Great video and commentary on the shots. And the photo at 9min and the portrait at 15min were exceptional photos. I love the timing of the video. Actually watching this in Siracusa Sicily. I have been trying to get a shot of a bird, likely Black Redstart or European Robin, on a cactus, but so far no luck. But your comments and suggestions will definitely be helpful as we continue our trip to a few other areas that are likely to contain large cacti or is it cactuses??😅
Thanks so much Peter, so glad it was helpful and thanks for the kind words on the photos!. Best of luck to you on your upcoming trips and get those birds and cactuses haha
I never worry about it. I've bushwacked in almost every kind of habitat and pretty much never run into anything dangerous. Not to say it can't happen but I feel it's far less likely than most of us think. Other than that I generally try to just pay attention to where I'm walking and moving.
@@RayHennessy I've stepped on a water snake before, both to our surprise so I'm not sure I would be so lucky... Was so focused on the looking for birds and it was a path I was used to so I didn't look down. Good thing there aren't really any venomous snakes in the Northeast where I stay. Truth was I was far more upset that I didn't see it earlier so I could take a few photos.
@@AstairVentof yeah I could see that. I'm sure it can happen but I've just never run into anything dangerous in all my wanderings. I guess I'm lucky so far.
Thank you, Ray for the info and the resolution!!👍🏼
Sure thing and glad you are enjoying the 4k versions! It was pretty easy to do that way!

Great vid. How do you deal with protecting yourself from snakes and the like when bushwhacking these kind of places.

I think the cactus wren was on some kind of cholla cactus
Yes, that was it! I just couldn't remember the name.
