Hi Adam, thanks for the reaction! The guy who sings the high note is Jongho, the main vocalist. He ... is ... incredible .... !!! And this is not the highest note he can sing in head voice; the live performance for this is better than the MV, they sang it in "Immortal Songs" (during the performance it is not allowed to use the autotune) with two of the members of the original song on the jury. This is their cover.

Jongho (he did both the soft intro and killing end notes) is widely considered the best male vocalist of Kpop's 4th gen. He's also flexible enough to sing in many different styles. Ateez have always been known and famous for singing live and being super stable especially our Jongho. Hope you will check them out more ❣️
Ateez vocals are one of the most favourites. Their b-sides specially screams talent because they're so diverse.
Ateez is my favorite group. Jongho’s vocals are what got me listening to them.
The unpredictability of this song is pretty signature for Ateez. They also don’t ever just cover a song but take it and make it their own.
I suggest you check out Fireworks. But include a live performance (the recording uses auto tune for effect and there is less of that in the live performance). But Fireworks really explored hard and soft sounds.
Their MANA 2019 performance is also amazing. Jongho sings a MissA song in a higher key than the original and they also cover BTS and SHINee in a mash up with their song Wonderland.

Ateez are in my three-way tie (with Exo and Stray Kids) for favorite Kpop group. I loved this reaction because you mentioned many of the things I love about them and this song. If you want to hear more of Jongho’s high notes, I recommend watching the Mayfly group vocal performance. You’ll get Jongho, Skz’s Seungmin, and BTOB’s Eunkwang singing Love Poem. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard.

@@SeonghwaffleJem man I would love a whole collaboration album. So much talent in those three groups. Eunkwang’s vocal runs are so gorgeous and his arrangement really used all their strengths so well.
Eunkwang is such a great leader. I like him so much. His support for Seungmin and Jongho is so subtle but strong.
And this Mayfly collaboration? I’ll be the first to buy tickets for their tour!

I really loved how the BTOB members took on leadership roles and how much mad respect Stray Kids and Ateez had for them. The parts with Peniel in the dance unit and Minhyuk with the rap unit showed this.
They would sell out if they did a tour.
You should definitely check out their Immortal songs and Kingdom performances bcoz sometimes their live performances are more amazing than their MVs! ❤️

The man in the middle is Kim Jong Kook, his a part of member of Turbo, and now he's a solo ballads singer, he didn't sing in this MV, but he has special voice, it's also be called "Mosquito-like" voice, as a fan I recommend everyone to heard his real voice.
That singer at the end, Choi Jongho, does indeed have chops! As do they all! Ateez does TONS of interesting things musically and vocally :-)

I suggest Ateez’s Fireworks for a reaction. The studio and MV versions use a lot of autotune for effect (a trend I’m generally not a huge fan of but I still love this song). This is a stage version with live singing.

There is a live version without the dancing, but the balance between the various members is off between them and the back track so it just sounds bad overall.
Their Kingdom performances are also really good. Wonderland mashes Drvak’s Symphony #9. Their cover of Ikon’s Rhythm Ta mashes Vivaldi’s Seasons (Spring). And they mash their song Answer with Ode to Joy and it also features La Poem a quartet of classically trained singers.

Fun facts:
This song was a cover of a Turbo song. The Turbo song was very 1990’s electronic.
The man who joins them at the end is Kim Jungkook who was a member of Turbo.
This was a win for them on Immortal Songs 2. You should watch the live version. That show does not allow lip syncing or auto tune (you can use a back track). Just so you can hear Jongho’s stability.
They made the choreo in a few hours not long before the performance so many of the dance moves were borrowed from previous choreographies. The choreo they do while singing the “Nero, Nero” part was the dance done back when Turbo sang it.
They have a lot of amazing covers.
Jongho has a few online and Hongjoong-one of the rappers-has some interesting vocal/rap covers. His version of Numb and Lemontree are really good, but they aren’t straight up covers. He remixes them, adds some rap and creates something all his own.

Thanks for the react. Though Ateez are known for hitting it hard, they also have beautiful songs like Turbulence which has a mv, Aurora, Dreamers, Celebrate etc. I recommend those and harmony supremacy is Ateez Be With You. That song literally is like the impact of Celine with the Titanic. I can picture Be With You on soundtracks and Korean Osts. Ateez have great vocals and will do harmony live as seen on Turbulence, Take Me Home etc.

Like a lot of people in the comments I really think you should react to Turbulence (the live band version) cause the vocals just absolutely shine through. The high note in that song is absolutely crazy and you can tell that they’re 100% singing it live! I just know you’ll love that song 🤭
