    Hello everyone.
    When performing T-joint welding or edge welding, there are cases where there is not enough space to weld because the wall is low.
    In some cases, welding covers the wall, but in other cases, it may not be necessary to go beyond the wall.
    We will introduce you to a welding method that is good for use in such cases.
    Precision welding may seem weak at first glance, but it withstands impacts surprisingly well.
    In the future, we will also introduce its application to thinner materials.
    Thank you for watching and have a great week.

    시청해주셔서 감사합니다 그리고 즐거운 한주 보내세요.

    Remember that the torch must be held parallel to the weld for it to be strong.

    If only they were affordable? this is excellent for thin material but i don't know if i would trust this on thicker metals.

    • @brnmcc01
      @brnmcc01 25 дней назад +2

      It's only affordable for like mass production work, like if you were in a factory making machines and laser welding a stainless steel case for the machine or like a controls panel with a lot of small thin parts. For making one or two items where speed isn't an issue, then TiG is much cheaper, but TiG is harder to learn than laser welding for employees, plus TiG takes about 3x as long roughly, some things are faster than that, some slower, but in general laser is pretty quick, and there is less warping of thin sheet metals.

    looking great , but of course your bend test was done the wrong way , it was done with the plate thickness supporting the weld.

    • @SeldomFales
      @SeldomFales 25 дней назад +1

      Absolutely! The weld test should have done the opposite way, against the root showing root fusion and depth of penetration. This test showed nothing of structural integrity as many other welding videos appear to avoid showing proper destructive testing of the welds but love showing “pretty-passes”! LOL

    • @brnmcc01
      @brnmcc01 25 дней назад

      @@SeldomFales The interesting thing about laser welding is actually the penetration is really good. However, some people have had problems with stainless steel welds cracking, and some minor porosity. The neat thing about laser welding is, the laser is so tiny, it heats an extremely small spot, and the metal quickly melts. When the metal is molten it actually becomes pretty transparent to the laser so the laser quickly burns down through the metal. I've seen examples of welding on stainless steel pipe over the printed lettering on the pipe, and after the weld is completed, you can still read the lettering! This is because surface impurities just stay floating there on the surface, and the material is kind of welded from the inside out.
      It's not for everything, and this process is best for very thin metals where warping or excessive heat input would destroy the part. For thicker materials that need precision welding, a good TiG process is better. But for very thin metals or for like very thin mirror finish parts, it's really good, and the speed is like 3x faster than TiG, plus the learning curve of using a laser process for mass production of items, it's the way to go.
      But yeah in this video he should have shown the backside of it, but there is other examples of laser welding butt joints where you can see the weld goes right through to the other side, and actually makes a nice looking bead on the back.

    • @SeldomFales
      @SeldomFales 25 дней назад +2

      Thanks for the explanation! I could see that the process was a very low heat input from the tiny heat affected zone which is important with welding SS but it also made me think about why the welder didn’t break the coupon as per most all the Codes that I remember. I’m sure the process’s sweet spot is very thin SS.

      @@SeldomFales Yes there's another video on RUclips somewhere showing butt welding together two sheets of like 28ga mirror segments. If you tried to TiG weld those, a large part around the weld would not be a very good mirror anymore!
      Another neat thing with laser welding is it's possible to weld two entirely different metals together and other strange stuff like that. It has it's place, but for things like chromoly roll cages, high end bicycle frames etc, it's hard to beat a good TiG setup.

    • @brnmcc01
      @brnmcc01 25 дней назад +1

      @@SeldomFales The heat input is low overall yes, but the laser is so concentrated, that the heat input where the laser is focusing on is extremely high. The basic problem of any electricity based welding process is, a big majority of the wattage input is wasted into the metal, because you're depending on an electric current flowing thru the electrode and the work piece. With laser welding, the heat input is from photons and not electrons. In arc welding, whether MiG, MaG, SMAW, or TiG sometimes 80% of that arc energy is "wasted" in that it plays no part in the actual weld, it's dissipated into the workpiece (heat affected zone) and into the surrounding air from the high intensity UV light produced and resistance in the work leads, tungsten/wire/welding rod etc. That's the reason big TiG torches are water cooled, otherwise they get way too hot, and that's wasted energy dissipated by the water cooler that could have otherwise been directed into the weld pool directly.
