Some Of the Revell/ Monogram 39 Chevy Kits Had the Swan Wing ornament in Them And Yes the Grille Surround on this 41 Plymouth is A Finicky Pain. I Came up With 4 Step Process to Make it Better I used Running Board Pieces To Fill the Quarter Windows and Cut Top Off To Make A Carson Removable Top

I came very close to cutting the top of of it. Actually, I’m still thinking about how cool it would be with a top.

Sand it off the hood. Then glue some half round stryine to replace the chrome.

That’s what I have done. I tried to find some half round that small but wasn’t able to find any, I did find some round rod.so made a jig, and sanded off 1/2 of it, and glued that into place. I do think it’s still a little too large so I’m going to sand it down a little more.

My feelings is that you made your body lines to sharp. Now if you continue with the hood you'll have to roll the edge the bottom edge of the hood and then add your stfip just above that. If you do that I would alone extend it along that edge 3/4 the length of the hood.. i opened both doors and trunk and plan to do a mild late model dirt modified with body damage over the years as though its been repaired poorly over the years thus giving the body line less attention to detail.

I also feel like the pieces l added are a little too large so I’m thinking about sanding/shaping them a little more. Thanks

I'm gonna buy you another one just so you have to chop the top 😂

What's wrong with the hood piece that came with the kit it's on the chrome tree I just built this kit and I have one

The hoods fine, really. It’s just that the vision I had the trim along the side of the hood that travels most of the length of body on my kit was almost nonexistent. It was there, it was going to be impossible for my shaky hands to BMF. So I sanded the off existing molded in trim On both sides and added a half round down both sides of the hood and down to the bottom of the nose panel.

Could you soak the hood in hot water and then manipulate it ( would that buy you anything??? )

I’ve tried the hot water thing before without any real results. The inside of the hood would need to be thicker so that I could sand it smooth and then carve the body lines in to the hood so it would match the body lines. I’m not going to go that far. I think I’ll just go with what it is now and hope it looks fine; I really think it will.

It's Weird The Hoods on Sone if these Kits Fit Great I've Had 5 41 Plymouth kits Guess I got lucky All mine Fit Great. But Sometimes the Hoods Get Removed From molds While they're Hot and Warpage Can occur

My hood really fit well, it was the trim molded in that was bad. It was so shallow that I wouldn’t be able to foil it, or tape it for paint. And I really wanted to have the trim stand out and flow from the front of the car to the back.

Bud, you're really making a huge stink out of a kit flaw that came from poorly tooled molds probably made a long time ago. This is typical of American kit makers where bodies have sink marks, crooked fits and divets. If that kit you're on were made by a Japanese company like Tamiya you'd have no problems at all. Their price is higher but so is the quality. That's why I quit building American kits and went for others from the orient. They don't usually do American subjects though but I like what they do! Tough it out!
