Since our IT industry heavily dependent on Americans and European economy,it was heavily affected by 2008 global economic meltdown.If 2008 global economic meltdown hadn't happened, he would have survived.As there are many loopholes in our legal system.

Scam came to light only after Raju himself told to SEBI about manipulation. SEBI didn't even have a clue about this scam earlier

In India money makes everything.... Take example if u take 2Lc loan bank will aqure ur pledging but when u take 2LC crores then bank will wait until u repay (Ambani jio 3Lc crore loan ,,,Vijay malya 12000Crore...this are small example...Nirav modi 36000Crore...satyam 8000crore).

I worked in Satyam. When ethics is compromisedat extreme level , this kind things happens. We need to ask him , is it worth to earn money at this cost. He must have paid heavy price for his mistake. But investor paid heavy price.

Moral of the story, always invest and focus on what you are good at. Never experiment. If you do a small fraud always have a back up plan.
Raju's family was involved in Real estate much before the Satyam group was formed. They are known as a very benevolent family that invested in a lot of charities in their native district. Some of their schemes like the free ambulance service were taken up by the State and is still benefitting the people of both Telugu states. Satyam was a well-run company until a greedy congress govt lead by the father of the current CM came over and lured them into hyped-up real estate ventures. They were given access to the metro plan and asked to gulp up the properties surrounding the proposed metro route and channel the money to finance the politicians as the company would be awarded the project to construct the Metro. In fact, the metro project was awarded to them (Maytas) but in the process, the group got greedy and started inflating Satyam books for better stock prices to make the profits officially. If they were not a well-run company, they wouldn't have dared to list the ADR in the NYSE market to face strict audit/regulations. Of course, SEBI shouldn't have left the professional auditors so easily for not raising the red flags. Finally, he admitted to the scam on his own without delaying the case for decades by splashing money on the expensive lawyers. You also have to see the consequences - how the company was awarded to the new management that was virtually a failure in the software industry at that time.

He did all the tricks which many Businessmen do in their small businesses especially Politician connected ones. He just did it in a listed company.
I guess its common in many companies. Only thing is one in few hundreds caught . When his company is about to takeover by IBM, and when board canceled his company maytas to merge in satyam, he has two choices one to run out of county or to surrender. He acted to his conscious.
There are few things I want to ask.
1st. I know a company can manipulate its quater results. But how can it shows this kind of profit for that much long time. It's was not a penny stock it was a part of nifty and sensex. We have many ca's investors, researchers, sebi how can they take these things normally.
2nd. What about the tax the company has paid by showing that much fake profit. Because in reality their was no profit but if you are showing the profit then you have to pay the tax. So from where the money comes??
It was being audited by PWC one of the big 5 at that time so no one could raise any question on the authenticity of those financial statements
at the time AP govt chief minister and govt officer's are involved in scam .UPA govt seaport there escaped from this scam . Govt give port contract to mytas company at the time after cancelled the contract....

How to know promoters selling stocks !?
You can check BSE and NSE website or company annual report..There is shareholding pattern, where who owns how many stocks is listed. Generally good stocks company has more than 30%-50% promoters shareholding...it means promoters have belief in their company's growth and hence they are the one who will reap maximum benefit.
If they are selling their shares that means they have no more faith in their company's growth, so they want to sell and exit.
