It can be argued that 4 is the one that deserves the remake treatment the most. SH1 and SH3 though old, they are perfect games. While SH4 has a great potential to improve the original and make it an all time masterpiece

But the first is special, even today with the dated graphics and gameplay I love it, the atmosphere is unique even compared to SH2 or even SH3 (my second favorite), at least for me. Saludos.

I think the smartest remake would be Silent Hill 1 which really needs a good update. BUT, i would love a good scary remake of 4. That one had so much potential, but i didnt like the gameplay.

Honestly, the two best choices are The Room and Downpour. The Room could benefit more from a remake than almost any pther title. Its story is fantastic and bloober could benefit the lack of knowledge people have as well as more creative liberties to be taken (opposed to 2 which people put under a microscope) Meanwhile Downpour is aesthetically somewhat similar what they did with SH2R. Not only that, but narrative wise it takes cues from 2 and seems like the kind of story bloober would excel at telling.
Best SH games in order: SH2 > SH1 > SH4 > SH3 Scariest SH games in order: SH3 > SH2 = SH1 > SH4 I also think SH Origins and SH Shattered Memories deserve an honorable mention. With all that being said, they are all terrifying in their own unique way.
Silent Hill 1 Remake! They would have wiggle room to make the narrative so much stronger with modern voice acting! They did a great job with 2 and if they keep the endings and stories similar, just fill out the narrative, it would work great for SIlent Hill 1. I would love to play as Harry and run those streets, run into the dog in the alley again, then get stabbed to death by tiny men wondering "What was I supposed to do?" with all of that gore and insanity. It would be AMAZING! Silent Hill 1 is definitely the best one in terms of horror factor. I still remember those sirens going off TO THIS DAY!
Definitely Silent Hill 1, but with some new additions like Cybil as a playable character in where we explore the Town and Nowhere from Cybil’s point of view. And maybe some explanations to a lot of story moments like, how did Michael enter into Nowhere, why did he let Harry fight Samael all by himself, how did Cybil get another gun and how did she get into Nowhere. Silent Hill 3 and 4 will probably take a long time to remake.
It should be 4 as it has a tie in with 2. The Room was made to be hard to play. Because it tried to introduce a sense of claustrophobia and dreamlike terror through actual gameplay. It was a bold move, and a lot of people didn't like it. (I didn't at the time.) But it's bold ideas like that that made it special. It's more tied to the second one than the others. One and three are connected, so I think we should make the 1st one after The Room and then Silent Hill 3. I played them all growing up and I think that order would make the most sense. Kind of telling the story backwards.
4 would be really interesting. I'm a grown-ass man, but the ROOM scares me until now as I played it as a child... I remember the first minute, that scream and broken TV.. In that moment I just realized the game was not a good idea :D
I think if they remake 1, they gotta bring Ito 100% on board to redesign the monsters. 1’s only issue in my eyes is that the series didn’t quite have two feet on its identity yet and the monsters don’t represent Harry or Alessa’s internal struggles and overall just feel like regular generic monsters (and out of place ones in the series at that). If they brought Ito in to design brand new monsters for it, it could be better than the original.
0:47 being someone who’s never played the original, and is experiencing the game for the first time, this cutscene hit really hard. Absolutely masterful storytelling.

3 has a pc port. It works nicely(without mods) but there are some audio and resolution issues. Can be fixed by mods. You should give it a try. Although 2 also has a pc port but it would require a hell lotta mods to make it good.

Saw a couple of videos about Silent Hill1 , althought I never played it because of personal reasons ok whatever I'd say the best choice to remake the next silent hill would be SH4, just because the mood is distinguible between the first one and the second series, plus SH2 has some connection with SH4 and it'd be a great challenge to recreate the story and upgrade the original version like boosting it up. I declare fan of both SH (2 and 4) in despite the last one had a bad reception from their fans I think it's the best choice in my humble opinion.
Silent hill 2 was such a classic that a remake made sense and 1 was just before games started looking like modern games so a remake would be cool. (2 onwards are still perfectly playable these days). But remaking everything would be such a sad fate for the series. Give us something new which is actually good god damn it!
Definitely SH1 first. They should take their time, of course, but it would probably still be easier now that they’ve developed things like combat/UX, plus made parts of the town that would be revisited to some degree. :)

That's not true. All of the monsters in SH1 are creatures born from Alessa's mind and traumas, like the grey children or those humping fuckers.

@@pratyushxis1787 the only reasonable way to get the old pc version is through an abandonware site, otherwise it's even more expensive than the console version. I just want a real modern port to modern hardware.

There’s too many references to 4 in this remake and SH4 ramps up the horror more than 1 & 3 ever did. My hope is silent hill 4 thats much much scarier is the next title, not to mention the connection between 2 & 4. IYKYK

Why didn't they start from part 1 anyways? It doesn't make sense. I guess they are copying the resident evil remake formula? But silent hill 1 was huge...I still remember playing it on PSX. Resident evil 1 was overlooked by a lot of people, so no one cares

1 and 4 should be next. Sh1 remake has the potential to be the best overall Silent Hill experience and 4's execution betrayed it's conceptual brilliance. 3 is good and all, but in some ways it resembles the expected sequels other horror brands offer. It's actually the odd man out for being the only one to not shake up the formula.
Silent Hill 1 for sure! I never got the chance to play one so it'd be cool. I started on 2 then played 4.

Saw a couple of videos about Silent Hill1 , althought I never played it because of personal reasons ok whatever I'd say the best choice to remake the next silent hill would be SH4, just because the mood is distinguible between the first one and the second series, plus SH2 has some connection with SH4 and it'd be a great challenge to recreate the story and upgrade the original version like boosting it up. I declare fan of both SH (2 and 4) in despite the last one had a bad reception from their fans I think it's the best choice in my humble opinion.
They really need to remake the first game before SH3. They are both directly connected,you need 1 before 3.
Silent hill 2 was such a classic that a remake made sense and 1 was just before games started looking like modern games so a remake would be cool. (2 onwards are still perfectly playable these days). But remaking everything would be such a sad fate for the series. Give us something new which is actually good god damn it!
Definitely SH1 first. They should take their time, of course, but it would probably still be easier now that they’ve developed things like combat/UX, plus made parts of the town that would be revisited to some degree. :)
