In a 7 game series, my money would have been on BC. Schneider would have outplayed Lerg in a series but its one game winner take all and Lergwas great.
Come on. It was an evenly matched game both teams had their moments, neither team "controlled" the game. If anything State had control since the game was played our way-defensive. And don't be such a poor sport both teams deserved to be there and State finished on top.

Jeff Lerg was actually my girlfriends roomate's boyfriend. We drank many a night together. Couldn't meet a more humble and awesome person. I hope he gets to play for the Devils one of these days.
Yeah because winning in Ann Arbor is more important that National Titles. Ok Michigan fan, I can see how not winning championships in anything for a while can cloud your thinking process.

My sons linemate in a public Massachusetts HS, played with Kennedy in the USHL. Thus game was considered an upset as BC was considered to have an advantage in net with Schneider. State of Michigan produced some really good players in that era. Kesler (Livonia), Hunwick (Sterling Hts), Wisniewski (Canton) won Gold on US Jr Team in '04 and Hensick, Potter and Hub sick beat Russia with Ovi\Malkin\Radulov Emelin and Khodobin in Rd of '05 WJC. I'm from Massachusetts but Michigan produces great hockey. Hellebuyck (Commerce), Werenski(Grosse Pointe), Larkin (Waterford), and Connor (Shelby Township) will be on '26 Olympic Team.

Go state, I remember that game and how the 3 stars of the game came to my school's carnival (Bennett Woods Elementary) in okemos Michigan a suburb of Lansing, also the players who came were very nice and let me get autographs and a picture of them and let me hold the trophy or at least touch it.
I still have scars from listening to this game on the radio. Those old school sharp textured ceilings and straight up fist pump jump.. Not a good combo lmao. But I don't regret a single drop that was spilled 😂
I remember rushing home from work and catching the 3rd period of this game. 3 kids from the neighborhood won it, Kennedy, Ratchuk and Mueller (around the block in West Seneca)
I love how that BC player breaks his stick over the post after that last goal. I'm a diehard Michigan fan, and I hate OSU and MSU will all my heart. However that is pretty awesome how they won it in the last 30 seconds like that.

heartbreaking loss for BC, they got it back this year though. these are 2 of my favorite NCAA hockey programs.

This was the best hockey team in 2007. My cousin played for MSU when this happened. It was beast.
