We don’t call it improvising, we call it spontaneous song that’s when you’re setting the atmosphere for the Holy Spirit yo start moving. Something supernatural.
She is really praising the Lord! Her pure heart reflects singing to Jesus comes and that comes out in her beautiful vocals. She isn't getting all the glory by her wonderful voice, neither is the audience. The glory is ALL going to the Lord! Can you please review more of Hillsong's music? 🙂😌

I am very glad you made this video. I am a Christian and I have been serving in the worship team at my church for the last 10 years singing and playing instruments. We have played this beautiful song so many times and it always impacts me. Taya has one of the best "Christian voices" she has so much passion for music and for Christ. I've been blessed to see Hillsong United, Hillsong Young and Free and Hillsong Worship in person many times. What I appreciate about all of the Hillsong groups is their consistent focus on attention to detail while making space for the Holy Spirit to anoint the music in the moment. It never feels like a concert but rather a true worship experience that is not fake. I have also heard Oceans so many times, but it never fails to move my soul closer to God. Thank you for your review of this song and performance! I never get tired of it! Blessings!

I agree that her vocals are made for this song. Moreso this song was made for her voice. Eventhough some people may not understand this but this song was divinely written. Even they said in an interview ( parphrasing), "Woe, this is different." I still thank the worship leader today for introducing me to this song years ago. Still part of my worship today.

I like your assessment of what makes a good worship song. I'm not a worship artist but as a worshiper I know that a song has to be musically interesting yet easy for the average person to sing along with. If the congregation can't sing it it will fall flat. I've heard some beautiful "christian" songs done in church that just aren't "praise" or "worship" and they always fall flat because lyrically or musically they're just not composed with a congregation in mind. One of the more powerful things a worship leader can do is to linger on the chorus or bridge for a long time and let it build. The tricky thing is to let the artists shine without the artist becoming the focal point. One of the things that can kill a congregations ability to follow along is when the worship leader starts doing runs and improvising all over the place in a chorus without enough backup singers to hold down the melody for the congregation to sing along with. It's distracting because the worshipers can't follow the leader. So for a leader to do that without a substantial backup group is bad. However, with an epic classic such as Oceans it's not necessary because the congregation IS the backup section!

I totally agree with you, Taya has an amazing voice. I was a worship leader for 20 years and vocally taught and matured guided by the Holy Spirit. Today, there is that musical competition in the churches that ends in a lot of noise, and that is sad. I don’t have a music education but God’s gift of singing, writing songs and composing a melody and I don’t know how to play any instrument. thanks for the comments.💝

I think you take too many pauses and talk a little too much during the song. Kinda a bit distracting. Especially cause your microphone overpowers the song so so so much and it’s hard for us to connect and enjoy the commentary or whatever it’s called.
