Great reaction. Sabaton themselves have said that "Why make up new stories to sing about when our history have so many to choose from?". So that's what they do. They tell stories that otherwise may be forgotten. You learn, and when you know the story, the amazing music is still there to enjoy. And they often toss in an epic music video on top of it all. 🤘😎🤘
This is a great point. My wife is teacher and I had her listen to the beginning of Christmas Truce after the reaction released and her exact comment was, wow that is brilliant, so much can be done with music!
Sabaton is so good at telling stories with the music. I had never known of this story until I heard this song. Even though today we are at odds with Russia, these women were so incredible and so brave.

Night Witches were so hard to shoot down in an air-to-air engagement and caused so much grief to the German ground forces that pilots that managed to shoot one down were automatically awarded the Iron Cross. Only the soldiers of the Third Reich called them Night Witches; Soviet soldiers affectionately called them "The Little Swallows". A rather stupid historical reference, but there has never been an Inquisition or other state persecution of witches in Russia. For witchcraft, they could only be fined (lynching does not count). Sabaton - The Attack of the Dead Men is good too.
Nice reaction, i always cry at the end in the part of the commander searching for the girls, not only you 😁. Waiting for the next sabaton reaction, you have a lot of songs (great amount of songs to react from them). Uprising, Resist and Bite, Light in the Black, Aces in exile, etc, etc 😁
It's kinda sad that she even had to do that. The way Russia treats missing military, is to assume they have defected and are a traitor - unless _proven_ otherwise, with a body or crash site evidence. So she had to find all her missing girls, to clear their names and prove they died as heroes to their country, _not_ as traitors. And fortunately she succeeded. According to the information I could find, she found the very last crash site of the last girl still missing a few months before she passed away.
Their commander went to find every one of her girls because they were labeled traitors and defectors, since they never returned. I remember an interview with a surviving Night Witch. She said if you dug your finger into the plane, it would rip. They were that flimsy. She was proud of the title Night Witch. She also spoke fondly of a girl who survived seven flights out. Queens. Every single one of them.
The drive to fly a mission in a plane like that is unfathomable to me. Obviouy we are in a different time and those choices are not in front of us like that but even then what they endured from the rest of the military and pretty much saying, hold our beer watch this!
I recommend Sabaton's animated story videos when possible with exception of Christmas Truce only because the official video is far more emotional and should be watched before the animated story version.
Rodina in most slavic languages means family in russian it also has meaning of motherland (or along those lines) gives extra meaning to line "Rodina awaits". Hero of USSR is medal that is comparable to US medals in range from Bronze Star to Medal of Honor.

To add onto about their commander tracking down their resting places. Russia consider all soldier who went missing or became POWs were considered traitors so she cleared all those womens names and allowed them to have proper honors
