who can tell me the criterions were used to assess the speaking english skill???
He is so relaxed!
I had given excellent performance in both speaking & writing module yet British councillors has fully disappointed me in recent result...
Yes. I'll tell you about my second test when I take it. Regards mate!
Is it acceptable to keep our hands on the table while speaking to the examiner....? Doesn't it cost us our points.....!
omg, which city did he take an ielts test? I shall fly to immediately to get :))) I've never seen the candidate with this speaking ability could achieve this band so easily like this. Since the answer was extremely short and direct, even the grammar and pronunciation were right, it could not achieve 6 honestly , of course, in my place. That's how the world is so unfair :))))) And it's ridiculously to say that the examiners in Asian countries are less demanding after seeing this video !
i'm looking for a partener because i have the exam next month. help please
+Lidia Lid HI, I am Sumon from England.
I have a group on whats app where I teach English people around the world for free of cost. If anyone is interested he/she can join in. Thanks
+sumon sikder. Add on this group
Maybe he got a band of 7 due to confidents beacuse he was not shy and not nervous while he was speaking.
I got a 7 and... not being too proud here but I think I'm way better. I think this could be a 6! Or I should have got an 8.
:D Do you know the word "gato", he he ? J4f. I just need 6 in speaking and doing the same thing like him is as good as i wish.
speaking test is the most subjective part on IELTS test, therefore, if he got 7 eventhough many of you think that he was not deserve for that score, it is still acceptable..once again it is very subjective.. this is my own perspective, so no hate..
This gentleman's English sounds a bit like a man from Krakausia, as whom Tom Hanks acted in the film the Terminal.
Let's hope that these kind of events are rare.
Are u sure this is band 7 model ????
Hope I will have a good examiner :)
just need 6.5 but I'm already nervous about the exam
I have, unfortunately, an experience with a teacher who gave me an 8 and my colleague 8.5 for absolutely the same test (don't ask me how and why those tests were identical :D). If is not a test grid the human factor apears.
It's definitely not band 7. I've seen better prepared candidates achieving only 6.
I´m not sure if this man could possibly be a band 7 model, I mean, I´ve watched other videos with people speaking way better than him getting the same score.
I don´t know what the interviewer is looking for in this part of the test, but I´m pretty sure he deserves a lower score.
very nice for ielts studebt .
How come this man took 7? :)
are you kidding me?????? it can't be 7!
+Annette Makhova add me on skype: hoang.hiep58
+Annette Makhova I agree.. Its kindda unfair to me if they gave him 7 . lol
Thats not 7 dude! May b 5.5-6
he irritating me😟😟
how he got 7band😯
I don`t think so, this speach will mark as band 7.
This can`t be a band 7 discuss, he`s not fluent in his speech and he`s only using simple tenses. I got a 6.5 in my Ielts speaking part and I can say that i was way better than this one right here.
oh don't be a cry baby
Ivan Barjaktarov
I`m not, my IELTS overall band score is 7.5, but I was just saying :)
George State I agree with you .. he's like football football football.. end of conversation :D
i wanna to take IELTS Exam and i want to practice speaking more what about speaking to any other one via internet to improve both levels hope any one share it with me :)
7..... believe me its not rite... i got 7.5 last time in speaking ... if he get 7 i must get 8... ah may be age also is a factor. well if it is a rule then it is good, because it is harder to learn other language in elder ages ... :)
I think it looks like band 5 speaking
I can do way better than this years ago would I get band 8 ? XD
I dont even understand what u r trying to say here
Although the candidate can maintain his conversation flow , he fail to add reasonable lexical resources. But , he is generally good in communication skills. Thanks
I was more better than him in the speaking test and I got 5.5
It's unfair.
MORE BETTER, are you sure?
Ooh sorry, I forgot that my native language is English. Everyone makes mistakes and this trivial mistake doesn't mean that I don't deserve a better grade;) MUCH BETTER* I hope that you're satisfied now, bro.
Hashim Jawad haha, i don't care man...you're right, everyone can make some mistake, that's why we are studying...to make mistakes is a way to improve, and instead you compare yourself with others, try to get better! hehe...easy man!
agree with you that the guy in this video can't got brand 7 eilts speaking test, this one is just around from 5.5 for sure
yes i agree. they are so biased :-ss
-pronunciation
-fluency
-cocabulary
-grammar
Absolutely.
That could be a Brand 7. I spoke much better and much fluent than him and I also only got a 7
I can only give 6.0 bands for it.
I fell in sleep listening to those blocks...
After all, we have an idea of how unfair this test is. Not to mention expensive.
Are you sure he got 7??? Come on!!!!!
Repetition and pauses how even it can possible
This person is not good enough to get a band 7
I think i will get 7 inshalallh
My skype
Mohand ouassour
6.5-7.0
I got 7.5 in this part and I spoke way faster than this guy, and properly, of course :-/
Definitely not a 7 quality speaking.
6.0
WTF IS THAT BAND 7 REALLY?? HE WAS NOT FLUENT NOR HE WAS SO CLEAR
HOW CAN HE GET BAND 7 THATS SOO WRONG :( EWW MAN ATLEAST LLOKINF AT HIM I CAN SAY THAT I CAN SCORE THOUSAND TIME MORE GOOD THAN HIM :P
i agree wid u.. he isnt fluent enough
+Shubhi Singh as if you are fluent? So many mistakes in just a sentence
unfair
lol
His english is very good but he does not talk in general thats why he can not find more to talk about ...
I had given excellent performance in both speaking & writing module yet British councillors has fully disappointed me in recent result...
i've found like 4 mistakes in your sentence just by looking at it, man
