I had to laugh about the plant thing!!! I so get it! I blame my Momma on my lack of a green thumb as my Daddy always said she could kill a rock garden!!! Ivy does do well though, oh and aloe vera!! LOL Love the card idea as I do need some neutral sort of cards in my stash!

Love the suggestion of plants for acquaintance cards! My mom has a green thumb, and she taught me a few tips. When repotting, don't go more than 1 in bigger around. She always put a few rocks in the bottom of the pot so the water would drain. As far as the plant growing toward the light, she would rotate the plants when she watered them so they didn't grow just one direction. And...she tells me I'm always overwatering. She would stick her finger down in the soil an inch or two and see if it really needed water. (Apparently my "just water every week" system wasn't good. LOL) I've had much more success since I've tried her system. LOL I hope something in this helps.

It was very sweet of you to make this card for him, especially as busy as you are! Love this card so much! I had just gotten a plant stamp & die set before this one came out. If I'd seen this one first, I'd have gotten it instead. I love this one!! Especially the I'm rooting for you sentiment. I'm a plant murderer of some renown, I killed an air fern, & I didn't know that was even possible. lol I bring silk flowers in & inside of a week they start looking wilty lol. Mostly I've only tried veggies though & a fig tree. I still want to try some herbs. I would try a monstera because I love them, but they're tropical, & I'm in the middle of Texas. We do get 100% humidity, but not for as long as when I lived in Galveston.

Hi, Kelly. I was reminded of when I was on the midnight shift with rotating days off when my kids were little…My time was so precious that I had let some things go, and now I remember that all my indoor plants died…We had a huge rubber plant and a monstera, both died…It was a hard time for us with my husband on swing shift and me on graveyard shift…both of us with rotating days off(not the same rotation..). We made it work, but it was hard. I didn’t start any hobby/crafting until years later when I was able to get on the dayshift crew. Phew! Glad those days are over! Now I’m retired and can enjoy my crafting time. You’re one of my favorite RUclips channels. Thanks for inspiring us all!

Like Mechele said the one with the lily is a peace lily. They are actually pretty easy to keep alive. They will practically lay down their leaves when they r thirsty (if u don’t water them enough). U think uh oh, I killed it…but no, a couple hours after watering, the leaves will stand right back up! I can’t believe it’s already been 3 months! I hope you find a rhythm with being back at work and all the other life responsibilities. Pretty card btw! I might be able to keep those plants alive (ones that have been colored with Copics)! Thank you!

Lovely card and so thoughtful! I recently learned of a coworker who has brain cancer and will be making her a card soon. I don't really know her well, either, but want to send positivity and prayers to her. On the topic of gray markers... so I have all off the Altenew artist markers and I'm very happy with them but... they only have the warm and toner grays and I have really wanted some cool grays! I hope they will come out with them soon or else I will have to go with Copics lol.

Hi Kelly, Really nice card! I need to get into my alcohol markers more. You are so good with them and they scare me. I don't like to use glue or spray on my stencils as it doesn't seem to clean off well. I like to put the stencil where I want it, carefully turn it over and tape my paper to the stencil from the back. Doesn't interrupt the inking and doesn't leave the glue residue on the stencil. I had a horrible experience one time after using a spray. Worked great on the first card, but I wanted to heat emboss the 2nd one (stars) and the residue left also picked up the powder. I had washed the stencil after the first card, but it didn't all come off.

Pretty card Kelly, I hope he enjoys it. Cancer's difficult for the person going through it and their loved ones, I know from experience. I watched my mom decline very fast once she was diagnosed with breast cancer ( long story short, it was a secondary lung cancer that my mom succumbed to , it'll be six years in April. My dad also passed from lung cancer 2 /1/2 weeks from my 13th birthday in '95 ) . My mom had plants too and sometimes if she'd see yellow leaves on a plant at her bank, she'd pull them off. The striped pot you popped up on down tape reminded me of a silk plant my mom had in our living room for several years , the plant's pot was white and the leaves were somewhere between a mint and a seafoam pastel green.

I really like this card and the coloring. I can empathize with you regarding the plants. I love bonsai trees. I had a couple of them that were each over 150 years old. They were dead in six months under my care. Broke my heart. Now I have a huge one which is artificial and it’s still around. 😆😆. Stay warm and hopefully tonight will be a little easier for you at work.

    Lovely card.
Beware Monsteras: they’re called monsters for a reason. I had one that grew to over 6 feet tall and was quite broad, taking up so much space that when I moved I left it behind. I didn’t do anything fancy with it, just watered it. I’m not even sure I fed it, it was so long ago.
My brand new seeing eye dog is a lab retriever cross. Like a retriever, she’s OPINIONATED. Like this morning, she didn’t want to go on the wet grass to toilet. She did because she NEEDED to go but after she stood on the path. I told her to sit (so I could pick it up) so SHE CROUCHED. She absolutely refused to sit because SHE DIDN’T WANT HER DAINTY LITTLE TUSHIE TO GET WET.
I mention that because I am not a person who says “tushie” but madam is so dainty in some ways that only “tushie” fits and I totally got that from you!

Beautiful card. Listen to you talk about the plant situation makes me think of my mom. We got a a get well plant when my dad had bypass surgery. My mom was also a plant killer. But she kept that plant alive for like two years. We joked that she was afraid to let it die. Also I can’t keep plants alive either.

Kelly, I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud watching this video. Listening to your descriptions of the state of each plant 🪴 currently in your care, was too funny!!! I also do not have a green thumb. I actually even managed to kill a cactus. Seriously, a CACTUS!! I mean, they live in the desert with little to no water for years and years and yet, a few months with me and it was dead. Personally I think it must have committed suicide after speaking with some of the other nearly dead plants in my house. I guess it figured that was the better option. I think I better stick with fake plants from now on. Best of luck with your survivors!
