I really appreciate the comment 😃 and I’m glad the video was helpful!
Dude, seriously.
😁
U made this video a few years, but it’s still applicable. Love it when handles align perfectly, ta muchly 😊
WOOOOWHOOOO!!!…
Finally, a clear, cut and dry method that not only works like a charm. But works with drawers of different sizes!!!!
I can’t tell you how long I’ve been putting this off; as I’ve not been able to find a single video on this…that I could understand anyway.
Thank you from the depths of my soul!!…
As you’ve given me the knowledge to FINALLY see my project through, after being at a complete standstill for MONTHS!!! This is going to be a total game changer for future pieces too!
Thanks again…I’m 100% subscribing to this channel.
Edit: It didn’t work. 😭 I’m off by about a 1/4 of an inch every time.
The drawer faces are both concave and convex…I’m wondering if that’s why I’m having such a tough time?
I'm sorry to hear that...😔
Being concave/convex could definitely tweak it just enough to be off by a little bit but honestly without trying it myself I'm not quite sure..
are the holes in the drawer pulls centered in the pulls? and do the pulls seem symmetrical?
Huge help to make an annoying process easy! Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Wow. That's a handy tip! Definitely saving this for the book.
I’m glad you found it helpful! 😁
Ya know 58 years later.....you can always learn something!! Thanks!!!
wow - i know i should probably have known this (school days geometry) BUT this was really well described and can see it works for any size (symmetrical) handles and any size drawer fronts. Brilliant just saved me some hassle with some IKEA drawers (they dont pre-drill holes)
Thank you I really appreciate it! Glad it was helpful. Yea it should work for symmetrical drawer handles of any size!
Wow what a clever idea💡thanks for sharing. It is all about geometric, that's why I love carpentry. I love your videos, straight to the point and very clear -- such a gem!
Wish I could say I came up with this solution but I can't lol still a method I use every time I install handles!
I really appreciate the complement - thanks!
This is the best and easiest video I’ve seen!!! THANK YOU!!! I was about to take a nap but now I must install my drawer pulls 😂💃🏾
Thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful and easy to follow 😃 good luck with the drawer pulls!
Extremely solid and beneficial method. I was able to utilize this method to finish the hardware installation in our home kitchen remodel. No jig required. Thank you.
Excellent, glad it helped!
Brilliant! I knew how to find the center of a board but it never occurred to me to use this procedure to install drawer pull! Thank you.
Glad I could help!
Oh my goodness, you just made this look so perfect and much easier than any other video I've seen. Thank you 😊
Great, I’m glad it was helpful! 😃
Wow!! This tip is amazing! I've been putting off finishing my project for fear my pulls would be wonky, but not after seeing this. Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful! 😁
Me too but I have to do 2 handles
@@aileenhurley7016 For two handles just mark a line in the middle of the width of the drawer and treat them as two separate drawers with the middle line being the left edge of one and the right edge of the other.
@@tjdavisbz thanks so much I will let know how it goes
Absolutely helpful! Thank you! Makes perfect sense and no tape measure required!
Awesome! I’m glad to hear that 😃 yes - no measuring involved!
Awesome video - stumbled upon it after struggling with plastic templates that just wouldn't line up. Now I can move forward - thank you!!!
Great to hear! thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this video. Extremely helpful.
Worked great!!!! My pulls were not symmetrical, so this was super helpful as a starting point. Thanks.
Glad it helped!

where were you yesterday when i fought and fought to install 8 of these handles . lol. thanks so much.
😂😂 not a problem!
My hero
thanks!
I’m so glad I found you by a happy accident!
There’s so many vids you have that I need!👍👍👍
thank you
You're welcome!
Your explanation at 4:30 was awesome. I'm typically a construction troll, but this was a pretty solid video. Thanks for posting. ;)
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
My boss doesn't like jigs so this video made my day thanks man!
Awesome! Glad to help!
This worked beautifully! Thank you. Now do you have any tips for installing knobs on new cabinets?
I'm glad it was helpful! 😃
For the knobs - if you just want them centered on the drawer face, connect the opposite corners to find the center and install them. Is that what you're asking?
Others show how this is done, you explain how it works. THANKS
I’m glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
So logically simple. No ruler required, no counting and dividing - just draw with a straight edge and mark. Great! Thank You!!!
Unfortunately for the handles I'm now installing this technique doesn't entirely work.
I wish I could say I came up with this method but I can't lol. Im glad you enjoyed it - too bad it doesn't work for your handles but maybe it will for different handles in the future!
🥳🥳 1000th Like! 🥳🥳
sweet! thanks!
This is great! I don't know what I'm doing wrong but for four straight drawers my holes need to go just to the outside of the center of the x to line up with the pull. But it's still working. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
hmmm... my only thought is that maybe the holes in the handle aren't quite centered on the stems on the handle (if that makes sense). If the holes are centered on the stems of the handle, it should work out pretty well. Let me know if you figure out what's causing this, I'd be interested to know!
Tried adding 1 handle on on a slim spoon drawer like the last one you showed at the end, but the cross lines come out exactly the size of the handle 6 3/4 . Trying to figure where I went wrong? Maybe when I decided to put 1 handle on a 34in wide drawer
This is SO helpful. Thank you! I have one question: Is it easier to drill the pilot holes with the drawer face on the dresser or detached from the dresser?
Awesome, glad to hear that!
Well in my case, I have the drawer face and the second drawer face (the front of the drawer) to drill through so it’s probably easiest to drill the holes with the drawer face attached. Does that make sense?
@@DoingWhatever that definitely makes sense. Thanks again!
Hi, this looks really helpful, but I have long handles that are around 17 inches long, would this method work for those as well?
Yes, it will. I had to draw it out to make sure but I don't see why it wouldn't work lol. Check out the diagram I have on my website for this project (link in description) and make sure to connect the lines like I have shown. Let me know how it turns out!
Amazing Tip 😊 how about installing handles on kitchen cabinets, thanks
Glad you found it helpful!
Hello, any tips for me to install handle pulls to a wooden serving tray? Don't want to drill thru the edge where pull will be.
I’m not sure I understand your question…
Wouldn’t you drill through the tray and countersink the screw head on the bottom of the tray?
Would this same method work on drawers that don’t have sharp corners/edges, but a slight rounded edge to it? Like, could I still get those marks using my drawer pulls like you did in the beginning of the video?
I would measure in from all 4 edges like an inch and then basically draw a new box on the face of the drawer. then use that as your “drawer face”. know what I mean?
Omg this is great but how would I install vertical handles for kitchen cabinets?
Like in the top of bottom corners? Honestly I usually just measure those out and they end up working well. Not really a trick to those that I’m aware of unfortunately lol. Or there are some jigs out there that you could buy to help align things. Thanks for watching!
This is great, but would it work for a IKEA handle? What would I need to adapt?
KALLRÖR Handle, stainless steel, 8 3/8" - IKEA
Shouldn't need to change anything. Go by the hole spacing just like I showed in the video and you should get the same results. The "handle" part of the handle extending past the studs where the screws screw into doesn't change this method. Does that make sense?
Jeez! I wish my custom cab guy was as good as you!
I have frameless slab drawers and doors. Unfortunately he couldn’t get the fronts to fully cover the boxes!😬
They are brad point bits. and it will cut through cleanly without tearing finish
I’ll give them a try next time, thanks!
Thank you! I was getting so frustrated.
Glad to help!
SUGGESTION: I would really like to have a video on where to place handles. (On slab full overlay doors and drawers in my case)
Plus I have 2 doors that are glass with apx frame around each door. That may change the whole placement of the other door handles…?
The 2 vids says nothing thing about the height from bottom edge of door.
They do talk about the placement on the vertical to each handle but none talk about the height from the edge on doors or drawers. They talk about putting the 2nd and 3 rd drawers a little higher….some say .25” & .50” others say 1/8” to 1/4” respectively but nothing else on the door handles height. Again, they do talk about putting the door handles from 1.25” to 1.5” off edge so they’re closer together but nothing on the height when placing on a slab door, just shaker style placement.
The best and easiest way u can measure its to measure the lenght and the high of the drawer divided by two and the distance between the two handles holes then u must substract the lenght minus the distance between the handle holes divided by two and thats it if that makes sense
Right but that involves math and potential errors because of math. This way doesn’t need any math and is based on connecting dots with lines and is pretty hard to mess up lol. But I understand what you’re saying 👍🏻
My drawers have tapered edges where do i start
Is it like a 45 degree chamfer on the edge?
🤯
😁
Can you reuse the tape?
Yea if it’s still got some stick to it! 😁
Was all ready to install my drawer handles using your guidance but noticed that the screws on each end of my handle are not in the center. the right hand portion of the handle the screw is towards the left of a rectangular compartment and the left hand portion of the handle is towards the right of a rectangular compartment. I can send a photo if you could tell me your email address. Thanks Walter Rubin
Yea that would make things a bit more complicated...
In that case you would have to line up the center of the screw hole on the corner of the drawer face and then mark the center of the screw hole on the other side of the handle. Not as easy as hooking the handle on the side of the drawer face, but still very doable. Hope that helps!
